Very stylish and work well overall. The sound is good and they look great. However, during phone calls, people sometimes have trouble hearing me. Also, they don’t work with Siri, which is a bit disappointing.

It's a perfect alternative to earphones if you are not comfortable to continuously have earphones plugged into your ear. Can use it for extended duration without any discomfort. Sound quality is also good.

These Bose clip-on headphones are great if you don’t want full noise cancellation. They don’t block everything out, but that’s actually what I like about them. I can listen to my music while still being aware of my surroundings, especially when I’m out and about. Comfortable and convenient.

Bought for the sole reason of wearing while doing yard work and other outdoor activities. Sound is great, decent battery life and they stay in place. Have bought additional pairs for family members because they work so well.

These are both great, and not great at the same time. The greats- they STAY IN PLACE. These will not fall out or off while running, which is specifically why I bought them. They also sound wonderful! The not as great- They sometimes switch listening mode on their own, so the music will sound surround and full, then switch to a more transparent, dull sound all of the sudden. Sometimes the only fix is simply opening the Bose app then it correct itself, so unsure whats going on. Or I'll get a weird connection interference sound mid songs if other bluetooth devices are around it. Since this pair can be updated, hopefully these are software fixes. Once fixed this is a definitely 5 star pair of headphones.

      Hey Matthew,

Many thanks for leaving your initial thoughts of the Ultra Open Earbuds! It's great to hear you chose this product for your music listening needs and it's fantastic to learn they have fit you well, especially when you've been exercising.

With your feedback regarding them switching automatically, this clearly isn't normal behavior and not something that is expected to happen so we'd encourage you to reach out to us so we can learn more about the problem. If it's happening randomly, I'd also suggest resetting the buds and setting them up as a new device to see if a fresh connection makes any changes to performance. You can find instructions for resetting the buds here: https://bose.life/4eSKFfe.

Love these ear phones! I have really small ears and these fit so comfortably without hurting them after long wear. I also love the open ear sound because I can run comfortably while being able to hear my surroundings without taking away from the quality of the sound.

Not the Bose I Remember—Returned With Regret

The Bose Ultra Open Ear wireless earbuds just didn’t hit the mark for me—especially when it came to sound quality. I wanted immersive, enjoyable audio, but what I got felt flat and underwhelming for something carrying the Bose name. That said, my biggest issue isn’t exclusive to this model. It’s something I’ve noticed with multiple recent Bose Bluetooth headphones: the call performance has taken a serious hit across the board. The active noise cancellation (ANC), or maybe whatever processing is layered with it, seems to interfere with voice clarity. My voice is often transmitted lower than the background noise—leaving the person on the other end hearing more of my environment than me. With the Ultra Open Ear specifically, my wife and kids frequently told me I sounded like I was in a tunnel, or they’d hear their own voices echo back during calls. This happened whether I was moving in a car or even sitting stationary in my office. The clarity just wasn’t there, and it made hands-free calls frustrating instead of convenient. Bose still delivers on build quality and aesthetics, but they’ve drifted from the acoustic precision and reliability that made them a leader. It feels like the brand is leaning too much on its legacy—and less on making sure every new product is actually worthy of that legacy. I returned these, and I hope Bose takes feedback like this seriously.

    Excellent Listening Earbuds

I like the comfort and sound (despite the lack of bass) plus the ability to hear others around me, or the environment. My only dislikes are the fiddling to find the "sweet spot" in clipping the earbuds to the ear (it takes some practice) and the inability to hear in a noisy environment. At home, in a store, I can wear these and hear fine. But if you are in a noisy environment (an older model aircraft as I was recently) the buds are pretty useless. I have the Shokz open ear model, and they are good as well but the Bose are so light I forget they are on! I also have the Shokz bone conduction earphones, and they were fine too and better in noisy environments. I may travel with these and the Bose, and use whatever works best.

This are a great option for open ear headset, battery life is awesome and they can adjust to the ear in different positions. I like them for outdoors exercising. Sometimes it struggles to switch connections between windows and Mac or iPhone, but having the case nearby solves the problem.

Great sound quality. I love the range of volume, keeping it low lets you hear the surrounding but if you increase the volume you can focus on the music when needed. Been on several runs and they fit well, no movement. Still getting used to the control but so far very good product. I tried out shokz since they’re all the rave in the running community but didn’t come close to these. Someone swears I just got defective shokz but Bose always delivers on sound quality.

I bought these Bose Ultra Open-Ear Earbuds last year in the Sunset Iridescent color, and they have completely changed how I listen to music and podcasts daily. If you hate jamming silicon tips into your ears or get ear fatigue from traditional earbuds, these are a total game-changer. Design & Color First off, the Sunset Iridescent finish is absolutely stunning. It has a beautiful, premium shift in color that looks more like a sleek piece of jewelry or an ear cuff than a piece of tech. I constantly get compliments on them. The clip-on cuff design is incredibly lightweight; half the time, I completely forget I’m even wearing them. Sound Quality & Situational Awareness Bose’s OpenAudio technology is amazing. The sound is rich, crisp, and surprisingly private—people sitting right next to me can't hear my music. Because they leave your ear canal completely open, they are perfect for outdoor runs, walks, or working in an office where you still need to hear your surroundings or talk to people without constantly pausing your audio. Battery & Features The battery easily lasts me through a long workday (around 7 hours, or slightly less if using the Immersive Audio spatial feature), and the case charges them up incredibly fast. Things to Consider Keep in mind that these do not have Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). They are strictly designed to let the outside world in, so they aren't ideal for noisy airplane cabins. Also, the microphone for phone calls is just decent—perfectly fine for quick calls, but not studio-quality. Verdict After a full year of ownership, the durability has been top-notch. They are worth every penny for the comfort, awareness, and unique aesthetic alone!

Open ear headphones... doesn't seem what I need to drown out the noise. Decided to try them, and I have to say the fit is great and comfortable. The sound amazes me that it could be this good not even covering my ears. And nobody can hear them near me. Took a minute to find the right position for them but they have amazing immersive sound. Cant wait to actually try them in a louder environment. The fact that I forgot I had any headphones on is a plus. And they are easy to use. Easy setup and easy customization!
