When it worked it was great!

We had this installed in October 2017. Loved it! In July 2018 it suddenly stopped working and we are now listening to our sound through the TV. Called Best Buy to have Geek Squad come out and were told the Bose basically went belly up. BB offered no support and we were told to bring it into the store to have it sent out. We paid a lot for this item and now I feel like we are basically being told to take a hike. After 8 months of use? Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

Very disappointed - too difficult to set up

While I really wanted to enjoy the Bose system (I have a number of different Bose items at home, including wireless headphones, mini soundlink, etc.), this system is a nightmare to set up. it reminds me of the old days with windows PCs where you have to spend 15 hours troubleshooting. They really don't get the user experience. Too bad, with all the R&D investment, they don't understand it's about the customer. I had to first figure out how to use the remote, bazillion buttons. yuck. I don't need another universal remote. I have one. Connecting the app ... well .. I could never get the Soundbar to connect to my home wifi, despite having a very strong signal, and with more than 30 different devices connected no problem. First I tried connecting using the app on my mobile. No go. Then I downloaded the app on my mac and had to search around for a mini usb cable to connect directly to the speaker - a cable, really? It has WIFI. No go. After fussing with this thing for two hours, including resetting the router, changing the control channel, disabling the 5ghz channel, i give up. I don't care if it sounds good or not, i'm done. I have six rooms of sonos at home and now i'm returning this $1500 system and buying a sonos soundbar. Good riddance.

Hello toml, thank you for sharing your review of the SoundTouch 300 soundbar. It certainly sounds like you have a very busy wireless environment in your home. It is possible that the amount of WiFi traffic may be playing a role in your difficulty connecting. I'd recommend having a SoundTouch specialist assess your specific situation and assist you in getting connected https://bose.life/1RwxI8E. If not, we are sorry to hear that the speaker didn't work out for you, but certainly appreciate you taking the time to try it out and share your feedback! Have a great day! Greg - Bose Support Bose

    Very, very, disappointed

I own many Bose items and have loved them all, until now. I chose the system over the Sonos because of my history with Bose but all I can say is, wow...what a piece of junk! I spent over 8 hours trying to make it work and talking to product support before finally throwing in the towel. The bass speaker would not wirelessly connect to the sound bar after trying a factory reset twice, unplugging and plugging back in multiple times, all at the direction of product support. I then tried to just connect my phone via bluetooth to the sound bar with no luck. The app is a horrible mess too. Its poorly laid out, difficult to understand, and just doesn't work. I was really looking forward to having a great sound system...I now have to drive 3 hours to haul this pile back to Best Buy. I have no intention of going through this frustration again so I don't think I'll even buy the Songos.

Don't lose the remote they don't make replacements

Bought the speaker and it sounded great. Then my Great Dane destroyed the remote. I called Bose for a replacement and they don't make them. I asked if a Bose universal one would work and they said no. So now I have a speaker that I can't even finish setting up the device. Ridiculous....

      Hello, bteubner34.

We apologize for the confusion regarding this experience, and we understand your frustration. Bose does make a replacement remote for the SoundTouch 300, however, it appears that the remote control is currently unavailable through our tech support team.

We would recommend reaching out to your nearest Bose Store to check availability. Our Store Locator tool can be found here: https://bose.life/2tqTgjg. We hope this helps. Thank you, and have a great weekend.

Glass Top Causes Unbearable Reflection of TV Image

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The SoundTouch 300 glass top is a nearly perfect mirror and this results in a reflection of the TV image that is unbearably distracting, as it essentially creates an extension of the TV image at the bottom of the TV viewing plane, especially with a dim/dark room. This was a poor choice by Bose and I am returning this product for refund.

Not suitable as part of surround system

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased this to set up a surround system at home. Settings changes were very slow and confusing. After hours of attempting to setup with Virtually Invisible Speakers 300 I never could get a connection to stay. Was never able to hear any sound from them. At times all I got was very weak, spotty sound. Tried for hours to configure this successfully without success. Could only get sound from the bar itself. Often after switching sources or turning it on it would automatically start playing Internet radio from the app even if the app was closed or the radio stopped. I tried to reset to default settings but the bar would just blink and never reset even after 45 minutes. The sound bar itself sounds very good it is just useless as part of a surround system or trying to use rear speakers.

    Do not buy Bose Soundtouch

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Do not buy this if you are frustrated with poor software interfaces. The sound is great, but the interface software is worthless. I have a Bose system with speakers is 4 rooms. I have each installed on the internet, but the app only recognizes one room. No matter how many times I reconfigure I always end up with the same situation. One room recognized and the app apologizing that it cannot find the other speakers and suggesting I reinstall them again and again. My Sonos, on the other hand. never has that problem. Buy the Sonos.

    Loss of Base Unit

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I purchased this system (sound bar, base unit, and surround speakers) in an attempt to reduce the clutter of my wired system. Well its been 10 days, and many hours on the phone with Bose and the unit still will not connect to the base speaker. Their support is not off shore so good luck getting through the language barrier. I even called Framingham but there is no technical support there. I will say they have now started an e-mail chain with a technician (I have not idea where he is) they pushed over a software update that was supposed to fix all this, still no connection to base speaker. If this does not get fixed soon its all going back to Best Buy and I am going back to a wired system.

    Majorly Flawed

HDMI-ARC is an absolute nightmare with this product. BOSE has been saying for over 2 years they are working on a fix. Clearly they can't and therefore this product is not worth the purchase and is totally flawed. I purchased the sound bar, rear speakers and sub which cost a fortune and after hours and hours of resetting, unplugging and even buying a NEW TV! I am left with the same frustrations. I should have returned it when I could but Bose blamed Samsung when they were wrong.

Hello MarkJBon. Thank you for taking the time to review the SoundTouch 300 soundbar. Unfortunately, HDMI-ARC and CEC are both technologies in wide use that have little or no industry-wide standard. As you pointed out, it does present challenges when making integrated components. There is some good news here, however. We can help you work through some potential solutions that may resolve your connectivity and allow you to take full advantage of the amazing sound technology in your system. I encourage you to contact our support team here: https://bose.life/1RwxI8E. Have a great day! Best Regards, Greg - Bose Support Bose

    HDMI ARC problems

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Bought this expensive junk because it has HDMI ARC and I didn’t want to use multiple remotes. The Bose soundbar doesn’t work with Sony TV’s. When you turn off the TV, the Bose soundbar turns the TV back on. Bose customer support sucks and the only way to fix the problem is to disable the ARC feature which makes you have to use 2 remotes. Buy a Samsung 750 much better.

      Hi Mark,

Thank you for providing your review of the SoundTouch 300 soundbar. We are sorry to hear about the experience you had. As for the HDMI method, we have had users reporting ARC- and CEC-related issues with the SoundTouch 300 and other products that support SoundTouch. According to all investigations we have done so far, there are two possible explanations for this:

      a. The issue is not due to issues with any one manufacturer but is a by-product of the fact that HDMI-ARC and -CEC are not standardized from manufacturer to manufacturer, thus potentially causing functionality issues.

      b. There have been some individual user cases where the issue was actually with the TV, rather than with the Bose system. For example, resetting the TV to its factory settings or checking with the manufacturer as to the availability of a TV software update has resolved the issue.

We are here to assist should you need any further assistance. Feel free to reach out to our dedication SoundTouch support forums by click here: https://community.bose.com

Stopped working after 1 day using HDMI/ARC

Worked fine for one day using HDMI/ARC. The next morning I couldn't get any sound out of it. Try everything I could find online. There are literally thousands of complaints about this system and newer Smart TVs using the HDMI/ARC port. Just google no sound from Bose ST-300 and you will find threads up to 19 pages long complaining about this failing to work after a day, week, etc. Not worth spending $1400 on this and the Bose Subwoofer to have these kind of issues.

    Expected better sound

I purchased the Bose sound bar 300 because of my prior positive experiences with other Bose products and also based on the reviews found online. I am disappointed with the sound quality as it sounds very hollow and I have to turn up the sound to a very high level in order to make out the sounds. Would not recommend it for the price.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. We are glad to hear that you've had positive experience with our products in the past and we'd love to help with this one.

If you are getting sound output that sounds "hollow" with low volume, the first troubleshooting step would be checking the source volume. If this is while watching television, it will be the variable volume on the cable/satellite box (not to be confused with the volume for the tv).

We'd also suggest rerunning the AdaptIQ audio calibration software.

If you'd like some help with further troubleshooting, we have technical experts available who can point you in the right direction to make the most out of your new soundbar. Give us a call when you are home with the system. You can reach us at 1-800-379-2073. We are open from Mon. – Fri., 9 AM – 9 PM EST. Bose
