It was a family gift and I also feel, nose is inconsistent. Their headphones are rated at the top, but beats is far better as you can not be mobile with boss and not feel or hear vibration. The better blue tooth speakers are Marshal and the Harmon and Kardon at a better price.

    Good Wi-FI Speaker/performance, but.....

Bose/Sonos are the two biggest players in the Wi-Fi sound arena right now with competition emerging from all other companies (LG, Samsung, etc.). Bose has the luxury of long being a major player in the speaker/sound arena, and Sonos has been the leader in wireless Hi-Fi. I have tried both systems, and I feel it's best summarized as Bose being a jack of all trades, and Sonos being a master of one. Sonos has the superior app (I have not had the opportunity to try the new Soundtouch app to date), as well as superior sound to the Soundtouch 10. That's not to say that the Soundtouch 10 is not good, but it just is not as good as the Sonos Play 1. The Soundtouch 10 is a good speaker. It has great highs and mids, but it lacks bass definition if you're in a more open space. When I put the speaker with it's back in a corner, the bass improved, but the Sonos was good everywhere. Sonos was SIGNIFICANTLY louder as well at lower volume levels while maintaining excellent sound clarity. I found myself missing the bass lines on some of my music. And by bass, I don't mean club thumping bass, I mean bass guitar lines in rock music. To most listeners, the Bose will prob. sound really good, but side by side to a Sonos, there is no comparison in sound quality. Where this unit wins is functionality. The presets are nice and convenient, and there is Bluetooth and aux. input connectivity, which allows you more flexibility in the content you can play on the speaker. Sonos is only for music, whereas the Bose Soundtouch can be used for streaming your Netflix on your iPad, or quick connectivity for a guest. Another thing is the ecosystem. Bose also has the Soundtouch 300 sound bar which in my opinion is significantly better than the Sonos playbar both in sound and aesthetics. Once you commit to Soundtouch or Sonos you're committed unless you want to use multiple apps which would defeat the purpose of Wi-Fi speakers in the first place. I would suggest weighing whether you want superior sound purely for music of if you would like more flexibility in functionality I would give this a 3/5 stars for sound and a 4.5/5 for functionality.

Have many Bose devices. The sound or depth of bass isn’t as good as say an 808 speaker. After every update it gets sketchy and takes forever to get it connected again. It is overpriced compared to other portable speakers that get better sound.

I have purchased Bose speakers for years and, on average, they are good value for the money. I already had the SoundTouch 30 and get the 10 as an add-on. For a Bose speaker I would say the sound is pretty average and I won't be buying more for the other rooms.

I always believed that Bose was one of the best brands in the market, but after I bought this Sound Touch 10 wireless speaker, I changed my mind. After five or six months of having bought it, it began losing the Blue Tooth signal from the Bose - Wave Sound Touch Music System IV, which was frustrating. Then, after consulting the owner’s manual and doing everything it said, I ended up uninstalling the app, then reinstalled it and set it up again. Now, every three or four months I must do the same process, because it loses signal again and I want to have the speaker working again. I thought that my speaker was defective, but I have read many reviews online and learned that plenty of users are dealing with the same issue. Shame on you Bose, it is unbelievable that the quality of your Blue Tooth system doesn’t have the same quality of your speakers‘ sound. At this point I have no choice than to put up with it until I save some money to buy something better that does not force me to depend on an app to enjoy my music.

I was looking for a blue tooth speaker for my porch and hot tub. It wasn't until it was delivered that I realized that it would not be a good choice to be around water or high humidity. I exchanged it for a UE Boom II, which is great!

      Hello!

You are correct! The SoundTouch 10 is designed to be used while connected to power and your Wi-Fi network. It is not a portable speaker, and because of this does not have a battery.

It's also not just a Bluetooth speaker. It can also be used with the SoundTouch app to stream music over your Wi-Fi network as well! You can find more about this here! https://bose.life/2G60IXP

It's a decent speaker. It's not super loud. You have to keep it plugged in as it is not wireless. I have a Bose wireless speaker & the sound is much better than this one. It's not a bad speaker, but it's not one of their best.
