Good sound and high quality but not for me. I use them most in the gym and its nice to not have them right kn the ear. I find that the open ear though makes it hard to hear when there is so much noise around me.

I have larger earlobes, so they sit back further from my ear canal. I think for more normal sized ears this product would be even better. I could squish my earlobes for better audio quality and noise isolation, but the fit would no longer be secure. I personally find the spatial features to be gimmicky and turn them off for better battery life. Have had little bluetooth issues like some other wireless buds out there.

Bose Ultra Open-Ear Earbuds – Honest Review

The Bose Ultra Open-Ear Earbuds are excellent when it comes to music listening. The open-ear design delivers clear, immersive sound while still allowing awareness of your surroundings. For enjoying music during walks or at work, they perform exceptionally well. However, call quality is not the strongest. People on the other side of the call often struggle to hear my voice clearly—possibly a mic issue, though I’m not entirely sure. If calls are a priority, these may not be the best option. One more thing I noticed: the sound quality becomes even better when I bend my ears slightly forward, which obviously isn’t practical to hold all the time :-) . This might be due to my ear shape not perfectly matching the intended design :-) , so the fit could vary from person to person. Overall, despite a few quirks, these are among the best open-ear earbuds in this price range, especially if your main use is music and comfort rather than calls.

Good sound quality and impressive noise cancelling feature even though buds aren't fully in the ear. Pro - no in ear fatigue. The battery life is okay, could be better, but the buds do charge fast in the case.

I never had an open ear earbud before and these are great! Feels really good on my ear, the sound is what you paid for. Open ear means that you can hear your surroundings but also your music at the same time. When you tilt your head up or down, the music flows with the movement!

Comfort is best ever. Typical Bose sound quality (I think Bose is generally best in the audio market, though some folks disagree). The open experience is a bit different. I find it to be fine but my wife probably would not. Used them while at the dog park and had great listening expeirience, no ear discomfort, buds were secure the entire time, and could hear ambient sound but was not distracted by it. If concerned about ambient noise being an issue, i would try them first. But, the extreme comfort and great sound overcome any other distractions for me.

These Bose clip-on headphones are great if you don’t want full noise cancellation. They don’t block everything out, but that’s actually what I like about them. I can listen to my music while still being aware of my surroundings, especially when I’m out and about. Comfortable and convenient.

[Employee of bestbuy] Good wireless earbuds with a few glaring issues that hold them back from being great. The Good: Despite my initial fears, I love how these fit. I've never had issues with comfort. So much so that I no longer want to use the standard, in-ear earbuds. Having your ears free is so much nicer! They sound good! But with an asterisk... I'm not an audiophile, so I don't have the ear for different kinds of sound. But they are clear, no distortion, and I have no issue with how they sound. Physical control buttons! Touch panels are awful, so having physical buttons to use is great! They're the kind that you have to press and hold in different ways, but I'll take what I can get. I mostly use them for one-press play/pause. Easy to set up, and the app lets you set up the different audio modes easily. The Bad: Another app you're forced to use... Seriously, it gets tiring to have to download a new app for everything. The asterisk about sound? The default Stereo mode is not very good. Muted, dull, and not all that clear. Once you swap it to Immersive Audio, however, they pick up. Immersive Audio is a neat gimmick, but it's just that. A gimmick. I'm sure some people would like it, but I leave it on the motion one just for the better sound. The Ugly: That price is FAR too high for what these are! They're good, but nothing close to $300 good! Maybe $100, I'd argue you had something there. As much as I like the fit and think they sound good? No thank you. This is my second pair since my first decided to begin failing on me after a year of ownership. The case, for whatever reason, refused to charge if it was not being actively messed with. I'd only really use the left one, which is the one that would be dead the next day. Fully charged case and everything, but my bud would be dead unless I opened the lid, removed the bud, placed it back, and then it would charge. So... Good earbuds for way too much money, considering that these, like all wireless earbuds, are just rentals. You're going to scrap these in the future. Three batteries in these so ONE of them is going to give up one day. If you can get them at a massive discount, I'd recommend it. Do NOT pay full price.

We appreciate your detailed review! It’s great to hear that the fit and sound quality worked well for you, and that you found the physical buttons to be a huge plus. We understand the frustration with needing another app, however with the Bose app you can have control over multiple products using a single App. Your insight on long-term durability is also an important consideration. If you ever run into issues, we recommend reaching out to our support teams directly. You can get in contact via Social Media, or using this link: https://bose.life/globalsupport.

Love these ear phones! I have really small ears and these fit so comfortably without hurting them after long wear. I also love the open ear sound because I can run comfortably while being able to hear my surroundings without taking away from the quality of the sound.

The Bose Ultra Open-Ear True Wireless earbuds are a game changer. The open-ear design feels incredibly comfortable—I can wear them for hours without any pressure or fatigue. They stay secure even during workouts, but still let me stay aware of my surroundings. The sound quality is exactly what you’d expect from Bose: clear, balanced, and powerful. Music feels immersive, with great bass that doesn’t overpower the mids and highs. Calls are also crystal clear, and the noise management is impressive for an open-ear style. Battery life is solid, lasting easily through my day, and the charging case is compact and easy to carry. Pairing with my devices was seamless, and the controls are intuitive.

I loved these. I’m one who doesn’t like to have earphones go in my ears. But the comfort and lightness of them was fantastic. And they stay on throughout my workouts no worrying about them falling off. The sound was amazing. I only wished they had a tracking in case they get lost.

Shockingly Good Open-Ear Sound, But Major Micropho

The audio quality on these Bose Ultra Open earbuds is superb for an open-ear design. Music sounds full and detailed, with clear vocals and a pleasantly spacious, natural soundstage that feels more like listening to small speakers than typical earbuds. Bluetooth interoperability has been mixed in my experience. They pair and perform well with a modern Android phone using a Qualcomm chipset, with stable connections and no major glitches. However, performance with a Windows laptop using an Intel Bluetooth chipset has been less than stellar, with occasional connection quirks and a generally less reliable experience. The dealbreaker for me is the microphone quality, which is truly awful. Whether connected to my Android phone or my Windows laptop, people on the other end of calls and Zoom meetings frequently complain that my voice sounds extremely faint and often cuts out entirely. Other non-Bose earbuds and headphones do not cause these issues on the same devices, so it appears specific to the Ultra Open earbuds. The mic pickup was so bad that I actually exchanged my first pair, thinking they were defective, but the replacement unit has identical problems. On the comfort front, these are reasonably comfortable and light, and I can wear them for extended periods. That said, they are not as comfortable as other clip-style earbuds I’ve used, and after a while I do notice some pressure on my ears. If you want outstanding open-ear sound and mainly listen to music or podcasts, these can be fantastic. But if you need reliable microphone performance for calls or meetings, I cannot recommend them.
