Customers enjoy the SoundSport Free True Wireless Headphones for their excellent sound quality, comfortable fit, and long battery life. The charging case is also well-received for its convenience. However, some users have experienced connectivity issues, find the design to be bulky, and feel that the price is not justified by the product's performance.

    Constant Dropout

Worst Bose product I have ever purchased. I have several other Bose products and I love them, but this product is terrible. I have a Galaxy Note 8 and done all updates and downloaded all Bose updates and these will drop out if they are not 6 inches from each other. I put my phone in my pocket to work out and if I turn my head left or up they drop out. I cant jog in these unless my phone is in my hand like I'm talking on speakerphone a few inches from my face. Terrible, replaced with the JBL earbuds.

Loss connection in left ear all the time

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought the headphone because I thought "They are Bose! Must be quality." Unfortunately, the left headphone would always fade in and out like wired headphones with a short. It was VERY frustrating. This started within 12 hours of purchasing the headphones. Yes, I made sure they were charged 100%. Yes, I updated the software on my iPhone. I tried everything imaginable to make these worked because I really liked them and the sound quality was great. It just didn't work in both ears.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your SoundSport Free wireless headphones, rorcpa. We're sorry to hear you've experienced difficulty with your left earbud's Bluetooth connection. We're happy that you enjoyed the headphones' sound quality, and we appreciate you trying the firmware update and some other troubleshooting. This sounds frustrating, and we want to help. The signal flow from your headphones will go from your connected device to the right earbud, where the signal is processed and then streamed to the left earbud. Due to this, it is important that you avoid any added interference from objects such as routers or heavy clothing. We recommend keeping your source device closer to the right side of your body if possible. If the issue persists, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team for further assistance. When you visit the Bose website, click "Contact Us" at the bottom of the page to view our contact information. Please have your headset with you when you contact this team. Thank you again, and have a great day. Jesse - Bose Support Bose

Got my first pair and bluetoth conection dropped during every run. Returned them to Best Buy and got a new pair and the same thing! I thought it was my phone so I got a new one, but still same problem with new phone. Returned the second pair to Best Buy and got a different brand the Jaybird Run and been happy so far! The sound of the Bose headphones is superiror to all the rest but that is irrelevant if you cant use them because they never stay conected for more than 5 min

They have great sound quality but after about 5 min of being on whether you are on a call or not will disconnect from the phone even when in the app have it set to never go idle. there is no power button so cant just turn on or off without putting back in the huge charging case. there is no button to answer or hang up calls so have to do it through the phone so cant really call it a hands free headset more accurate description would be a semi hands free headset

      Hi, J.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your SoundSport Free wireless headphones. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the SoundSport's audio quality.

It is concerning to learn that you experienced difficulty with your Bluetooth connection. The signal flow of your headphones will go from your connected device to the right earbud, where the signal is processed and then streamed to the left earbud. Due to this, we recommend keeping your device on your right side whenever possible.

While the SoundSport Free will need to be put in the case to turn off immediately, you can set an "auto-off" timer in the Bose Connect app. This way the headset can turn off automatically when outside of the case. To clarify some information, you can answer and end calls by tapping the multi-function button on the right earbud (between the volume buttons).

If the issue persists, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team at 1-800-367-4008 for further assistance. They are available M-F 9 AM to 9 PM Eastern. Thank you, and have a great New Year.

    Bad for gym/loud environment

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I bought these for the gym. Pro’s are that they are waterproof, call quality is good, very nice charging dock with reserve battery charging capabilities. Music sounds good if turned up loudly enough. The big con is the combination of lack of noise cancellation and very poor noise isolation. The so called isolation is way insufficient if you don’t want to hear everything going on around you. With Adell’s Skyfall playing, I was able to turn the volume up loudly enough to drown out surrounding sound, but all lulls in music, quiet spots, or audio book and you will have a flood of sound from all around you. So very disappointed they did not care to address ambient sound at all.

    Great, But...

I love the sound quality of these earbuds. There are some great bass tones and i love that I can "feel" the music. However... The batter life is pitiful. I will put the buds in the case to charge and they won't charge. The case will barely hold a charge and the buds will not charge when the case is plugged in. In addition, the left bud will not stay in my ear. I have tried all the provided ear-tips and none will fit. I use the middle one in my right ear and it fits fine but the earbud keeps coming out of my left ear and diminishing the sound quality. I will be returning these in the near future to find something that better suits my needs.

    Horrible Sound Delay

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Great sound but get 1 star since you cant go any lower. I have a pair of Zivigo airbuds and somehow they connect better and have no delay with video. Watching video with the Bose will make you go crazy. Its a bit sad that my $30 pair from 2 or 3 years ago is better? I should have believed the reviews when they said watching video was unbearable. And now that i look its saddening that Bose responds with "bluetooth devices will experience delays" but somehow $30 versions figured it out. The fastest return ive ever done. If you only listen to music they may be for you, if your brain processes video 2 secs slower than sound these are definitely viable. I personally had a better experience with these earbuds when the video was muted. A bit frustrating trying to read lips but less triggering than the old Godzilla audio. hopefully Bose can get this figured out soon as it appears to be lingering for well over a year now.

Hello, Smalls. Thank you for taking the time to share your review of the SoundSport Free wireless headphones. We're sorry to hear that they have not lived up to your expectations. The SoundSport Free wireless headphones are specifically designed for music audio playback. When used for video viewing purposes, the quality of the experience, specifically, synchronization between audio and video, may be compromised. Truly wireless headphones are subject to some latency between audio and video. This can vary based on the device, operating system, apps, cloud-based content, and network infrastructure. We were able to lessen the effect with software. However, because the issue is very source and app specific, it makes complete elimination difficult. We will continue to partner with select app developers to improve these experiences. We appreciate your feedback as we are always looking for ways to enhance our customers listening experiences. Though we see that you have returned them, we hope that you'd be willing to give our products another chance in the future. Kind regards. Ashley - Bose Support bose

I do janitorial all day and needed something that would stay in my ears while working. These do the trick. However, these do not stay connected to my phone. It looks like it's connected but I'll skip a song on my phone and it stops playing thru the headphones. It happens so much it's really a toss up whether I will be able to listen to music any given workday. I had a $50 pair of Bluetooth headphones before that never had this problem.

I bought the Bose headphones because of the history the company has for good quality products. However, the current firmware updates still have not fixed the connectivity problems between the phone and each earbud. About every 3-5 minutes my left earbud woukd go completely silent and eventually turn on after about 10-15 seconds. I had read online that this issue had been resolved, but that couldn't be farther from the truth. Get the Jabra Elite 65T, have had zero issues with my new pair!

Great idea if they worked properly

I got these headphones a couple of months ago and chose them over the Airpods because I love Bose! They were great at first and I love how you can switch between Bluetooth devices at the click of a button. However, a couple of weeks ago the right bud quit charging when I connect it to the magnetic charger. I can no longer use the headphones because the right bud is the control. It's not like Bose to manufacture an inferior product, but these just might be the exception.

Initial setup was easy, linked to my Note8 and also my computer. Put the headphones back into the case. Pulled them out a little bit later and they would not connect to either device. I researched how to reset, but it didn't work. Finally, after several attempts, the bluetooth button finally worked and I cleared the list. Went through the connection process again and it was fine until the next day. Now will not connect again and bluetooth button will not reset the device list when pressing for the required 10 seconds. If I can't get resolved, these will be going back to the store.

So, after 45 days of owning this pair of earphones I have watched them die while sitting idle in my backpack 7 times. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to get off work and sit down for the hour ride home, open the case and find that the earphones are dead, dead. I end up pulling out my $24 Taotronics earphones from Amazon and suffer in silence. Absolutely shameful that a $200 set of headphones will not hold a charge. Got home tonight and they have been charging in the case for the past 2 hours. What is up with this set of earphones?

I really wanted to like these headphones but after using them I just could not justify the price. They felt like they were going to fall out of my ears when running. The sounds quality was not noticeably better than the other less expensive headphones on the market. I returned them and went with the Powerbeats 3. They're not truly wireless but good enough for working out. Sound quality just as good as the Bose for half the money. I can deal with a cord connecting the two headphones.

    lags video sound

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Ok the only best thing about this is the sound quality and you can answer call without accessing your phone physically. Cons: 1- while watching ANY video on your phone the earphones will lag the audio by 1 second which is really annouying. 2- It drops the audio all of asudden and then picks back up once every 2 minutes. 3- right ear piece is the hub so you have to have it while using them and also while answering calls only the right piece works and left is cut out totally. Overall apple airpod is not great in sound quality but it dont ave any technical issues ilke the bose does. I am really unsatisfied by Bose (first time ever). P.S : any manufacture's comments that says to "upgrade the firmware will fix the issue", don't even try that on me cuz it do not work.

The sound quality to these headphones were superb, of course! I loved that they stay in my ear unlike the airpods. However, during phone calls the only earbud that works is the right. There is no sound that comes out of the left. After carefully reading online this was apparently a limitation on the technology. Additionally, there is a really bad lag in audio when watching anything YouTube. I returned them.

    Great sound, poor battery life

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

These buds have great sound, but there's a serious flaw in the power design. The buds don't turn off when in the case, and the Bluetooth radio continues broadcasting. So if you leave the buds in the case for about five days, the buds and the case will be dead. This appears to be by design, and Bose shows no interest in changing it. Would be five stars if the buds actually turned off while in the case.

Hello, Rick. Thank you for sharing your review of the SoundSport Free wireless headphones. It's good to hear that you enjoy the great sound! You are correct, the BLE remaining on is by design. The Bluetooth must be able to broadcast continuously to your connected device in order for the "Find My Buds" feature to provide a location. This low power setting will remain on, however you do have the option to adjust the other Bluetooth profile in the Connect App with the Standby Timer which may help extend the battery life. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Have a great day! Best Regards, Greg - Bose Support bose
