Appreciate these so much!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Walkers/runners, look no further! I'll get right to it, if you are looking for a set of earbuds that allow you to stay aware of your surroundings without having to take one out or constantly pause/play what you are listening to, these are for you. Pros: 1. Lightweight. I barely feel them. 2. Shape. These do NOT go over the entrance to your ear canal. They actually sit a little above which makes it so you can still hear what's going on around you (as long as your aren't blasting your music, which, lets be honest, you shouldn't be doing anyway). Being a female walker/runner, I appreciate being able to be aware of my surroundings while listening to my favorite music/podcast. 3. Secure fit. These will feel like they are on the verge of falling off your ears, especially if you wear glasses, such as myself. It takes some getting used to. I was able to run, jump, do jumping jacks, burpees, etc. without them falling out. I also did some stretching and even when I tried to get them to fall off they didn't. They are awesome. 4. Sound quality is great. Bose did a good job of making sure they weren't sacrificing great sound for great comfort. You get both. 5. Calls come in crystal clear. I am on the phone A LOT for my job. I used these for 3 hours straight, alternating between calls and music. I had no issues at all with taking calls and the caller being able to hear me. Switching from music to calls was seamless. 6. Battery life. I was able to get 4 hours of continuous use on one charge. It went from 100% down to 30% in about 3 hours. That's really nice for wireless buds. Charging them back up took very little time. Cons: 1. Little buttons on the bottom of each bud. I'm not a huge fan of this system. I have another set of Bose ear buds that have a tapping system that I like better. It's not a huge deal, just takes a little bit to get used to. That's it. One con. I love these things.

Great earbuds (if they fit you comfortably)
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Quick Rundown: - You'll either love or hate the fit of these. If you hate it, this will be a dealbreaker. - These are designed to NOT block out sound, which is great for running outside, but it also means that you might end up cranking the volume to compensate for ambient noise, and they readily leak sound - Sound quality is quite good; though, it has the Bose V-shaped curve of boosted highs & lows, and there's no equalizer. Though, these should primarily be purchased for function, not sound quality. The Fit: - These fit me comfortably, but comfort will certainly vary by person. The earbud itself is completely rigid and made of hard plastic, so either your anatomy works with its shape or it doesn't - It feels great to not have something jammed down your ear canal; this aspect of the comfort is undeniable - Despite being heavier than most true wireless earbuds, they don't feel heavy on the ear The Controls: - There's a physical, clicky button on the underside of each earbud as well as a touch-sensitive button (where the big Bose logo is). The clicky buttons are rigid enough to prevent accidental clicks, but may be a little troublesome to easily click while mid-stride - The right click button controls playback, phone functions, and on/off - The left click button can invoke your voice assistant (Siri, Google) & tell you the current battery life - The touch buttons control volume (firmware update is required to activate touch buttons) What's in the box? - The earbuds - Carrying case: It's nice & rigid. This is about as compact as it can be; it will fit in your pocket, but it will be a bit bulky. The length & width are about 1.25x the size of a credit card, and the thickness is about the same as an iPad charging brick. It does not charge the earbuds. The inside is lined with a synthetic fabric material, which may not be great for storing if they're covered in sweat. The magnetic closure is nice as is the grippy, semi-rubbery texture on the outside. Hopefully, the rubberized exterior won't degrade over time. Since the case does not contain any electronics, your earbuds will not automatically turn on/off when removing/storing them in the case; though, you can adjust how long it takes for them to automatically shut off. - Charger: This uses a USB-A plug, and the earbuds magnetically attach to it. Connectivity: - You are required to use the Bose app to pair your earbuds to your device (which also requires a Bose account) - Earbuds can only connect to one device at a time, and you switch the connection via the app - Earbuds will automatically connect to the last paired device upon powering on Other: - Bose claims up to 8 hours of battery life (I haven't tested this myself) - Bose claims it takes 2 hours to fully charge & that 30 minutes of charging will get you 3 hours of playback/use (again, haven't tested) - IPX4 rated (protected against water splashing from any angle, but not protected from water jets nor submersion) Wishlist for the next version of these earbuds: - Change the earbuds so they can be adjusted to be comfortable for more people; perhaps, use a more rubbery/pliable earpiece closer to what was used on the (now-discontinued) Plantronics/Poly Backbeat Fit 3150 - Include a charging case; preferably with USB-C and possibly Qi wireless, while somehow magically keeping it from becoming gigantic - Change the inside lining of the case to be more sweat-friendly - Considering that other earbuds for active use (e.g. Jabra Active 75t) are rated up to IP57, it would be nice to see a higher IP rating on these.

I really wanted to like these...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Earlier this year I got a pair of Bose sunglasses which contained a set of near field speakers in the arms allowing you to listen to music, books, or navigation directions without impeding your ability to hear the outside world or having a pair of very expensive earbuds fall out onto the road. They quickly became my absolute favorite accessory to take on a bike ride, however they had one very obvious flaw: they were sunglasses. They aren't exactly the kind of things that are ideal to use at night, when you might really need those navigation instructions, or on days where you've got heavy clouds reducing the amount of ambient light. As such I was very excited to see that Bose had put the same kind of tech into a more conventional pair of earbuds, as it seemed like a perfect device to take on adventures now that winter has come and days have gotten shorter. But after two days of trying my level best to fall in love with them like I did with my Frames, I've reluctantly had to admit that I can't. There are a whole lot of decisions that were made with these things that I have a hard time understanding the reasons for. To start, these are the first pair of wireless earbuds I've seen in a long time that don't integrate the charger for the units directly into their carrying case. Instead you get a fairly standard rigid carrying case along with a bulky desktop charger that you need to drop the earbuds on, and for the life of me I cannot understand why. As far as I can see there's plenty of room in the design of the carrying case to run the necessary wires and pogo pins to have it serve double duty, particularly if you omit the usual supplemental battery that such cases include. It would have made these something I'd have no issue bringing with me on long camping trips, knowing that I could recharge it anywhere just by plugging it into the same portable power bank/solar chargers that I use to keep my phone running. But if I want to have more than eight hours of use with this thing I have to bring the entire rather clumsy and fragile looking charging dock with me, adding unnecessary bulk to my pack and running the risk that I'll destroy the thing to boot. I would have gladly put up with an even larger case for that, and I just can't see myself bringing these any further afield than the local gym without that feature. That being said, I probably wouldn't be missing much. Because these are, bar none, the most uncomfortable earbuds I have ever used. Since they aren't actually sticking anything inside your ear, everything depends on a rigid arm running up to the speakers designed to wrap around the back of your ear and hold it in place. Now to their credit, it does a surprisingly good job of staying on even when you're engaged in vigorous exercise. But as far as I can tell the only reason it can is because it pinches down on one of the most sensitive parts of your ear and never lets go. When these first arrived I decided I'd test out the battery life by wearing them all day while I worked. I ended up spending a good two hours fiddling with them to try and find some position where I didn't have to choose between constant low key throbbing pain or having them fall off the moment I leaned forward. At one point I thought I'd managed to find a good balance, but then I got up to go for a run and within a few minutes the motion of my head had sent them right back into painful territory and I found myself stopping almost constantly trying to slide them back. To be entirely fair to Bose, there are a lot of things that they absolutely nailed here. The audio quality is astonishingly good even with all the background noise they let in. They leak remarkably little audio to anyone who might happen to be next to you, given that everything's just sitting out in the open. The battery really does last almost 8 hours. And they are quite sturdy, having stood up to several six foot falls and one misadventure in a snowbank without so much as a scratch to show for it. But these are not enough to make up for what feel like a fundamentally flawed design that rules them out for just about everything I'd hoped to use them for. If the engineers at Bose keep working at this and come up with a more ergonomic mounting system and a travel friendly charging case, I think this could be a fantastic product. But for now, my recommendation would be that you give these a pass. Particularly if you've got big ears.

Bose knows
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I'd try these out after losing my JLab Epic Air headphones. I wanted to see if open earbuds were useful and worth it. I have to say the sound quality on these things is great. The base is a bit limited but otherwise the sound is incredibly good for not being over or in the ear. Call quality is very clear too. The app works fine and has the necessary instructions. I like having a loop to go around the ear to keep the headphones from falling off. They haven't let go of my ears yet. The fit is pretty comfortable and doesn't need much adjusting. These earbuds are little on the heavy side but at times I forgot I had them on. After some time of not listening to anything the headphones turn off automatically. Unlike the Aftershokz I tried out, these don't disconnect or turn off randomly. The button controls work fine. I can't say for sure if the battery lasted the advertised 8 hours, but it seems close. There is no charging carrying case (like with my JLabs) but the magnetic charger does charge pretty fast. In order to update the headphone software you have to put them in the charger. The update gives the earbuds touch control but I wish it was more than just volume control. If you have to adjust the earbud fit there's a good chance that you'll change the volume accidentally. The JLabs allowed me to use just one earbud for driving while the other earbud was turned off. The Bose ones have both earbuds on all the time. If the earbud that's not on my ear gets shook around in the car it would sometimes lower the volume. Just like the Aftershokz, if the volume is turned up too high then the ability to hear with an open ear is diminished a lot. You'll have to have the volume turned down, which makes music less entertaining, or you can't hear anything clearly outside of five feet. The open ear feature is nice because there isn't that plugged up ear fatigue, but these are best used when exercising or running. Even then you'll have to be alert of you're surroundings. So, I took off one star for the limited touch controls, no charger case, and the expensive price. Hope this review helped.

I wanted to like these, I really did...but...
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review....they were just not a good fit for me. Maybe my ears are shaped funny and no-one in my life has ever told me...but they do not sit as they are pictured on mine. The sound quality was good, but they were very uncomfortable after even a short time wearing them. The parts that rest behind your ears are thicker than they appear, and after using them for a bit, you'll feel the pressure from multiple points of contact and potentially feel the ache I did. Maybe if they were slimmer I could've been spared the discomfort and kept them...but after only a few days, I returned them for another Bose product and so far I'm much happier with my decision! If you can find a pair to try on, I would advise it before you buy. I'm giving it three stars because I like the design...they just haven't perfected it yet. Maybe next time.

Decent sound, nice idea, but not comfortable.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried these Bose Sport Open Earbuds for 3 weeks. I use some form of headset every day to listen to audio books, often wearing them for many hours at a time. I like to hear my surroundings when I run, workout, and do chores around the house, so I was looking forward to this new design. Unfortunately the Bose were too heavy and too bulky to be comfortable. They made my ears stick out due to how thick the behind-the-ear part is, and the tops of my ears hurt from wearing them. Sound quality was very reasonable. The base was not as strong as the in-ear ones I tried. To me, while listening to audio books the voice range seems 'warmer', like it is tipped a little in the response curve to provide slightly deeper/richer male voice, which sounds good in general. I was a little worried about the open ear design, but people next to me could not hear the earbuds and the sound was plenty loud and good quality in general. Lack of volume control on the Bose was disappointing, and needing a separate charger and case was not ideal. For comparison, I also tried Plantronics Backbeat Fit 2100 which had a constant hiss problem that is well documented in complaints and happened to me as well, and and Backbeat Fit 3100 in-ear (I could hear the headset when I moved my head and they just were not comfortable in general). I tried Apple Airpod Pros - great sound, I loved the transparency mode, but they kept falling out regardless of the ear cap size (I also tried Comply memory foam tips but they didn't help). I ended up returning the Bose Sport Open Earbuds and getting Powerbeat Pro earbuds. The Powerbeat Pros have higher quality sound for music with better bass response than the Bose (but not overly strong bass in my opinion), are fully secure on my ears and are comfortable for me (I use the smallest tips, which are smaller than the Airpod Pro small size).

Wait for version 2.0
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good - the sound is high quality, and these headphones still allow you to hear some ambient noise, which is a huge safety benefit if you are running or cycling. The headphones feel a little strange at first, because they aren't a tight fit around and over the ears, but they stay in place just fine. The bad? Start with the battery life, which doesn't come close to the advertised 8 hours. I'm getting about 5 hours on a full charge, which is awful for headphones that cost $200. Also, these earbuds become uncomfortable behind the ears after a while (for me, anyway) because they are made of hard plastic. Imagine wearing ill-fitting glasses all day that rub behind your ears, and you get the idea. The part that goes behind the ear could be made of hard rubber to allow a small amount of adjustment. I think the next version of these earbuds might address some of the issues (the battery life, at least). More should be expected for this price.

It's great to hear you're impressed with the sound quality and stability of these open earbuds. I'm sorry that you've found them to be a little uncomfortable after some time. It's also strange that you're only able to get 5 hours of battery life out of the product. I'd recommend taking a look at our support article here - https://bose.life/2ZnFC10.

Good not great
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall the quality of sound was really good, especially since it does not go in your ear, but sits on it. I wore these to run outside, took them to the store, and to the gym. If all you do is outside activities or use them for running errands, these are adequate for that. I ultimately ended up returning the headphones for the new Sony earbuds, for several reasons: 1. They are very noisy to others around you, since they do not go in your ear. The music and words can be clearly heard when in an environment that is not noisy. 2. Lack of low end sound. The bass is somewhat lacking, possibly because of how they are designed to sit on, not in, your ears 3. NO CHARGING CASE!!!! This was the most annoying to me. Who makes $200 true wireless headphones and does not give you a way to charge on the go?!?! I usually throw my headphones in my bag in the morning and use them later when going to the gym or running errands. The charging base that comes with the headphones is bulky and does not travel well. The first time I took the headphones out for the day, by the time I got around to using them the battery was already at 50%. I’m sure Bose will eventually create a charging case (for another $50, surely) and maybe then they would be feasible for someone on the go. So buy them if you want something that works great in open air environments where you would like to hear ambient sound and your music or if you run outside and would like to hear things going on around you. Otherwise, the noise cancelling Sony headphones for 229 offer a much richer sound, one click mic into the outside world, and have a case that gives the set an extra 12 hours of playtime.

Good but Could be Better
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headphones have a decent sound and I like that they don't need to be inserted in the ear and still allow you to hear your surrounding; however, they are much thicker than the photos would lead you to believe making them a bit more difficult to put on and a bit less comfortable than they would be if the part that went behind the ear was thinner. The second issue is battery life appears to be shorter than one would expect. If left in the case for any time, when you go to put them on the battery will be dead. To be fair, this may be because they lack an auto shutoff feature. I am so used to the Bose sun glasses that seem to have a battery life that goes on forever that I don't manually turn them off before putting them away in the case. With the sun glasses, you put them down upside down and they shut off so just putting them in my tray in my car leaves them ready for use the next time I put them on and they often still say 100% charged. That does not happen with these. Th instruction manual has no real information.

Best Bose product I've ever used
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have small ear canals, so traditional earbuds are awful for me and just won't stay in. I looked into these as a quality alternative, and they haven't disappointed. I am an audio snob and I'm not normally a fan of Bose products for their lack of dynamic range, but these headphones actually have pretty solid sound quality. The bass is there and the middle doesn't sound tinny in the way I've come to expect from Bose. They're a bit tight on my ears, which they have to be to stay on, but it can get slightly uncomfortable after a while. But I've worn these while working out and and they stay firmly in place. The included case is great, and while battery life isn't outstanding, they do charge pretty quickly. Overall a pricey but great buy.

Excellent sound but questionable fit
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound quality is excellent. Connectivity is generally good but loses connection occasionally -- I was cooking while listening to music through the headphones and periodically the audio would drop out in one ear, then the other, and then return to normal. I couldn't rule out interference from other devices in the vicinity, so I didn't remove any stars for this. On the negative side, I did struggle with the fit. When the headphones fit comfortably, they were not well-secured to my ears, to the extent that one of them fell off while I was walking around in a store. When I wedged my earlobes more tightly into the gap between the speaker and the plastic loop, they did not fall off, but the discomfort increased to where I couldn't wear them for an extended period of time. This might also be operator error but I did closely read the wearing instructions. -1 star for one-size-fits-all adjustment (or lack thereof).

Pretty good buds but to many drawbacks
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro- Good fit Good sound quality “Open” ear soundstage (great for run/biking) Con- uncomfortable fit for first few uses Has NO rechargeable case Poor/inconsistent batter Sound bleeding Pricey For a first gen product, I will say not bad. Sound quality is pretty good. Better than the Samsung “beans”. They fit is good snd hasn’t fallen off my ears even when on workouts. However it can give a pinch or two for the first time you wear it. These headphone are good for workouts or anywhere where you want to be aware of your surroundings. These are pretty pricey For something that doesn’t have a charging case have pretty bad sound bleeding and pretty bad battery. I only average about 5 before I have to charge them again. It wouldn’t be a major problem if it did have a rechargeable case but they have decided to put it all on the headphone. Conclusion, I would wait for a gen 2 or look for alternatives, to many drawbacks at the moment. Heck even the AirPods are cheaper and you still can still be aware of your surroundings.

I'm glad to hear that you enjoy the open ear design and the sound quality!
The fit of these open earbuds can be quite tricky when using for the first time. We do have a great video here: https://bose.life/3a4WcHU, that explains how to fit these headphones into the best position.
In terms of sound bleeding, due to the design of these earphones, this is expected. Although, we have passed this feedback to our development team for review to see if there is anything that can be done to improve this.

Good sound, can still be aware of my surroundings
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are to replace my regular AirPods which I adore, but they break as soon as they get rained on. I hate or despise the new AirPod pros. They don’t stay in my ears and I don’t like having things jammed in my ears. It makes me feel like my ears are plugged. I Pros: Great sound I can hear ambient noise around me when doing activities outdoors or when listening to a book at work. -Pretty stable on the ears. Don’t slip. -water resistant Cons: -They don’t charge in the case ?!? Who decided that’s a good idea?? -If they slip, usually when I’m wearing a hat and sunglasses I lose the Bluetooth connection. -Clunky interface. I don’t like that I have to open a separate app to figure out what’s going on with them. I think Bose engineers think that their interface is cool but it’s over engineered so it’s not slick. -I wish these were made by Beats or Apple for a more seamless experience with my iPhone. -

Don't Work Consistently
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose these headphones because I cant fit buds into my ears and because Bose usually has a great reputation. I love these headphones when they work, but I've had problems on multiple occasions. The headphone will behave as if they're connected, they show the correct lights and my phone recognizes them, however they won't make any sound. It wont even give the initial battery charge input so im confident its not a connection problem. Considering the price of these, I expected they'd have lasted longer than 14 months (and that just when I finally decided to review the problem, not the first time it ever affected me). Its a serious pain when youre excited for a workout and your pump is lost because your headphone wont work when you get to the gym.

Great Open-Ear Option!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, they sound fantastic! Good bass and they hit a good range of sounds. Battery lasts a long time and build quality is solid! However, the case not charging the headphones is pretty inconvenient. They charge quick, but at this price range, a charging case would have been nice. The plastic that goes behind the ear also cause some discomfort, a softer material with some give or that could be bent would have been preferred. If your job or environment requires your ears to be open, these are a decent option. Better than bone conduction to me, these are more like mini speakers

Truly Surprising Sound Quality!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The sound on these open earbuds is nothing short of incredible! I've used these on mountain bike rides because I like to be able to hear what's going on when I'm out on the trails. The sound is clear, the base is really good. I've read that the base is not as good as in earbuds but that is to be expected in my opinion. That being said, I have no complaints with the sound profile. Bose recently updated the headphones to allow volume control on the actual ear buds instead of limiting you to volume control on your phone. My one issue with the earbuds is the lack of adjustability around your ear. They are hard plastic so that does limit the fit. They fit mostly ok with me but I could see how they'd be a little uncomfortable after wearing them for a long period of time. Other than that, these are incredible headphones.

Headphones are great, chargering is frustrating
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Headphones feel awkward on the ear at first. It takes a little time to get used to the music experience form the headphones. Like the fact I'm able to hear my surrounding environment, while listening to the music. Experience head phones No charging case, charging is done with a sperate charger. So if out and about and headphone and need charging, there is placing them in the case for 10 minutes to a charge. Having difficult time charging headphones, let them sit on the charger for hour or more. When I go to use them within hour or two after removing them the chager. I get messages they are 20% charged. Also there should be light indicating they're being charged and their is no light blinking on the headphones. I like the fact they are not earbud style. Music quality it great for this type of headphone. Workmanship of headphones is week, issue with charging. Only had them over a month now. For the price, the headphone case should double as a charger.

Not too sure about these..
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.they are very bulky. I bought them for my man. He doesn't mind the look but I almost feel they look like hearing aids. He uses them while at work so I've never heard them while in conversation but you do sound clear from the other end. Shortly after purchase they began having connectivity issues. We have tried all troubleshooting per Bose website, Youtube, etc. Going to try and get them replaced with the warranty. Not sure what that issue is but for the brand and price paid, we shouldn't have these constant issues. I personally have the bluetooth sport ones that are connected to eachother by wire, loops around the back of your neck and sit inside of the ear. Those are super great. Been using them for years and have NEVER had an issue.

Good sound, Tricky Fit
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sound is very good for an open environment earbud. However, a major issue with the design, is that the fit cannot be adjusted to size with your ear. For example, my right ear fits fine, but my left ear doesn't and there's no way to adjust the earbuds (they're not flex-to-mold like some others), so the sound doesn't hit quite right, which brings me to another point. The "sweet spot" is fairly small, so these are either a yes or no proposition. Also, the case doesn't charge the buds, instead, it comes with a proprietary cable to charge outside of the case. This looks to be a cost cutting measure, as they don't have to add a battery to the case. Overall, they are little pricey for what you get. If they were adjustable, I would seriously reconsider.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
