Customers enjoy the SoundSport Free True Wireless Headphones for their excellent sound quality, comfortable fit, and long battery life. The charging case is also well-received for its convenience. However, some users have experienced connectivity issues, find the design to be bulky, and feel that the price is not justified by the product's performance.

These headphones proved to be bulky and disconnected so often that I stopped using them and purchased another brand.

Audio Lag in video

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Audio quality is good for music, but in video lag is a serious issue. I had the SoundSports before this and I was upset with build quality, they broke after a year. Luckily I had the warranty through BestBuy so I replaced them and upgraded for $100 with a new warranty on these SoundSport Free. At first I was excited but now I'm really disappointed. For $200 these should be way better, I can not watch any videos (except netflix) without a 1-2 second delay. It really ruins any videos on my phone. I expected more from a company like Bose. I want to return these but I need headphones and the only other option from bose is a low quality build SoundSports.

Bought these because of the rave reviews, however came up short of expectations. Sound quality is what you would expect from Bose, however had issues when trying to hear video/music from a Surface or Laptop. Earbuds go in to "mono" style broadcasting and sound only comes out of the right ear. Contacted tech support at Bose and they could not figure it out. I even updated the new firmware they had on the Bose website, like they said, and still same issues. Went to my local best buy store and 3 different employees including geek squad had no idea and said that was not possible. Pulled out my Surface and duplicated the problem, they had no solution. Product works fine with my iphone x and ipad however not with a surface or laptop.

I unfortunately couldn’t return these cause I bough them at an air port kiosk, and they didn’t start messing up for a couple months. The battery life is complete garbage, sound is eh and one ear bud (switches) always goes out while I’m a gym. I have to stop what I’m doing, put them back in box, reprogram them just to continue my workout. They also disconnect on their own whenever they feel like it. Falls out of ears too with any sweat. I’m a Bose fan, but they should be embarrassed of these. Switched to beats.

Connectivity is awful with any slight movement, or wind while walking loses left ear connection. I contacted Bose had me uninstall app then reinstall. The rep told me if I continue to lose connection return they must be defective. Same problem returned for another pair. Again same problem and am returning the second pair. Very disappointed. I have an android cell I don't think earbuds are compatible even though Bose advertises works with MOST Android. Most is the operative word. My son has same earbuds but he has an Iphone no connectivity problems.

I have several of the wired Bose headsets including an old ear bud set that was one foot in the grave after 7 years of constant use. Finally figured I would bite the bullet on these. Had them for two days before I took them back. They were wonderful up until the time on that second day they had me install an “update”. After that, it was hit or miss if the left one would work or not. Ran a 100% full charge and still nothing. Took it back for a full refund. Majorly disappointed that a simple software update can render them useless.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your SoundSport Free wireless headphones, Hoss. We really appreciate your loyalty to Bose, and we're sorry to hear that you experienced difficulty with this model after the software update. The signal flow from the headphones will go from your connected device to the right earbud, where the signal is processed and then streamed to the left earbud. Due to this, it is important to avoid any added interference from objects such as routers or heavy clothing. We recommend keeping your source device closer to the right side of your body whenever possible. Though it appears you've chosen to return the headphones, we hope that you consider Bose in the future. We truly appreciate your feedback. Thank you again, and have a great day. Jesse - Bose Support

Do not buy these ear buds

I love my other Bose wireless headphones, but these are terrible. The left ear bud constantly drops connection from as little as moving my head side to side. I bought these to use while jogging, and the motion of my phone moving up and down in my pocket causes the audio to cut in and out.
Also, they are supposed to shut off when placed in the charging case, but mine stay on and deplete their battery and the case. It's a constant struggle to keep them charged.

Bose Fails to Deliver - Don’t Waste Your Money

I have been a big fan of Bose for many years. I own or have owned most of their products. Prior to this purchase I bought the wired, Bluetooth earbuds. The limitations of this product to only connect to one device at a time coupled with the lower than normal maximum volume makes it a bad deal. The case has a battery built in and acts as a primary charger when the earbuds are not in use, however, they don’t really charge, unless it’s plugged into the wall. Bose needs to rethink this one.

I love Bose products, I have the QC 15, QC 20, QC 30, Bose sound bar and looking at the wearable speaker. When this came out, I really excited. I returned it after 2 weeks and here are the reasons why.
1. After two hours or so, my ears started to hurt. It is where the clip connects to the ears. I think it has to do with the weight.
2. You can only use one ear piece when taking and making calls.
I would not recommend them for daily use or travel.

Hello Eldouche,
Thank you for sharing your review of the SoundSport Free wireless headphones. We see that you have been a long time fan of our Bose products, we definitely appreciate that! We understand however that these did not live up to your expectations. We designed the earbuds for single earbud(right) usage during phone calls. We understand that you have returned them but hope that you will give us another chance in the future.
Thank you again for your interest in our products!

Let Down

Had to trade in my Icon X2018 due to charging issues. So I spent more on these Bose true wireless buds. Off the bat I loved the fit despite being huge compared to the I-"cons" X's. The sound was louder and had depth which was awesome. Unfortunately, for the 250+ warranty I spent was a waste of $. The left earbud relies on the right and consistently looses connection. I only use these for the gym and having only one earbud operational has become annoying mid set. Also, the sound when your on a call is terrible and once again you have to rely on the right earbud. I keep these earbuds fully charged, but after about 40 mins of use the left earbuds drops out completely and the right gives me a notification indicating it will soon follow. And no they wont reset afterwards. The Bose app just reads, "Unable to connect." Bose products are amazing I just think they should of rethought their design and performance on these. So far with two "True Wireless" earbuds under my belt I think folks should save themselves the trouble and stick with the more cost effective plain semi-wireless counterparts. I know I am gonna save money plugging back into the matrix with my old sony headphones.

Not Compatible With or Supported On Windows

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Though not indicated on the packaging or in the documentation, Bose does not support Bose Free Soundsports on Windows or computers in general, as reflected in my experience, in my telephone conversation with Bose phone support, and in this excerpt of a post on the Bose forum quoting Bose support:
". . . the headphones you have are something that is mainly for people who are using the headphones on the go and not for computers. I believe that we provided the troubleshooting steps you need. There is no problem with the headphones, the purpose of this product is to deliver a high-quality audio experience for workouts and that is how the product got its name SoundSport, we sold them for Sports and not for Computers.
Thank you for contacting Bose Corporation.

In my case, in addition to not working with Windows, pairing the Bose Frees with my Windows computer disabled my other Bluetooth headphones which are, ironically, Bose (non-Free) SoundSports.

These work great with every device but my peloton. I updated to the latest software, and spent hours trying to connect. Not worth the time. They pair, and then no music plays. I tried my other bose qc35 and they connect and play the first time. Not sure what the issue is but certainly not worth it.

I liked this product, WHEN IT WORKED. But using it is very frustrating. The connectivity with my Sandisk Clip Sport Plus was unreliable. Sometimes it would pair quickly. At other times, I couldn't force the Bluetooth pairing even when turning both devices off, etc. So overall I give it a PASS until Bose works to make Bluetooth connection smooth & reliable

I would use my no name ear buds more because they would be charged. The Bose buds will not hold a charge. If I would leave them on the counter fully charged, after 3 days they would barely have juice to use. Also forget doing any pull-ups or overhead squats if your arm or anything gets near the bud it'll block the Bluetooth signal.

I bought this headphone back in 2018 and use it occasionally for traveling. Since last year, I've noticed the battery life is shorten every time after use to a point that it would only last 5 min on full charge! I've went to Bose support page hope to get this fixed or battery replaced but they said because my warranty has expired, and they could only offer me a new pair of their headphones! That's crazy! Why would I have to pay you again to get it replaced? I only want to fix this headphone but there isn't even an option for that! Absolutely worst customer service! I though BOSE is an internationally well-known brand, but I guessed wrong! I would never buy another product from BOSE, and I do not recommend any of their products!

I have had these headphones for 1 year now and this is my experience. Constantly discounting from my phone (1 headphone and sometimes both), super quiet until turned up to the harmful range, microphone doesn't pick up the users voice as well as the surrounding noise. My first Bose product and probably the last for awhile.

Hi, Sub741.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your SoundSport Free wireless headphones.
We're sorry to hear you've experienced difficulty with your Bluetooth connection. The signal flow of your headphones will go from your connected device to the right earbud, where the signal is processed and then streamed to the left earbud. Due to this, we recommend keeping your source device closer to the right side of your body whenever possible.
In regards to your headset's volume and microphone, we would recommend performing a firmware update as a troubleshooting method. With both earbuds in the case, please plug the case into your computer via USB cord and visit 'btu.bose.com'. Please follow the steps here to update your firmware.
If the issue persists, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team at 1-800-367-4008 for further assistance. They are available M-F 9 AM to 9 PM Eastern. Thank you, and have a great New Year.
