I’ll wrap this up for you right off the bat. You won’t regret buying this but you probably won’t love it either because there’s nothing that makes it stick out. I already have two soundbars, so this is my third and I was interested in giving it a shot since Bose is always known for their quality. Out of the box, what I noticed is that this was a very simple setup. It comes with the power cord, soundbar, remote, S-cable to hook up to the TV, and some instructions (which aren’t great). One of the selling points with this is the ease of setup since it can be done through S-cable or HDMI. However, to save Bose a buck, they only come with the S-Cable, so it Forces your hand to use that method or else you’ll have to pony up for a spare HDMI cable. Setup itself was quite simple. I was able to take out my old soundbar, get this new one in, connect to my TV, pair with my Bluetooth, and check out the sound options in under 10 minutes. The first noticeable drawback was that the remote was setup as laser/infrared focused, instead of radio/Bluetooth setup. That won’t matter to some but it always annoys me because it means you have to point at the device to use the remote. If anything obstructs it or you don’t want to take your hands out from under the blanket... sorry charlie. It’s also a stand-alone soundbar instead of coming with a separate bass attachment, which is more common. Due to this the sound is generally coming at you instead of surrounding you. Again, it’s not good or bad, just not ideal. You do get a full sound from what’s a relatively small bar, and it’s biggest strength in my opinion is that it has “dialogue mode” which simply just raises the tenor quality so you can better understand dialogue on what you’re watching. Probably the most detracting part of the device is that it’s the only soundbar that I have owned where you couldn’t seem to pair it with your cable remote, which is such a key feature. It’s certainly possible that it’s an option but it isn’t discussed in their instructions or box, nor could I find any way to do it after googling online. One work around to that is that you can setup the soundbar to turn on when the tv should be playing sound, so when you turn your tv on with the tv remote, it’s up and running, but the obvious con of this is that when you turn the tv off, the soundbar doesn’t turn off too, so you’re back to using the soundbar remote. Overall, it’s not the end of the world, but just short sighted. The actual sound quality is solid but I didn’t notice anything much better than my prior soundbar. The remote has options to turn the bass up, but since the soundbar or remote don’t have display on them, it’s hard to tell how much the bass is actually up or down until something big happens on your screen. I wouldn’t recommend this soundbar, It’s fine but nothing special. Maybe the next time they’ll add a display to the soundbar, allow it to pair with your tv/cable remote, and improve the remote so it doesn’t have to be pointed at the TV. The only way I can see this being a good purchase, would be for someone in a smaller space that doesn’t need all the extra bells and whistles like a college dorm or studio apartment. Someone who is wanting an improved sound but not much more than that.

      Hi there,
Thank you for your in-depth review of the Bose TV Speaker.
I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the 'Dialogue Mode' feature.
Regarding your inquiry, you can add an additional bass module via a wired connection. The compatible bass modules for this system is the Bass Module 500 and the Bass Module 700.
      Thanks!

The Bose- TV Bluetooth Speaker is amazing. It is equivalent to having a hearing aid for the first time you didn't know you needed. It has a small sleek design and it fits perfectly positioned on the bottom center of my television. Ok, so, the speaker itself comes with a s optical chord and a power chord or you have the option for a HDMI cable as well. I have it programmed so when my television is powered on the speaker itself powers on also. Love this feature. It has a bluetooth option obviously, and completely sets up with ease to any bluetooth device with little effort. This is great as a more modern must for any sound bar speaker for the technology out today. I love how the volume from the television can either be muted so it is just the speaker you hear or you can use both speakers to give it the most crisp sound you will ever hear on any television speaker period. I'm in love with this speaker. When I talk about the sound, I absolutely cannot understand how I was able to even hear just the speaker inside of the television by itself. The Bose speaker is impeccable . It is the clearest quality, no static at all, innovation in todays technology. You can also not only change the volume and dialogue on the remote, which is almost all you need, but it would not be a Bose speaker without the massive base that can be maximized on the remote. This speaker doesn't compare to any other product in this field. Not to mention the simplicity of just plugging in the chords and enjoying. I am completely blown away and in love. This speakers quality is absolute perfection! Worth every penny.

I was anxious to set up this new soundbar; I was tired of having to either change remotes or switch inputs when I was going from the cable box to the Roku. I initially set this up with my Sharp LC-60P6070 tv which is about 5-6 years old. If you want to take advantage of the ARC (Audio Return Channel) you need to plug an HDMI cable into the Bose unit, then connect it to an HDMI port on the TV that labeled ARC. Herein starts the confusion. While ARC is the standard label for the back of the tv; there's a plethora of what they call it in your tv manual. It could be Anynet, Simplink, Bravia Link, or in the case of my Sharp, Aquos Link. I tried every option I could in the settings - in the audio section, the setup section; nothing would allow it to communicate via the HDMI cable. I finally admitted defeat & hooked it up via the provided optical cable. I left it like that for 2 days, then decided to move it to bedroom to take advantage of a newer tv - another Sharp, but this time only a year old. I hooked up the HDMI cable between the tv & soundbar, went into the tv settings & enabled HDMI-CEC (yeah, that's what they called it on this Sharp Model - maddening!) and voila, it worked! Turning on the tv turned on the soundbar. Now for the next test - switched inputs to the Roku, and yes, I have sound! Volume was also controllable via the cable box remote. No more handful of remotes required! Then into fine tuning,. The Bose remote has a bass button, click it and 2nd light comes on in the unit. You can then use the volume up/down buttons to increase/decrease the amount of bass. There is also a dialogue mode button which as it states in the pamphlet "increases the clarity of dialogue." Problem is, there's no further description. When you press the button, the led on the unit changes from white to green to amber, which is 3 different modes. Of course you choose the mode that sounds best to your ears. But it would be nice to add a few words about it. That's the problem nowadays with most included "manuals." They're either full of pictograms, not actual words, or they tell you to go online. As you can see in the picture I included, they do give you a website, but when I went there, there was nothing on this model - probably because it's too new & they haven't caught up. One nice feature of this model is that the HDMI & power inputs are angled & inset (see photo) so that the unit takes less shelf space & you can almost, but not quite, butt it right up against your tv stand. Just take care not to block the bass vent in the back of the unit. Another good feature is that the power cord is actually a power cord. A lot of smaller soundbars out there use a power supply, and then you're hunting for plug space behind the tv where you already have too many power supplies trying to share the same space. This one only takes a single outlet spot, the power supply is built into the unit. If you're looking at this, you've probably bought Bose before, as I have. To my ears, it has that trademark Bose aura to it, pleasant even at louder levels. And the bass, well I think it's fair to say for a small unit it can put out an impressive amount for its size. It's a good choice for what I'm using it for, a bedroom. If you're looking for something to fill a home theater room, you're in the wrong place. Me, I'm happy that the tv sounds good & I got the ARC feature working so I don't have to press multiple buttons when I want to watch some Netflix. One thing I'm not impressed with is when I initially turn on the tv, it powers on the soundbar, the light comes on, and then there's a delay of about 5-6 seconds before the sound kicks in - like I'm waiting for tubes to warm up. If it bothers me enough, there's an option on my tv settings to disable power on device, I'll just leave the soundbar on constant power. Overall this comes with my solid recommendation; along with the caution that the newer your tv, the better a chance you'll have at getting a successful setup with ARC, and the features that provides.

I read a lot of online reviews for budget soundbars and eventually narrowed my options down to the Bose TV Speaker and the Sonos Ray. I listened to both on the floor at Best Buy, but honestly, that didn’t help much with the decision. In the end, I chose the Bose after doing more research on bass output. After installing it and using it for a few months, here’s my take: Simply put, the Bose TV Speaker is a really nice upgrade from a TV’s internal speakers. The bass has a nice little punch, and the overall sound clarity is very good. This speaker won’t rattle the room or blast the neighborhood, but that’s not really its purpose. If you have a small room or a space that isn’t meant to be a full home theater, you’ll likely be very satisfied with this upgrade. Shows and movies have clearer dialogue, and when the moment calls for it, you get nice bass that simply wasn’t there before. In addition, I used the HDMI eARC connection to integrate with the TV remote. It works, but seems a bit finicky at times.

Recently bought this Bose soundbar and it has completely transformed my TV experience. The audio is crisp, dialogue is incredibly clear, and the bass adds depth without being overwhelming. Movies and shows sound so much more immersive now. Setup was quick and straightforward; it connected smoothly and worked with my TV right away. The design is sleek and modern, and it blends perfectly into my living room setup. If you’re looking for a soundbar that delivers rich, room-filling sound with zero hassle, this Bose model is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

Very Pleased With The Bose Soundbar

This soundbar was easy to set up, connects to the tv wirelessly, and the sound is really good for just a single soundbar without a subwoofer/extra speakers, etc. We got this after trying out an LG single soundbar that was less expensive, but the LG one was quieter than our built-in TV speakers on our 65 inch LG TV. We returned the LG and realized we would need to spend a bit more. After trying out the Bose in the store where they had a display of it, we went with that one. It was around $180 more but well worth it. I'm sure there are more expensive, elaborate multi-speaker set ups that may be more theatrical but if you want better, louder sound for watching movies and want a single simple soundbar setup, then this is definitely the one I would recommend. It is more affordable and delivers decent, clear sound and enhances movie watching.

I got this sound bar to improve sound quality on my t.v. It is perfect size to slide under the t.v. base. Very easy to hook up and get started. This comes with a remote of which has a wake setting. The speaker will turn on when you turn the t.v on. You also have the option to personalize your sound experience. The base is great on this sound bar and really makes listening to music so much better. Sound is very clear and makes movies alot more fun as well. My watching and listening experience is so much better and something I now look forward to.

I really like how this TV speaker enhances the sound of my tv. It also does a great job with the clarity of the tv as well when people are talking and such. This was extremely easy to setup which was a big plus. The remote is pretty small and skinny so it could be easy to loose if you don’t put it in the same spot every time. The Bluetooth functionality of this works great. I like that you can also add more bass to this speaker later on down the road if you so choose. Overall I am very impressed.

This is a very good TV speaker for our regular sized room. It’s easy to set up and use. The sound is full and clear. You could also use the speaker in an office or den connected to a Wi-Fi source, like a smart phone, a computer or a pad. The remote is rather small and the symbols are a bit hard to see, but it’s easy to use. There’s a button to connect with your TV and another for a Wi-Fi source. The speaker can be connected to your TV with either the supplied optical cord or with an HDMI cable.

    Enhancing TV Audio with Elegance

As an audiophile and a fan of minimalist design, I was drawn to the Bose TV Speaker Bluetooth Soundbar. Right out of the box, its sleek, elegant design and compact size impressed me, blending seamlessly with my home décor without overpowering the space. Setup and Ease of Use: Setting up this soundbar was a breeze. The simple plug-and-play using the optical cable made the entire process hassle-free. The automatic sensing of connections is a thoughtful feature, saving time on manual adjustments. Sound Quality: The soundbar’s performance exceeded my expectations. Despite its compact size, the bass is surprisingly robust, providing an immersive audio experience. The dialog mode is another highlight, enhancing speech clarity, making it perfect for movies and TV shows where every word counts. In smaller rooms, the soundbar truly shines, offering a soundstage that feels both wider and deeper than any standard TV speaker. Bluetooth Functionality: The Bluetooth connectivity is a welcome addition, allowing me to effortlessly stream music from my phone. This versatility adds to its value, making it more than just a TV soundbar. Limitations: While the lack of advanced features like Dolby Atmos might be a downside for some, for my needs, the sound quality and simplicity of the Bose TV Speaker far outweigh these omissions. The absence of HDMI inputs is slightly inconvenient, but not a deal-breaker. Value for Money: Although on the pricier side, I believe the soundbar justifies its cost with its performance and build quality. It’s a perfect fit for those who appreciate premium sound without the complexity of a larger system. Conclusion: The Bose TV Speaker Bluetooth Soundbar is a testament to the idea that simplicity and quality can coexist. It’s an excellent choice for anyone looking to enhance their TV’s audio experience with a product that combines elegance, ease of use, and exceptional sound quality. Rating: 4.6 out of 5 stars – A superb investment for enhanced TV audio.

BUILD QUALITY/AESTHETICS: It is solid. There is no creaking anywhere on the device. It has a good weight to it. The shell is mostly plastic with the grill being metal. It has minimal branding with a small writing of “Bose” in the middle of the device. Overall, it looks very sleek. The inputs are on the back right of the device. Which include HDMI (ARC) x1, Optical In x1, Aux In x1, Service x1, Bass (for external bass device) x1, and power x1. There are two LED areas to notify you if you are on TV or Bluetooth. There are NO BUTTONS on the device itself. Which means if you lose the remote you are out of luck and have a large expensive paper weight. The battery for the remote is also a watch battery. BLUETOOTH: The setup process is easy. Simply press the Bluetooth button on the remote, it will change the LED to a pulsating blue light with a jingle. Then go to your Bluetooth settings on your phone and select “Bose TV Speaker” and it will make a little chime and the LED will go to white. Do keep in mind to go back to normal sound you have to press the TV button on your remote. How do you know which one you are on? You can check which LED is on. If the white LED is on the left, then it is TV. If on the right, Bluetooth. They really should have color coated these. As I think going to white after connecting for the Bluetooth is silly since the LED for TV is also white. If you get up close to the soundbar you can also see if it is on TV or Bluetooth as well (see picture). SOUND QUALITY: The most important part of a sound bar is the sound. I made sure to leave this stock as I am sure that is how most people will listen to it. Meaning I did not adjust the bass and I did not have voice clarity on. As if it is a good speaker you should not need that. I will note that turning on the voice clarity did help, but only mildly, and was usually still not enough for those shows that I had difficulty hearing vocals with. I would say my viewing experience was 50/50. So, 50% of the time I had no problems hearing people and the other 50% I had great difficulty with or without the voice clarity setting on. To the point I had to turn on subtitles to prevent my speaker from blasting. As in those times if I had the volume loud enough to hear the vocals the background music would be so loud it would hurt my ears. I run all my speakers through 14 different songs that test a bunch of things to identify the sound profile for that product. Which I then use to try to objectively compare to other products. It also, gives me an idea how it will perform in multiple scenarios. I will start with audiophile terms and then go to laymen terms. The overall balance of the soundbar is poor. Background sound, usually highs and/or music, often overpower vocals. Especially those in the mid or bass range. It does much better with highs (female voices). However, all vocals sound veiled and congested, and you must focus to understand what they are saying and even then, details are often lost. Bass is anemic in most things. However, if you do adjust the base (which I recommend) it can become boomy and solid without ruining the sound further. It actually improves the overall sound. Mids show a lot of bloat. Highs are solid and I have no problems with them. All sounds lack full texture, punch, and dynamic range. It has great separation. Overall sound is not as natural as I want, and timbre is slightly off making things sound more processed than I would like. Soundstage is small and forward. It does not have any brightness, crispness, depth, detail, harshness, lushness, or sibilance. Moving onto simpler terms. The soundbar does not fill the room as much as it just shoots sound directly at you. For example, there are some speakers when you play something the sound surrounds you and sounds very realistic as if they are in the room with you. Other times it sounds like it is coming from a specific device from a specific and limited location and you have to be facing it to get the best sound. That is what these sound like. This speaker also focuses too much on the background noise for shows/movies. To the point I can hear birds chirping, a busy restaurant, traffic, and the ambiance fine. However, when someone goes to speak, I cannot understand what they are saying because the volume is too low for their voice and it just is not clear. Almost like someone is speaking through a mask. To the point where I have to turn up the volume and it makes it sound like I’m 80 years old when really I’m in my 20’s. I like low volume and not blasting it so my neighbors can hear what I’m watching. Bass also does not hit hard unless adjusted in which case it does. Mids are terrible all around. Highs are great. However, all sound is surface level. It lacks realistic tone, character, and depth. Overall, I do not like the sound. As I have an easier time hearing people talk with my normal TV speakers over this soundbar. Which defeats the entire purpose. PROS: -Build quality, appearance, and remote. CONS: -Sound quality and lack of buttons on the device itself. Also, a watch battery for the remote? CONCLUSION: I will keep this brief. The whole point of a soundbar is to be able to hear things better. I can hear nuances in shows that I normally cannot. However, I trade being able to hear those nuances instead of voices. Which is the main reason why we watch TV is to hear other people talk to drive a plot forward. Since it does this poorly, I simply cannot recommend this product. As much as I do not want it to be, it is a pass for me.

Hey, thanks so much for your detailed feedback.

It's great to hear that there are many things you're impressed with, including the design and appearance. I'm sorry that you've found the sound quality less pleasing. This speaker is absolutely meant to enhance your listening experience in comparison to your TV speaker. Are you able to try the alternative input connection, or just replacing the cable? It's possible a faulty cable could be causing poor audio quality.

I loved that this speaker was so easy to set up. Perfect for my decor and the balance of lows and highs is unmatched. The JBL soundbar delivers impressive sound quality with deep bass and clear dialogue, making it perfect for movies, music, and gaming. Setup is quick and easy, and the sleek design fits well in any living room. For the price, it’s a fantastic upgrade from standard TV speakers — powerful, reliable, and worth it.
