Customers are saying

Customers admire the Pi8 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Earbuds for their fantastic sound quality, extended battery life, comfortable fit, and deep bass. Some find the connectivity to be a real downside and the touch controls to be inconsistent. While the active noise cancellation and design are appreciated, the price is a concern for some. Overall, the positive aspects of these earbuds seem to outweigh the negatives for many users.

The setup was a pain to due getting stuck in a loop. I was able to connect successfully, but I accidently clicked on "add more" and now I can't get out of it. Trying to cancel only brings me back to the beginning of the pairing process. The only way to get out of the endless loop was to actually re-pair the buds even though they were already paired. It probably been easier to pair without the app. Once the pairing was done, I started listening to music via Spotify. The sound quality was just ok, but making eq adjustments in the app made a world of difference. Now, I am enjoying the music and I am playing with the noise cancelling and voice assistant controls which works well, but I am unable to adjust the volume. After looking at the app I realize I have to customize the controls to control the volume via touch controls. So I can either control the volume OR the noise cancelling\voice assistant but not BOTH at the same time. This is a huge negative to me. I planned on using these earbuds for my gym workouts, so now I guess which configuration works better for me. I'm disappointed, but I can work around it. I do like the case and how easily the earbuds fit with the magnet. The case and earbuds are very good quality and I would recommend to a friend. I am only giving this four stars because the app could use some work. Was the app ever tested? Two words - QA Department.

The price is a bit steep but are totally worth it! Great battery compared to the previous models, you can connect to the tv on the airplane on flights so you dont have to carry a wired headset! The sound is incredible, i have samsung buds 3, airpod pro 2 usb c, sony xm5, b&o ex,google pixel buds 3 and these are 1 of my favorites! The deep bass and its loud I have the jade ones and enjoy them!

I picked up the pi6 headphones because of the quality of sound of the old pi5's that I have. The pi5's were not one of my favorites due to bulkness and not a great fit in my ear. My son uses them more than I do. I wanted to see if they had improved these, and I believe they listened. First, my big pet peeve of the pi5, they did not allow for volume control on the earbuds. These do. They allow you to toggle the long hold to either volume or your assistant of choice. I don't use voice assistants, so no loss for me. Now for the redesign, the fit is 100 times better. These settle in my ear, are lighter and the touch controls work better. The case is a bit slimmer as the earbuds are smaller, but the case lost the wireless charge function. Only the pi8 has that now. This uses yet another app instead of the old bowers & wilkins app the pi 5 uses. The noise cancellation is excellent, and this does have a two band equalizer I can play with. Really, I end up using the default 0 setting on most things. The sound on these is just better mixed/balanced. Clear with good low end and vocal/trebel separation. The algorithm they uses here is the one that was used in the pi7, now in the lower model pi6, and the pi8 has a tweak on this firmware. The calls are clear, and easy to answer. Unlike the old brethren, these are going to work their way into the headphone rotation for me. Again this is a premium price, and the sound is there, along with good function. Are there likely going to be less expensive alternatives that are available that sound as good, yes. But the current price here is the range where equivalent premium brands are. However I cannot fault these in a way that I can give this less than 5 stars. I would only take ½ star if I did anything for not having wireless charging like the pi5,7, and 9’s, but I’ll round up. I do recommend these.

Normally when I buy earbuds I spend a couple hundred and just buy whatever matches my cellphone brand. I do lots of walking and outdoor activities so things like sound quality and ANC are very important. Now I have never even considered spending more thinking earbuds are earbuds but Flossy Carter said on YouTube these are the best. I wasn’t even sure how to do this review as I wanted to be honest and I fully expected to say they were overpriced and average like any others. Wow was I wrong. The sound quality, volume level and fullness is so far ahead it’s hard to describe because it’s so superior. It’s literally an experience searching through music to hear different bass notes and highs. The equalizer is also great for fine tuning the sound to your liking. I wore these now for almost the entire day a couple times and never did they get uncomfortable. The fit for me anyway is great and they hold well. The little extra lip makes all the difference. ANC worked as good as others and calls sounded great. If I had one complaint the tap feature needs a bit of an adjustment. Many times I wanted to skip to the next track and it would pause instead even when I was focused and trying to get it right. Hopefully they can adjust that slightly with a software update. Wireless charging would have been nice also but again it’s all about the sound. The are expensive high end earbuds and they do lack some of the extra features of others but thes make up for it times ten in sound and that’s the main goal anyway. They are well worth the price of admission.

The Pi6 True Wireless earbuds are my second product from Bowers & Wilkins, the first being their Px7 S2 over ear headphones and I’m torn. The buds connected to my phone without incident and immediately appeared in the app which was already installed from my previous headphones. Starting with the positive, the Bowers & Wilkins Pi6 earbuds sound amazing. Rich deep bass, crisp highs and solid midtones. The volume is the loudest I’ve seen in earbuds. The app does give you the option to adjust the sound with its equalizer but it only adjusts bass and treble. I like heavier bass and sliding it up a couple of notches was perfect for me. Noise cancellation is very strong and drowns out everything during my subway commute. Passthrough is decent enough to have a conversation when the volume is low but gets drowned out easily at higher volume levels. During phone conversations I was heard well with no background noise or sounding like I was in a tunnel. There is no side tone though so I found myself speaking a bit louder than normal conversation. Battery life is rated at 8 hours for the buds and an additional two charges in the case for up to 24 hours of playback time. Full charges take about 2 hours and there is a 15 minute quick charge that will get you a couple of hours of run time. I was disappointed that the app never showed the buds to have more than 93% charge, even after charging the case and buds. There is no option in the app to see the charge of the case, just the buds. Another disappointment is the lack of wireless charging. The buds come with four sizes of silicone tips but I struggled with finding a size that felt like it fit my ears correctly. Because of the design, the buds fit deep into your ear canal which is the only support keeping them in place. They never fell out but numerous times felt like I could hear around the seal. There is no fit test option in the app to verify a good seal. Once I found the best size tip the buds were pretty comfortable even after several hours of listening. The app does give you a couple of options but is pretty minimal in the settings. The buds chime to indicate changes in ANC and bluetooth pairing. I would have preferred voice prompts at this price point. The main page of the app is dedicated to various streaming services that offer higher quality streaming like Tidal and Deezer with the concept of being your one stop shop for enjoying your music. I did notice on several occasions that the app seemed to be disconnected from the buds even though they were still connected to the phone. The buds do offer touch control but unlike most of the previous earbuds I’ve tried, you have to choose between ANC/Voice Assistant or volume control. They also offer playback and call control. I struggle recommending the Pi6 earbuds. The sound is excellent but at this price point, they are playing in the premium space but lack many of the more premium features like multi-band equalizer, wireless charging, touch control options and lack of voice feedback prompts. If you are looking for great sounding earbuds, the Pi6 is worth considering but from a value perspective, I feel there are better options available. I give the Bowers & Wilkins Pi6 three stars and unfortunately, would not recommend them to most people.

Bowers & Wilkins - Pi6 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Earbuds These ear buds come really nicely package and the case for them has a lovely soft feel plus it is magnetic so holds the cover closed very well. There are several choices for the ear bud pads but the ones that came with them fit my ears well. There is a USB C cable for charging. I am not a fan of earbuds since I can never get them to fit properly & I fear that they will fall out but with these earbuds, it was like they were custom fit for my ears. They feel secure and I really like them. I also typically struggle with connecting via Bluetooth but I got these connected immediately. And then the sound, oh my gosh it is just outstanding. There is a deep, rich sound that is just great. These earbuds came already charged so I could use them immediately. I hadn’t even read the instructions yet and I was immediately enjoying the rich sound of music that comes from these earbuds. They are simply delightful. The battery life is rated for 8 hours.

    Small Size, HUGE Sound

The B&W Pi8 are easily some of the best sounding earbuds I have ever experienced. When it comes to earbuds at this point, the main deciding factors have become styling, comfort and sound quality. Two of those are mostly subjective and really depend on the user. For that reason, I will comment on some of those aspects, but will focus mostly on the sound quality from the earbuds as that’s what you should really be concerned about with $399.00 earbuds. As far as styling goes B&W tends to be more willing to make striking design choices with their products. In my opinion they make some of the most luxurious and imaginative designs. With the Pi8 they kind of took more of a conservative approach compared to their over the ear offerings. This might have been a design strategy or because its hard to imprint a bold design on a small product such as earbuds. The important thing is they look and feel premium. The materials don’t feel cheap, and the earbuds should last through the rigors of being your everyday buds. This includes the case which once again is very conservative in design but feels well made. Comfort is a category that will depend on you and how earbuds generally feel in your ear. Theres nothing inherently unique to these earbuds that would make them more or less comfortable to use than other premium in earbuds. However, one cool function is that the usual kind of “wing” found on buds is more of a wedge with these being built into the buds. That gives them a clean look and keeps them secured in my ears. The one button UI function is simple to use and is similar to other earbuds/headphones. The case offers wireless charging which is fantastic and makes like a little easier. Now, the important stuff, sound quality. Its incredible. It feels like every once and a while we get new earbuds that sound 10-15% better than the previous “best” sounding earbuds. That’s an incredible achievement when you consider the size and form factor of earbuds. The name of the game with the Pi8 is codec support. It supports every good codec under the sun and then some. If you can use something like Tidal for music, you will take advantage of the full technological capabilities of these earbuds. The lossless sound is incredibly clear and superbly balanced. The lows, mids, and highs are all exactly where they should be for most songs I’ve listened to. This isn’t just great tuning, its also due to the incredible hardware packed into the Pi8. B&W used larger carbon fiber cone drivers which help translate what the audio engineers envisioned with this sound tuning. Sometimes you get a product like this where the hardware and the software matched each others potential and it shows. More companies need to understand this in the planning stages of product design. So many times software is way ahead of the hardware or vice versa and it becomes evident. In conclusion, the B&W Pi8 earbuds stand out as a remarkable blend of premium design, comfort, and exceptional sound quality. While styling and comfort may vary based on personal preferences, the Pi8’s sound performance is undeniably top-tier. With robust codec support and advanced hardware like larger carbon fiber cone drivers, these earbuds deliver a balanced and clear audio experience that truly sets them apart. For those seeking high-quality sound in a sleek, well-crafted package, the Pi8 is a worthy investment.

The Pi6 is a stylish, high performing set of earbuds that unfortunately also caused me a fair bit of frustration. The first three days I had them, I was somewhat less than impressed. The large earbud bodies are a bit oddly weighted compared to what I'm used to, causing the right one to fall out a few times when I went walking around the neighborhood. The audio was frequently crackly and prone to dropping out every few minutes. And the touch controls seemed prone to triggering at the drop of a hat. I came close to giving up, but decided to persevere. Eventually I got used to the way they sit in my ears, re-paired them with my phone a few times, and redownloaded the B&W app and discovered that when they're working right, there's quite a lot to like. The earbuds offer clear and crisp sound (though admittedly slightly lacking in bass response compared to some.) They do an excellent job blocking out ambient noise. Audio quality on calls is excellent, as is environmental passthrough. and once you get used to how sensitive it is, the touch controls on the sides are very pleasantly responsive. I would still hesitate to recommend them to everyone. I still wouldn't trust them to stay in my ears while jogging, for instance, and I'm not entirely sure what to make of the initial connectivity problems I had. These are definitely more for the audiophile or fashionista looking for something small and portable to wear during a morning train ride or slip into a carry on bag for the plane. But they do certainly sound good.

I have always been a fan of Bowers and Wilkins ever since my Dad bought a pair of DM17 Speaker way back when. Of course, they have changed a lot from the heavy wood cabinets and speakers only. The Pi8 was an immediate draw to me because of this and the brand. The earbuds are a bit unusual in shape and quite thick. They come with the usual charging case and 3 sets of assorted sized rubber tips. They were a breeze to pair and set up- very straight forward. There is an app that allows customizing of the sound. I had to find the right rubber tip as they kept falling out of my ear. I think it was the shape and weight that wasn't a good fit for my ear. However, after trial and error, I got a decent fit that stayed in. The trick is to insert them then turn them sideways. They look quite stylish with the B&W name printed out the outside portion of the earbud. The sound was clear and not overly saturated with base or too much treble. If anything, this was more midrange which is great for me and excellent with vocals. Volume was decent and I liked the sound range. They are noise cancelling which I do not like too much. I prefer some background sounds.

The Bowers & Wilkins Pi6 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Earbuds are a nice set of headphones. The case and earbuds come in a Cloud Grey color. The earbuds come well packaged and everything is laid out and easy to understand. Included inside the box is a USB-C cable and Quick Start guide instructions. The quick guide instructions has a QR code that you will scan with your device, which will allow you to download the Music Bowers & Wilkins app. The app allows you to easily pair the earbuds to your device during initial setup. Using the app to setup by earbuds was flawless. I did not run into any issues as I created an account and setup my earbuds. The app allows me to adjust the EQ settings and update the software if there’s a software update available. The EQ settings are somewhat limited. I was presented with only two sliders. One for Bass and the other for Treble. The earbuds feature Noise Cancelling Technology which works well. The earbud controls are pretty standard, such as tap to pause/play, double tap to forward to next track, and triple track to play previous track. The earbuds allow you to adjust the playback volume by pressing and holding the left earbud to decrease the volume and pressing and holding the right earbud to increase the volume. The case is solid and the earbuds fit into the case magnetically without any issues. My ears tend to get a bit fatigued if I wear them for too long. I would assume this may vary from user to user. Overall, I like the sound quality these earbuds provide.

So, just for reference, I am mostly an over the ear headphone type of guy. I have, however, some Marshall and Jabra in the ear earbuds that I really enjoy. My biggest issue with earbuds is that over prolonged periods of time, no matter what size of bud I (or my wife) use, they just become uncomfortable. The B&W come with 4 different sized bud adapters, and I tried three of them. I have smaller ear canals and I found the medium to be just right. I did have to squish them in a little. These Pi8 are fantastic. What I mean by that is that I have some of the cleanest sound I have heard from a set of headphones/earbuds. Now, I like my metal and I like a little bass and I have to say that these are almost there. Sound is rich, clean but a little lacking on the bass, even after playing with all the settings in the app. But it doesn't keep me from wanting to listen to them. Set up was painless, just an extra pairing request than normal but everything went quick, music is recognized from all your favorite sources. Even though these are "made for Iphone", I used my Samsung with no issues and everything from stored music to streaming platforms came across wonderfully. These are my new favorite earbuds, even though I prefer OTE cans. The NC was not noticeable but did an excellent job keeping almost everything quiet. Pass through worked well, controls are easy to use and these buds just work. The only down side, the battery life. They state only 6.5 hours of use with NC, with the app, etc. So far, couple hours, no issue, buuuuut, who really needs to use earbuds for more than a couple hours anyway?!?!?

Bowers & Wilkins has always been a favorite audio brand for me. I have had the pleasure of owning many products from them, from speakers to headphones. They always met the standard I held them to. These ear buds by them, however, fall a bit short in my opinion. They have lots of feature, which all work but they lack in a couple areas. Now, like I stated earlier, I hold a company such as Bowers & Wilkins to a higher standard as that is what they have always delivered. The biggest features of these ear buds would be the noise cancelling, the ability to be used with the app, the fast charging and the sound quality itself. The fast charging works well and truly is pretty quick. The app, used on my phone, works well and paired quickly and easily. I enjoy the ability to stream directly from the app and do my adjustments and such on it as well. This is definitely a cool feature. Now, the sound quality and noise cancelling, to me, fall short. I feel, while the sound is good, it is not up to par with the standard I hold Bowers & Wilkins to. The same goes for the noise cancelling. While it does work, it doesn't drown out the outside noise as well as I feel it should. These earbuds compare to many others on the market at the same price point. I feel there are even better sounding ones, from other brands, that aren't as well known in the audio world like B&W is. Overall, these are good ear buds for the average user but for someone looking for normal B&W sound quality, I don't feel these are it.

    Duos don’t work properly

Chronic Problems with the duos: 1). Sudden stop while playing. 2) skipping to the next song without being prompted to do so. 3). ‘Cannot connect to airplay’ The B&W application often cannot see the duos. Or it may take more than 5 minutes to see the duos. Sometimes I’d just give up and walk away. 4). Airplay appears to be connected but no sound comes out as if a blank tape is being played. The same downloaded material played fine previously. I’ve used restart, factory reset, unplugging electrical cords, pressing the button located in front of the duos,....And I’m tired of doing so. My duos have been a huge disappointment. Either I have bought a Lemmon or the duos are not ready for the market, yet. More research and testing need to be done! I would not recommend the formation duos.

Unusable! I regret I didn't read the reviews here before I ordered. I tried the formation duo speakers on 4 different WIFI networks and it never worked stable. The first one was the best, the second worked not at all, on all others the system is totally unstable. My 5G signal from my current router can't even be detected! A so called B&W service expert came and tried for 3 hours, nothing better. The Audio box he could never set up to stream even a single bit of music to the speakers. The next trial is to use another router. If this also doesn't work I'll ask them to take everything back. The App is incredible poor, how can anyone be satisfied with this crap? Theoretically the sound is good, practically the products are unusable.

Some of the most ear piercing headphones ive heard

Im gonna keep this short and sweet. My main headphones I use at my desktop are Hifiman HE1000SE’s with a Benchmark HPA4 amp and Chord Qutest DAC. I wanted a high quality pair of earbuds for travel since Im used to high quality sound at home. Let me just say how sad I was when I got these Bowers after glowing reviews. These have some of the peakiest treble ive heard from a pair of headphones and ive heard a lot. I tried all the different tips and none made a difference. I couldnt even play a single metal or edm song without the piercing treble taking over. 100% returning and sticking with my Airpods Pro. I should have known better based on Bowers speakers but these really take it to another level of piercing treble quality. Also it cant be EQ’d without destroying the rest of the sound signature.
