Posted .Hello there. Thank you for the review. For a portable wireless speaker that you could take with you and that will work without WiFi, we would recommend the SoundLink III Bluetooth speaker which can connect via Bluetooth, has a battery, and delivers incredible sound.

Great Sound Terrible Software

However, the software is temperamental and unreliable and it is constantly updating itself. It is nice that you can run the software from your desktop and on your mobile device. However, it's a game a chance if it will work. Sometimes it finds the speakers, sometimes not. I have the speakers next to my wifi and it does not help. Sometimes it will be playing great then the speaker will just stop working. Usually it is fixed by unplugging and plugging the speaker and it will work for a while. Bose must know that the software is crap, because they are constantly updating the software. Often when you try to play on the speakers you will get a message that it wants to update. Sometimes the update fails and the speaker has to be reset manually. It's a pity that the product suffers from such terrible software. The sound quality is pretty good and the feature set in the software is also good --- except the software is full of bugs.

WiFi and BlueTooth setup impossible to do

However, it's been two hours and I cannot get it setup. SoundTouch app cannot connect to WiFi. Other devices in my house can connect to my WiFi with no issues. This device won't connect. No proper guidance available on their support site. No one available today on the phone. If this product cannot connect to WiFi and Bluetooth easily, this should not be a product for consumers. Especially for that money it costs. It is a waist of time, it is a pain.

Great Speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this speaker from Best Buy Oct 2016 to hook to our samsung flat screen that my father blew the speaker out of, was not wanting sound bar just a small speaker. This speaker is great, great sound, sits next to the tv, taking up very little space, but I am giving this speaker 3 stars because the battery only last us about 1 and a half to maybe 2 weeks and we have to install a new one but of course we are using it every day but would expect more from a bose product

Our battery powered speakers are rechargeable and when used in the home, those should also be able to be run on wall power as well. Ridiculous!

If you think that you can go into a room and turn this speaker on and it will automatically play music you are dead wrong! If there are any burps in your internet service (and frankly, you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere with consistent coverage/service) you will have to go through the about 25 step process and about as many minutes to re-set up these speakers. I just spent 10 minutes trying to reset them on my phone to no avail (unless I want my entire network to be exposed on an unsecured Bose network). It's ridiculous to have to go through such a time commitment and multi-step process on such a high end product. Why are there no defaults? Why is this so incredibly cumbersome? My two Bose speakers just went into the "donate" pile. I will not buy Bose again - the problems are hardly worth the effort or the money! ugh...

Stopped working - No warranty! Do not buy.

You need to use an app just to adjust the bass- but that is okay- that is a feature of the product. Problem is that the speaker stopped working after 2 weeks. (will not find any input source, cannot connect via bluetooth or USB). Took it back to BestBuy after 20 days- in-store warranty expired after 14. Attempted to return it to Bose- Bose does NOT provide a warranty if you purchase a product from another vendor (other than Bose). So- you are buying something with a 14 day warranty. Not a problem if things don't break...but this product is not just a dumb speaker...and there is a good chance it will break. It's ridiculous that Bose provides zero warranty. Do not buy this product unless you want to throw away $200 for a black box that does absolutely nothing. 0/10 would not recommend.

Tried for Hours to Get a WIFI Connection.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.On paper, the Bose SoundTouch looked like the ideal solution for my 86 year-old mother-in-law. It could be set up to stream internet radio stations by merely pushing a button (#1 for classical, #2 for swing band jazz, #3 for show tunes, etc.) -- ideal for an individual not technically inclined. The preset buttons are unique to Bose. For instance, a Sonos speaker would require using an smart phone app to do the same thing. I am so bummed. I tried for hours to connect it to the WIFI in her retirement community. I had no problem at all connecting an iPhone, iPad and 2 PCs but the Bose would simply not connect. I really wanted this thing to work. The setup instructions are wretched. No documentation unless you go to the Bose site. Then there are all the 'secret handshakes' not documented in one place (press the '1' and '-' button to do this or the '4' and '-' button to do that) Clearly a half-baked product with no regard to user experience. Maybe it can be redeemed with future firmware updates, but don't count on it. I purchased it at BestBuy (same price as AMZ) but ended up returning it. I guess Bose still lives up to its reputation: Badly Overpriced (and Overrated) Stereo Equipment.

not enough oomph for the price point
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this was the first time ive purchased anything Bose other than my 2016 chevy colorado truck coming with the Bose sound system. i recently turned my garage into a home gym aprox 500 sq ft. for some reason although it is 2019, this speaker is advertised as WIRELESS yet i needed to plug it into a wall outlet. pairing to my phone was annoying. when i work out, i dont want to spend minutes just setting up a bluetooth connection. most speakers ive bought recently have a voice saying "pairing, connected" etc, this only has a small LED light indicating what it's doing. the sound quality was mediocre for a name largely recognized in the music sound industry. it didn't produce that "room filling" sound. do yourself a favor and put that $200 towards a speaker that will give you amazing room-filling sound, bass, and will connect via Bluetooth seamlessly.

The "Wireless" in the name of this system is implied to the ways that you can play to this system being wireless. You can connect to this through Bluetooth in the way you have described, or via Wi-Fi to connect up to our SoundTouch app.
If you feel that your sound quality is poor or low, and you have checked both the speaker volume and the source volume, then we would advise that you reach out to Bose Support in your local country/region for further assistance!

Sounds good. Software is less than poor

Sonos are far superior for reliable connectivity. Every time I use Bose app, it cannot find my speakers. Even though I have installed them several times. But inevitably every time I call up the app it says to give it a moment to check on the speaker. BUT never finds it. Again, don't waste your money on high priced Bose soundtouch. Buy Sonos

Stereo pairing no longer works correctly

I have a very fast network and every device i have works great except these speakers. They used to work great. But, no more. They are fine for mono, but I bought two to have stereo.

No Apple Music support

I bought this last year and returned it because of lack of bass reducer, living in a condo I need this. I was excited to learn they added this to the app. I bought it during Black Friday sales this year and returned it immediately learning it doesn’t have Apple Music support like Amazon Echo and most others. Needless to say, since most of my music is through Apple, I shipped it back immediately. I did research and was very disappointed to find out you had jump through hoops to get it to possibly work. I ended up going to Amazon and buying the Echo on sale. Very disappointed in Bose for this. Hopefully they change this in the future.

Sound good for a small speaker but wireless sucks

If you use bluetooth the reception is so bad you cant even go all the way across a good size room without it cutting out all the time. I bought these thinking they were worth the extra $$$ because of the bose name and was completely disappointed.

Overpriced paper weights
