I'm sorry to hear that you're not hearing much when you take calls using your Ultra Open Earbuds, Courtney! One thing to do is to ensure your earbuds are equipped with the latest firmware - version 4.0.22 was released to improve the customer's experience on calls. Also try rebooting your iPhone, to see if this resolves the connection problems you mentioned. If neither of these steps help, please contact our support team for further assistance: https://support.bose.com/s/get-help-landing-page?language=en_US. Unique Twist to Earbuds

Bose Open Earbuds Ultra are what Bose self describes as “Earbuds Reimagined.” It’s definitely varies from the current trend of earbuds. The earbuds do not actually go inside of your ear canal. So this means you can hear the outside world and noise cancellation is not a feature. These are not going to be earbuds that you’ll want to wear on an airplane or maybe at the gym. I wore them for about 3 days while cleaning and hanging out at home. They worked great for that purpose. The question you need to ask yourself before purchasing these is this: Do you want to be cut off from the world while listening to your music, podcast, etc. or to do like the idea of your music commingling with your everyday activities? The main pro of the Open Earbuds Ultra is that the sound quality is terrific which is to be expected from Bose. This should be the main thing when considering any kind of headphones and Bose delivers as always. It will take a moment to get use to the earbuds not being inside your ears. You can still hear all the highs, lows, bass and it sounds amazing. Again, a lot of your listening experience will come from how much noise there is in the background. Music will get drowned out if you’re in a noisy environment. Something else to keep in mind is that if you play music loud, others will be able to hear it. My daughter said she could hear my music when I turned my volume up to 70%. If The comfort of wearing the earbuds is both a pro and con to me. It actually feels better to me to not have earbuds inserted in your ear canal. Sometimes I feel like there’s pressure from wearing something like AirPods. Having the speakers sit right by your ear feels great. However the trade off is that the earbuds have to clip onto your ears which I didn’t find the most comfortable. I didn’t like the feeling of having something clamped to my ears even thought they were incredibly secure, more so than other earbuds. Another negative I have with the Open Earbuds Ultra is that I am not a fan of how they look aesthetically. This is a personal preference but I didn’t like the way it looked when I was wearing them. Others opinions will differ. I didn’t like the volume control either on the earbuds. It felt like it jumped too much when I wanted to volume higher or too low when I wanted it lowered. I ended up just using my phone to control volume. I really like these earbuds. I plan on using them around the house when I’m in a quieter environment. I do actually like the feeling of not having buds inserted into my ear. As I stated earlier, your intended use will really determine if these headphone will be an appropriate purchase for you. If you want to use while traveling, at the gym or have noise cancellation then buy a different set of Bose headphones. If you want to have the music integrated into your life but not feel like you’re completely cut off then I would highly recommend giving the Bose Open Earbuds Ultra a try.

Hi Vic, I'm sorry to hear your Ultra Open Earbuds didn't sit securely on your ears, and that you changed them for a different product. These earbuds are designed to fit a wide range of ears, thanks to their wraparound design. While they'll provide a slightly different experience compared to earbuds that sit directly in the ear canal, our Bose OpenAudio technology is designed to direct rich-quality Bose audio into your ears, whilst keeping them open to the world around you. I hope this information is useful! Warm regards, Fiona M. - Bose Customer Support bose

I've Been Searching For These For A Long Time...

So I started out with Sennheiser Momentum True 3 earbuds. They irritated my ears so I returned them. Thinking that all in ear earbuds are not all the same I went out on a limb and purchased The BOSE Quiet Comfort II's and the same thing they irritated me but because I didn't know about the open ear category at the time I kept them living with the discomfort thinking that this is as good as is gets. Enter this new category of open ear head phones that I discovered. Hmmm these might be good to look into. So now as a experienced consumer I set up some criteria for open ear head phones and I wanted all the boxes that were important to me to be checked or I would take a pass: * They have to comfortable and not hurt my ears. CHECK * They have to be lightweight and not bulky like all the other open air head phones. CHECK * They must sound good realizing they won't sound as good as in ear head phones CHECK * They must be comfortable in bed when I lay on my side. These are the FIRST headphones I can wear to bed and fall asleep to music while wearing them. With all the others it's like wearing a light bulb sticking in your ear when I lay on my side. BIG CHECK * Noise cancellation wasn't important to me because I have both BOSE N700 and Sennheiser Momentum 4 over the ear head phones for noise cancellation when I'm mowing the lawn or on an airplane. CHECK While I would like these to be more affordable they check all the boxes for me and that's why I bought them. While the other open ear specs are better. I don't listen to specs. I listen to music and I think they sound great! David

I had to start off with the fact that I absolutely love these Bose earbuds and am sure you will too! Audio The audio is great. It's on level with what you would expect from a Bose product. Initially, I thought there were concerns with the sound volume and then I discovered I was wearing them incorrectly. I laughed to myself and happily heard the sound much better once I actually put them on properly. The sound is great. What I also love is that backwards, they weren't as audible which tells me that others aren't able to eavesdrop on my conversations which is reassuring. Style/Fit I wasn't sure how well I would love the design, but I don't like things hanging on top of my ear. When I wear glasses, the over the ear type of headset interferes with my glasses or vice versa. That isn't an issue with these. Another thing I love is that the fit doesn't cover my earrings. I have other headsets that sit on my ears and cover my earrings, which is sometimes uncomfortable. This fit is just perfect. They are also incredibly discrete so at a glance you may not even realize that I have earbuds on. My airpods are white so it's very apparent when I'm using them. I much prefer these being black because they easily disappear in my brown hair compared to airpods. Connection The earbuds connect seamlessly. I use these at work which work computers can sometimes be a challenge on connecting to various devices, but the connection with these Bose earbuds is seamless. It's easy to identify and use them. I also use them with my personal computer and the experience there was also seamless. Easy is awesome. Easy to operate and a great battery life. Hours of life before needing to charge and they charge relatively quickly and are ready for the next round of listening. My absolute favorite feature is just the style and fit. I have never owned another pair of earbuds that have this design. It really sets Bose apart with what they deliver in the design and feel of this product. I love it! I use a variety of different products for my audio needs between working from home and at the office and this set is my new favorite!

These Bose Ultra Open Earbuds are my first experience with an open ended earbud. I’m not gonna lie, I was very confused at how to put these in it first, but thankfully the Bose Music app had a neat little video to show you how to use them. Pairing and setting them up was pretty easy and I had no connectivity issues each time I use them. Something I really like about the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds is the fact that you can still hear everything around you while enjoying your music. It’s almost like walking around with your own soundtrack to your life going on. The Bose music app can help you set up some customized features to make them sound good to your ears. The sound is surprisingly rich and full when you’re in a more controlled setting. If you are out and about in loud areas, you won’t hear the music as well obviously because they are open ended earbuds. The Bose Ultra Open Earbuds we’re surprisingly comfortable once I got a proper fit and honestly forgot they were there. I tested them out at work using my hair to cover them and I could still hear everything around me perfectly and safely. I can’t speak to how long they will last but I’ve used them for 3 to 4 hours straight and still had 70% battery left. This being my first pair of open ended earbuds. I was quite surprised at how great they sounded, and I’m really glad to have them in my repertoire of headphones and earbuds. I have honestly really been enjoying using the Bose Ultra Open earbuds.

First off I want to say as someone with bad ear fatigue and swollen ears from any earbuds that go in-ear this is legit the best thing to ever happen to me!! Now let me tell you why. First off sound quality, the sound quality is phenomenal but its not just ordinary sound. The sound is so hard to explain its like a movie theater is constantly following you around everywhere you go. Because its open and not inside your ear I feel like the sound is more natural and feels like you can touch the sound rather it being locked up in your head. I could go on all day long about the sound but lets talk about the comfort. As someone who can only use headphones because earbuds are so uncomfortable these really change the game. If you put these on right it fits perfectly and does not fall out. Ive worn these today for a total of 8 hours and a lot of the times I totally forgot they were even in. I tested them walking around the store doing some chores and even laying around and it didnt cause any problems. They are very lightweight so you dont have to worry about it weighing your ears down or falling down. Some more perks that are very nice to have are all the modes they offer I wont list them but the bose app offers different sound settings to choose from to enhance your experience. For the mic/phonecalls I don’t really know but I also don’t care. I give these a 5 star because of sound and comfort. I truly can’t explain how balanced and comfortable these earbuds are. Buy them and you will see :)

I have been looking for something like this for the last five years. I am a mechanic and I needed a headphone that didn’t plug my ears so I could still stay safe and hear what is going on around me. I also spend a lot of my time in the engine compartment of speed boats most of which I am dangling upside down. My head light and my safety glasses will fall right off my head in this position but these Bose headphones stay right where I want them no matter what I do. They don’t plug my ears so I’m still fully able to hear what is going on around me and they are so light I can forget I’m even wearing them. Other heavier headphones would give me headaches if worn too long but I can wear these all day without even noticing. I was originally nervous that either people could hear everything I was listening to or the sound quality would be bad because it wasn’t in my ear canal but these were of no issue as the sound quality is amazing and unless the volume is at the top range people around me reported that they couldn’t hear or didn’t notice any sound coming from my cuffs. I’ve placed one phone call with these headphones and I could hear the other person perfectly but they did report that I sounded weird in their end but hey I didn’t expect it to be the best at everything nor did I buy it for phone calls

Excellent. Title: The Perfect Fit: A Review of My Ultra-Comfortable Earbuds I recently stumbled upon the most comfortable pair of earbuds I've ever had the pleasure of owning, and I can't help but sing their praises. From the moment I slipped them in, it felt like a match made in heaven. First and foremost, these earbuds are unbelievably light. So much so, that I often forget I'm even wearing them. It's become a habit to check if they're still nestled in my ears, only to be pleasantly surprised every time by their barely-there presence. I've affectionately dubbed them my "ear cuff" because they effortlessly complement all my outfits, whether I'm dressed up for a formal occasion or keeping it casual. One of the most remarkable features of these earbuds is their ability to banish fatigue. Gone are the days of sore ears after hours of use. These gems provide such a comfortable fit that I can wear them for extended periods without the slightest discomfort. But comfort isn't the only thing these earbuds excel at. Their secure fit means I can confidently jog and even run without fear of them slipping out. It's like they were custom-made for my ears, staying put no matter how much I move. Overall, I have to give these earbuds a solid five out of five score. They've exceeded all my expectations and have been worth every penny. If you're in the market for earbuds that prioritize comfort without sacrificing performance, look no further. These are the ones you've been searching for.
