Huge upgrade in sound quality. It can be set to auto on and off. My old ones used to buzz very quietly when the computer was off which would drive me nuts. Not cheap but it's a solidly built upgrade. I haven't used it in a home theater setting, but I imagine it would be a solid upgrade over built in speakers.

Only thing is the cord that came with the speaker did not work with my TV. HDMI cable worked instead. From what I read, this is an issue coming from my LG TV, not the Bose speaker.

We thought our hearing was starting to suffer because we were aways turning up the TV volume & dialogue seemed muffled at times but with the soundbar, TV is crisper & clearer! We have two Oled LG TVs that we bought last November. Although we are pleased with the picture on them the sound was terrible. This sound bar fixed the poor sound on the TVs.

Voice amplification is great and the compact design keeps the TV stand clean and sleek. Don’t expect ATMOS surround like at the theaters / but perfect upgrade for almost any TV currently on the market.
