    Good Speaker

It;s been a dream to own this speaker, because of the brand name and sounds. I always enjoy listening to its amazing sounds everythime I was at Bestbuy. Finaly, I bought one (Bose sound touch 300) 2 months ago and I was happy. The sound is loud, good but not gtreat. The sounds on dispaly at BestBuy sound better. My Soundtouch 300 speaker doesn"t sound like it. Is it because the display uses better demo disc? My PC Altec Lansing speaker 3.1 delivers better and crisp sounds.

So far I have been impressed of the details and clarity Bose has to offer. Having the full experience is just like being at the theater, this unit really puts you in the action or in the front seats of a concert. The set up at first is tricky but need to have patience and read the booklet that comes with it. Overall this has a lot to offer.

Can't maintain connection with Samsung Smart TV

We moved to the Williamsburg, VA area recently. Our prior home had a pre-construction/prewired 5:1 surround sound system with all speakers mounted in the ceiling. We then bought and installed a Denon Receiver and Blu-ray player, had them and the cable box controlled by a Harmony One remote. It was great. The new house did not have the same pre-wire set up and unfortunately by floorplan/layout, wasn’t practical to replicate the same and have surround speakers retro-installed. Decision was to find the best sound bar, subwoofer combo that delivered as close to our prior home’s set up as possible. Was very impressed with the Bose SoundTouch 300 sound bar demo at Best Buy and bought it on Black Friday. Also purchased a new Samsung smart TV (UN55KS8000) for the new set up at the new house. We didn’t have cable installed at the time so was watching movies played from the Blu-Ray player. Everything worked brilliantly for the first 4-5 days then ceased to produce sound from the Bose SoundTouch. Hours of frustrating attempts to resolve followed. Did all the troubleshooting actions I could think of doing including what the manual suggested. Unplugged HDMI cable to the Samsung One Connect box, unplugged power cord. Reconnected everything (multiple times). Restarted TV and sound bar. Reset the Bose sound bar to initial factory settings. Same with the TV. Returned the sound bar to Best Buy for a swap out with belief there had been an internal default within. Before hooking everything up last night, did an online update search for the TV. Hooked up the Bose and did a complete reset of the TV so it could identify the new Bose as connected into the ARC port of the Samsung One Connect box. TV did not recognize the Bose (didn’t first time either but produced sound for a few days before ceasing back then). Difference this time though is that the optical cable does enable the TV sound to come through the Bose. I know the optical cable is listed as an option BUT it is not the ideal solution. Optical cable connects lack the sound clarity that HDMI provides and works terribly from a Blu-Ray source. Need to find a resolution quickly and not sure where the fault lies; with Samsung or Bose. Suspect Bose. The Bose sounded marginally better that what I considered the closest rival product from Sonos. However, if I have to succumb to listening to sound delivered to the Bose from the lesser quality optical cable, I just as well return this second Bose and exchange for the Sonos!

    Sounded great, then stopped working!?

Frustrating experience. I got this for a birthday present along with the acoustimass300 sub. I set up the sound bar first and plugged it into my the hdmi-arc port on my 2014 Samsung 60". Went through the adaptiq setup and voila! It was an easy and simple setup. Sounded fantastic!! Loved how much clearer the tv dialogue was and how wonderful movies sounded. Night and day - truly wonderful. This is where the good parts ended. I got the sub the next day and followed the process to add it. Was pretty simple and straight forward again. This time however, the tv no longer recognized that the soundbar was there. I have reset everything multiple times to no avail. Sadly I have had to connect the optical out and the sound just isn't the same. I've looked all over and the bose support just isn't there online. It is as if they rushed to get this out ahead of the holidays and the project managers didn't get everything needed released in phase 1, so they pushed the incomplete product out anyhow. Super disappointed with this experience.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We are glad that you found the process to add the bass module to your setup easy. That shouldn't affect the ARC return channel on the TV, but having said that, optical should deliver the same high quality sound as an HDMI cable. It is possible that you are receiving a stereo signal currently instead of surround sound. We'd love to do some troubleshooting with you to figure this out. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. Not Worth it

Ive bought other Bose products in the past and have been a fan for years. This is the first product that has been disapointing. It's connected to a Sony 4k and the sound is pretty good. The problems I run into are- Problems with powering it down. Trying to turn it off just turns it back on again. I spend at least 5-10 min at a time in a strange game of hitting the power button only to watch it turn on again and again. There is only one HDMI connection so im constantly switching out cables to get sound to my different devices. Ive tried to use a HDMI splitter but havent found one that works so far. Overall not too impressed with the whole setup.

Worked Great Until It Didn't (Software Issues)

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'm a longtime customer of Bose electronics, and I've spent thousands of dollars with the company. I bought the ST 300 in December of 2016 after using a Bose Lifestyle 28 system for more than 15 years (thousands of dollars and upgrades to that system). I was looking to downsize my sound system, as well as to find a single connection system to my television via the HDMI ARC option (audio return channel) that is now an industry standard. The Soundtouch 300 worked great after a somewhat difficult setup--the system is as much an Internet music player as it is a home theatre system, but it's worth the setup trouble. But the customer needs to realize that this system is as much a computer as many such Internet-connected devices. It depends on its software to perform correctly. My ST 300 performed correctly and proficiently for that first month--enough so that I felt comfortable and confident to buy the subwoofer. I had planned on the purchase, having been an owner of systems based on separates for the past 30 years or more. I bought the ST subwoofer and had no problems with the Wifi based connection that the system favors. A hardwire connection is possible, but I did not need to use it. I still don't need to use it. The soundbar and the subwoofer shake hands and connect quickly whenever I power the system up. The problems--and they are serious problems--that I have with the system began just a couple weeks ago with Bose's latest software update. The system will no longer switch over the ST 300 automatically whenever I power up any of the inputs that work with the television, including the television. These are the television, the Blu-Ray player, the cable box, and my Apple TV unit. The system worked flawlessly up until this point, but now it no longer automatically switches from television speakers to external speakers (the ST unit), and it's becoming problematic to coax the system to do so. To be clear, I can still persuade the ST 300 to play the other inputs--the tv, the cable, the Blu-Ray and the Apple TV, but only after switching to the Soundtouch Internet music input OR the Bluetooth input and then back to the television. It's a very big problem, and the fix is untenable over the long haul. My complaint is that the company has yet to respond to the problem in any coherent and timely fashion. For this kind of money, that lack of real response is unacceptable. Bose has marketed some wonderful--if indeed pricey--audio equipment over the years, but this kind of unreasonable treatment from their customer service department, as well as the simply inept quality of this system update, is making me seriously rethink my opinion of the brand. You might wish to shop around before you commit to this system.

Sounded great but only worked via optical. Hdmi arc issue you read about is real and has not been addressed. Without hdmi arc, it requires multiple remotes to turn tv/cable on off and use sound. Total nightmare and not worth the brain damage. By the way, the app does nothing and the remote does nothing to help with set up or fine tuning. This is not a plug and play set up. Does look great though. I have bose soundlink mini and wireless earbuds. Awesome products. Soundbar 300 is too expensive to not function the way it should. I will return this product.

The Amber light is driving me crazy!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For the love of everything holy how do I get the amber pairing light on my ST300 to go off? Is this a firmware issue? I've exchanged the soundbar once already and the new one does the same exact thing. I've unplugged everything that could be interference. Bose said it could my my wifi router, microwave ect ect. I own Many Bose products and love them. I've even got many of my friends to buy Bose but it seems the ST300 was just not quite ready to launch yet with this bug. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm going to ask to trade it in one more time and if that doesn't work I guess i'll have to just live with it because I bought the AM300 and VI300's as well.

Soundbar subpar for vocals and dialog

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

A nice looking soundbar that sounds great for music, BUT does not perform well for vocals and dialog when watching movies or television shows. If you're looking to enhance the dialog from your TV, a better choice would be ZVOX. Where ZVOX does indeed excel for dialog, the BOSE does better with music. So for me, my priority was to hear the dialog with my new 4K TV and not so much listen to music. So now with the ZVOX, my wife and I are looking at each other a lot less and saying "what did he say?"

    Buy the Sonos Playbar

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased the Soundtouch 300and have been using it for a week. The sound quality is good but is seriously missing the sub. The reason I rated 3 stars and ultimately returned the item is because they do not support Apple Music. Bad move on Bose's part. I replaced the Soundtouch with a Sonos Playbar and cant believe how much better is sounds. The lows are there even without the SUB and they support Apple Music.

Difficult Product and poor customer service

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

It is my first time to purchase Bose today 10/30/2016. I gave it a shot today and behold I am still disappointed. I purchased both the Home thearter soundtouch 300 and the Accoustic 300 all for the best result. I got and was able to set it up halfway. I tried severally to contact Bose Customer Care to no avail, then I called Best Buy at Springfield PA 4times where I purchased the gadgets but the customer care representative hung up on me for the four times I called just because I had told her I have no $99 to pay for set up. I had to drive down again to return the gadgets. My experience today especially the Customer representative was a complete turn off. 2ndly Bose should not make things too difficult in this 21st century. Technology should not be this difficult. It is a rip off to have to mandate customer to pay $99 to have gadget set up.Customer Service Rep is not bothered if sales is made or not. SHAME

    Buyer Beware!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Please read this before you purchase this product. Massively flawed product. Does not work properly with 4K Samsung, LG, Sony TVs etc..Check the Bose Community Forums and you will find that almost all purchasers are having massive problems setting up using the ARC cable. The Bose Technical Team is terrible at responding to requests as they do not have a solution to this problem. Unfortunately mine is not refundable so I'm stuck with pile of junk beside my awesome Samsung 65JS9000 TV until Bose decides to fix this flawed product. Furthermore the Sound Touch app has a terrible user interface and is just awkward to use. I would consider Sonos (Sonos Playbar does not have ARC connectivity) or wait for something better to come out.

We are closely working with Samsung to identify the crux of the issue relating to the television, and contribute to bringing about a resolution. We will post more detail in the Bose Community forums as more information becomes available. We would like to recommend an interim fix if you are experiencing this. In addition to the HDMI connection to your TV, please connect an additional optical cable from the audio out on your TV to the optical in on your Soundbar. Using the two cables in conjunction will allow you to maintain CEC and still have audio in the event of a drop out. We can help make this happen if you'd like assistance.
