Dont leave reviews often but thought i would share my two cents. I wanted an open ear pair of headphones for running. Tried the Cleer Arc 2 and returned them. They werent for me. Purchased these and they surprised me. Really love them. Very comfortable, good/great sound. And i dont feel anti socialt when i put them on because i can still hear whats going on around me (volume dependent). Needless to say i kept them and love them.

    Hear music AND your environment

Bose Open Earbuds Ultra is an interesting take on the open headphone/earbud concept. As an audiophile that also suffers from chronic ear infections, Traditional earbuds are a challenge to keep clean and keep from creating or exacerbating ear problems. This open ear concept is a wonderful creation and much better than bone conduction earphones. The way the Ultras "clamp" onto your ear takes some getting used to but they are not uncomfortable. The nice thing is that the position can be adjusted. Unlike traditional earbuds, these have a look more like a thick earring so it's not obvious you are wearing earbuds. Sound quality is good and clear, however due to the design, bass does seem to suffer. In a number of places these give the effect that the sound isn't in your ear, but rather coming from around you in the room like traditional speakers. You can also turn on Auto-Volume which raises and lowers the volume depending on your environment. As to be expected by design, there is no noise cancelling function. For people that are concerned with safety, or need to be able to hear ambient sounds due to their work or environment the open design ear means that you can really hear everything around you. Pairing is a breeze with no issues across multiple devices. Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Iphone 14, Galaxy tab 8. The Bose app is intuitive and gives you access to all the extended functions. If you already have the app for other Bose products, it's simple to add these in. A couple of detractors are the price and which at $299 is a little steep (But in my opinion worth it) and the phone call quality. Listeners said I sounded far off, and I would have trouble hearing callers in louder open environments. These are great for active people. Riding a mountain bike, jogging, working out at the gym and even vigorous headshaking did not cause them to fall off.

These earbuds are pretty great and sound you would expect from Bose! I usually prefer Active noise cancellation earbuds to block out all the noise but these are great when you need to listen to your surroundings like outside on the busy streets or the Subway where you might want to be more aware of your surroundings. Or if you bike or run outside and want to listen to Music but don't want to be distracted while doing those things. Inside the box you get to earbuds in the case along with a USB Type A cable to Type C. these are buds that don't go into your ear at all so you don't have to worry about ear tips or fit at all. I have tried other earbuds that try to do similar things to this where it sits on your ear and doesn't go in but I think I like this implantation the most. The bud has a small C shaped thing connected to this ball thing. The ball thing goes behind you ear and the other part wraps around your ear which has the speaker. It feels weird at first but once I got used to it was easy and I barely feel it. Sound wise it is great for what it is. Considering it doesn't go into your ear nor does it go over and cover your ears like ear buds or over the ear or on the ear headphones do you lose the bass response from these compared to those though. Besides that small flaw I found the bass to b clean and the sound overall to be clean and audible. I wish it could get a tad louder but it could be a fit thing I haven't figured out yet.

Best in the game when it comes to an open ear design and being able to hear everything around you. After trying top performers of none co ducting headphones these are def superior in sound quality. Although they won’t sound as good as quality open ear or closed back traditional headphones they do step it up from bone conducting headphones. I have never had them fall off and with the Bose app there is a 3 band eq to help take the top end. Overall I’m happy with the purchase.

Great except for calls.. so pointless

This concept is so cool and these are comfy and actually stay on even while running/exercising which I was doubtful of. Everyone is raving about the sound quality but these are just useless for calls. So disappointing because I love them otherwise. The volume is so low for calls, both incoming and outgoing, and sounds like you or the person on the other end are daw away/muffled. I take lots of calls for work and like to walk and talk too and its bad enough when it’s not too loud but when you’re in a noisy environment, like at the gym, it’s almost impossible to hear.

It's great to hear that the fit and comfort exceeded your expectations, especially during workouts! We also appreciate your feedback on the sound quality. However, we completely understand how frustrating it must be to struggle with call volume and clarity, especially when handling work calls. We recommend checking for firmware updates in the app, to ensure best performance. If the issue persists, our support team would be happy to help troubleshoot and find a solution for you! I purchased these headphones for my mother in law and she LOVES them. She didn’t want headphones that go into your ear as that bothers her ears so this was a great alternative and they don’t fall off.

Depending on your need, these are idea. I wear Sony in-ear hearing aids and, obviously, can’t all wear in-ear earbuds at the same time. These Bose Open-Ear Earbuds solve my problem. I can wear them along with my hearing aids and enjoy good quality sound wherever I go.

I love all these reviews about people talking about noise, cancellation, and how it doesn’t work. Lol these are designed not to have noise cancellation that’s why they’re called open ear they’re designed so you can hear the outside noise. People giving these one star ratings because of that are absolutely clueless. Sun quality is great and if you read the instructions on how to get the right fit, you’ll understand it is loud enough. Read the description and the instructions people.

    Exceeded my expectations

Based on complaints ive read, my expectations were low. Honestly, they quickly became my daily buds. Immersive audio is quite impressive but a lil harder on battery life. You get about 4.5-5 hrs with immersive and auto-volume. Stereo mode sounds really good too, and gives you almost 8 hrs of battety life at a comfortable volume. I rarely talk on the phone, so i can’t speak on the quality of phone calls. However, for music and podcasts while working with the public, these things are great!

Sound is pretty good in quite area. Harder to hear in somewhat noisy area. Left earbud keeps dropping out sound but controls still work. Too inconsistent for the $299 prive tag. Will be retuning mine.

These are fantastic for working out with. The sound quality is not as good as the other Bose products, but that is because these are open-ear, so I can accept that. I have gotten a few terrible ear infections over the last few years that I attribute to ear-in earbuds, so I wanted to try something new. I would recommend these if you have the same concerns as I.
