Fantastic Sound - Tough On Ear

I loved the concept of these headphones and really wanted them to work for me. I currently use AirPods Pro or Powerbeats Pro for my runs and workouts and I am not a big fan of the air pressure on ear drums from those inside the ear headphones. However, after using these headphones for a couple of days and using them for a couple of runs, I had to return them. The sound quality is fantastic, and they stayed snugly in place throughout my runs. However, the way these headphones are designed, the top part of your ear (called the helix: https://hearinfinity.com/how-hearing-works/), does the work of holding these headphones in place. Moreover, the headphones are quite heavy (felt heavier than AirPods pro and Powerbeats Pro. So, after an hour of run, my ears were tender to the point of being painful. I also tried them during my Zoom calls - and even though the sound quality is excellent, with glasses, it becomes even more painful. Now, I am sure that this is a very personal thing - your ears might be stronger than mine, so I will definitely encourage you to try them and see if they work for you. But for me, this was a deal breaker issue and I had to return mine. Other minor issues: - Storage container is not a charger. There's a separate, bulky charger with no battery backup - Switching between two devices is not seamless. I had to first manually disconnect from iPhone before connecting it to Macbook

      Hello,

Thanks for taking the time in providing us with your feedback, sorry to hear that you had some concerns with the fit.

The Bose Sport Open Earbuds were rigorously designed and tested for comfort and stability. They’re purposefully molded to follow the natural curve of your ear, resting comfortably and securely in place without covering it. Plus, a matte finish provides additional grip and reassurance that each earbud is secure no matter how much you move. These are also designed to be compatible with typical helmets, glasses, sunglasses, and earrings. For your classes we suggest placing on your earbuds first, then adding your glasses.

      Kind regards,

Good sound quality, loud enough but not as loud as a normal headphone. These are pretty unique, I use them when biking and I like having the awareness of noises around me for safety.

I Love the sound on these and they do stay on my ears for working out, even though I have giant ears! I feel like this is the most important part about these headphones. That being said, a few things were overlooked and thus I docked one star in the review. #1 No volume control on them at all, you must control that with your phone. #2 The case is not what charges them, there is a separate piece/cord that you have to use to charge these. The case is just to keep them, NOT charge them.

OK - Always have loved Bose Products and own many. Sound is pretty good considering the open ear design and purchased so I could hear people when they speak and have earbuds. The phone function is horrible, music comes through fine but voices calls are very hard to hear even at max volume. A problem never had with the in ear Bose earbuds. Battery life is no where close to the 8 hrs advertised. Not comfortable, no charging case, seem to become misaligned and stop charging on base station charger if there is any movement at all. Very disappointed.

      Hey there,

Glad to hear that you're enjoying the sound of the Sport Open Earbuds.

I am sorry that you're experiencing some issues with the call quality and battery life. Does the issue with the call quality happen across all calls? Are you making cellular calls or VoIP(WhatsApp, Zoom, etc) calls? I'd recommend connecting your earbuds to another device to see if this issue is consitent.

For the battery life, please take a look at our support article here - https://bose.life/2ZnFC10.

Firstly I’m a Bose man and sound is pretty good and what you come to expect from Bose. However functionality is where the product falls flat. It’s clunky and heavy and if you wear glasses for vision or sports then good luck wearing both. It’s simply such a poor fit I’m surprised Bose did not resolve this before pushing to market. Battery runs out pretty quick with consistent use and I find it hard to charge the earpiece when plugged into a computer port. It just doesn’t charge efficiently, maybe it’s something to do with the sleep mode but my beats don’t have this issue. On the whole I don’t think the product is great value.

Hello Kay, I am so happy to hear you love Bose and our quality audio. Your headphones need a 5V charger, which your laptop may not provide. This may be why you are having issues charging them. In terms of fitting the headphones, proper fit is important for product comfort and performance. Get tips on how to properly fit and adjust your earbuds here https://bose.life/3nF6enK.

Good sound, excellent means of staying aware. I wish the lobe loops had some flexibility to better conform to individuals' ears. Too bad they do not have any features like touch for volume or other. It's just a button. We are in 2021 and I am still pressing buttons on an expensive device. For nearly $200, I expected more from the Bose family. I own other Bose devices and this one made me say....eh....I should've purchased something from Plantronics.

Still searching for the perfect ear buds... The overall sound quality (highs, mids) is pretty good, however, the base is severely lacking on these. The fit seems like it should be perfect, but due to the weight of each bud and fit of the hard plastic ear hooks, these buds sit heavy on the top and front crest of the ears and after an hour there is definitely a sore, dull ache associated with these. This is due to the pressure of the buds. Lining the inside arches with a memory foam typo material might prevent this.

Loved them , sound was perfect , and loved the over ear! BUT after about an hour of wear they were just too hard on the back of my ears. Almost felt sore after taking them off, and I have tiny ears. They’d be perfect if they had a softer material. I also kept accidentally turning the volume down especially if I just wore with one ear :/

    Great Earbuds for Running

I bought the Bose Earbuds for running. It was very easy to setup (make sure to do the firmware update...after I updated the earbuds the option for volume control became available). The first few times of using them, I found the fit for my left ear was fine. However, the right ear fit caused minor discomfort. It takes awhile to figure out how it really fits on your ears. If you've used earbuds that fit into your ear you'll want to push these a bit more then they should be. You'll have to play around with it a bit to find that good fit. I've had previous wired Bose earbuds but they always shorted out after 3-4 months of usage. The wireless gives me far more freedom while running (no playing around or adjusting the wire while running). The sound quality is what you would expect from Bose. My only problem is I wish I could get more volume. I set my iPhone volume to max which is fine for the earbuds. But it would be nice to be able to go a bit louder. I use the Bose app on my iPhone to connect the earbuds. It's an easy app to setup and use.

These things are very uncomfortable after wearing for a short time. They hurt the back of your ears. The batteries have a very short life span. Being Bose I thought would be superior product. Nope They sound good but the tap option sucks you have to tap ear pieces multiple times to work. No where near worth $200. I have a $40 set that puts these to shame.

I guess I was expecting more from Bose on these but hopefully with a future release they can correct ALL of the mistakes they made. My main complaint is the fit, the handles that go around the ear are huge they are made from a thick hard plastic so you can feel them the whole time you wear them and it makes your ears stick out. The sound increase decrease function is very slow to react and isn't practical I tend to take my phone out and re adjust the sound that way. The Bluetooth technology for this is also poor I find they work great around the house but when taking them running they can cut in and out pretty often I had to get a phone armband to keep the distance between phone and open ear buds at a minimum ( I contacted Bose about this specific problem the said it's just normal behavior for this product). The good thing about them and it's the only thing is the sound it's top notch as you would expect. If your mulling over the idea of getting these I would wait until there is a better model released. My suggestion for Bose is to fix the handles that go around the ear instead of rigid boxy plastic make if thin and rubbery that has a wire that will make it stay close to your ear or head also allow for a strap to be fitted so if I need to take them off they can go around my neck instead of caring the case around with me or shoving them in to my pocket.

The bose sport open earbuds drain the battery from 100-0% in 24 hours with them completely turned off, they are extremely uncomfortable to wear for more than 30 mins, the case does not have built in charging, the app has no EQ settings, the phone calls from these earbuds are worse than a pair of $1 store earbuds, and the sound stage of the music is not consistent they go from loud and clear to super quiet and flat constantly in the same song (almost sounds like someone is messing with the volume levels while your listening) Bose has failed on this product. The good: They sound pretty good if you aren't in an extremely noisy gym, and it's nice to be able to press pause and talk to someone without having to remove the earbud and have an open sound. DONT BUY THESE! Spend your money on the quiet comforts or the sports in ear, or a different brand.

I *really* want to like these headphones. The biggest pro is having my ears available to hear noises on the street (even Air Pods plug them up enough to make me paranoid), and the sound quality is good. But I just can't let go of the huge negatives: - The case doesn't charge the ear buds - There's a proprietary charger that takes up space and won't work for anything else but these headphones - Battery life is not good. After a 20 min walk i'm down to 80%. I put them in the case and turn them off and when I walk the next day they are at 40% or 60%. - They hurt after like 30 mins and my ears vibrate. - Not great when you are wearing glasses. I got these at less than retail and based on my experience I think they are still overpriced based on the negatives. But I guess you are paying for the name alone. Suffice it to say that my Air Pods are still the gold standard, and I really wanted to hate those.

While the sound quality and design is what I would expect from Bose, the battery life is very disappointing. I bought these for my wife back in January of this year. She is an avid runner and doesn't like to wear ear buds because she wants to be aware of her surroundings. She did enjoy these but was commenting to me about the battery life. After a 5 mile run she turned them off and put them in the case, after being in the case and off for a couple of days, one was at 10% and the other was completely drained when she took them out for a run. Obviously she couldn't use them. At first I thought it was something with the charger maybe they were not fully charged to begin with, so I charged them and turned them on it said they were at 100% I turned them off and put them in the case. 2 days later I took them out turned them on and they were less than 50%. I expected more from a product that is as costly as these.

Hello Steve, I am so happy to hear that your wife loves the sound quality and design of her new headphones. The battery life from the headphones is up to an impressive 8 hours. Did you know just two hours fully charges your earbuds and gets you up to eight hours of continuous play? Or if time is short, a quick 30-minute charge gets you up to three hours. Reach out to us if you need any support with this.

I loved these open ear buds. I hate that I had to return them because of 2 reasons that is very important to me . Comfort - they are so comfortable that you won't even realize you are wearing them until you take them off . It made the back of ear hurt so bad . ( the piece that goes behind the ear is really thick). Also , I found it really annoying to place earbuds on charger because its hard to see exactly which earbud is R or L to place on charging devise. They are easy to fall off the magnet charger too, if not laying perfectly straight on flat surface. I really wish the earbuds would charge in case . The case is nice that it comes with . I love Bose and it was so easy to set up on app because I own several bose products for many yrs . I wished Bose would update this awesome concept of open ear - wireless earbuds ( making ear piece thinner & battery charger in case .

These are my 4th brand and type of true wireless headphones in 3 months. Fit has been mu biggest concern, clearly my ears are not like anyone else on the planet. The second i saw the wrap around, i ordered the BOSE. The fit i'll admit is a bit awkward at first, it feels like they should be a bit more snug. However i can't shake them off, at all. The sound is actually pretty amazing for being on the outside of the canal. Control from the buds themself fairly limited, need the app or phone/watch to even adjust the volume. The Bose App is garbage, never been able to get them setup in the app, the buds connect just fine to my S20+, but Bose app never recognized or found them, just stalls out "trying" to connect. Phone conversation, i can hear great, but the microphone picks up the slightest wind, despite claims of technology to mitigate it. The person on the other end asked to hangup because the wind noise was so bad. It wasn't more than a 5mph day.
