Customers are saying

Customers admire the Pi8 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Earbuds for their fantastic sound quality, extended battery life, comfortable fit, and deep bass. Some find the connectivity to be a real downside and the touch controls to be inconsistent. While the active noise cancellation and design are appreciated, the price is a concern for some. Overall, the positive aspects of these earbuds seem to outweigh the negatives for many users.

    Great Sound

These are in ear monitors, meaning the tip needs to be inside your ear canal. The fit is important for good sound. They are like wearing ear plugs. And are nothing like Apple's air pods and most of the other earphones for sale now that just sit in your ear. There are several sets of different sized tips for different ears. Bowers & Wilkins missed by not including a set of Comply foam tips. I happen to really love in ear monitors, they stay put a lot better, they physically reduce noise, and I can wear them for a long time. These fit nicely. Sound These are sumptuous, buttery smooth, clear, beautiful headphones. Call quality is remarkable, as if you are talking directly into the phone. Noise cancellation is acceptable, not perfect but quite good. Sound quality improves dramatically when noise cancellation is turned off (that's pretty common). Build Quality Absolutely stunning devices. The case is a pleasure to hold. The earphones latch seamlessly. The cover closes with a satisfying click. The earphones feel solid, like they will last a long time. I dislike the noise they make whenever touched or tapped to perform tasks - the generated sound is weird, and the hollow mechanical noise is annoying. Tech Support You never hope to need tech support, but Bowers & Wilkins delivered superbly. Support is not outsourced, so communication and understanding is easy. They stick with an issue until it is resolved, as in multiple call backs (all done exactly as promised) and hours spent troubleshooting. One channel would randomly cut out whenever I was moving around and bending over (I happened to be belt sanding my deck while wearing these). After many many attempts to fix the issue, and escalating to higher levels, we finally reached the impasse - ship it back and they will repair it. Oddly, shortly after that decision, a firmware update solved the problem, no need to ship them back. This is really great technical support. Issues I Don't Like The case has to be plugged into a USB C port to charge. It does not wirelessly charge. I really want the Comply foam inserts, the earphones would fit far better. The tapping noise is annoying. While wearing these, they decided to randomly try to do FaceTime calls with my contacts. I can't figure out why or how it did this, but it was super annoying. The whole tap to do things is super complicated and not even remotely intuitive. I still can't figure out how to raise or lower the volume tapping the devices. And the printed instructions are impossible to understand, they are icons with no words. The app is required to make setting changes; noise cancelling, tone, tap sequences, etc. Overall, these are solid in ear monitors. You have to love having something in your ear canal. The sound is remarkable.

    Great sound but slippery

I was excited to get these Bowers and Wilkins earbuds as I have had a couple of over-the-ear headsets in the past that I really enjoyed due to the superior build and sound. With these Pi6 True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear, I was expecting the same. Sadly, this was not the case. I received these about a week ago and spent the past week listening to them both as my daily work earbuds for zoom meetings as well as phone calls, music and audiobooks. Again my expectations were really high but was frustrated with them. The Good: These are really nice looking earbuds. The shape contours with my ears well. I feel that they are solidly built. The top surface is really responsive to my finger touch for the various controls. When listening to the various calls on zoom/phone, the people's voices comes out nice and clear and crisp. The microphones on these also pick up my voice well and the clarity is amazing. When listening to music and audiobooks, the sound is just very impressive. Sounds and music is very precise, and the noise cancelling is just amazing. It is able to lower the surrounding noise well that also adjusts to the environment around me. With other competitors anc, these don't give me that suctioning feeling and I can still hear what is around me but very muted. The case is also nicely built and charges quickly. In just a 15 minute charge, I am able to get about an hour's worth of battery life. On a full charge, these buds last about 8 hours of use (the most I've gone listening was on a long 1.5 hour drive with lot of batter life left). The Bad: They are not the most easy to connect earbuds. As I mentioned earlier, I already had a pair of over the ear headsets so I have the app already. When you initially set this up, there is no button on the case. It is very bare of anything except the one indicator light. I was struggling trying to connect this with my bluetooth. It took a few times of closing my app and opening again before it was able to pick it up and connect. This was a frustrating process which I felt it could've been lessened had there already been a power button. Also, these are ergonomically designed which I value tremendously. They contour my ear shape well. The problem is the material they use on these, they are very slippery in my ear. There are different silicone ear piece sizes but the standard medium-sized ones that are already installed are the best fit. There are no wingtips on these so with some sudden movement, they feel like they are being dislodged. I did several motions that required my head to have some movement: running, pushups, sit-ups, looking left and right. With these movements, they feel like they are about to fall out. So this was very disappointing as I would have liked maybe a stem design or probably wingtips. Overall, these are very good in-ear earbuds with noise cancelling. They are of solid build with amazing sound quality. I was just a little disappointed with the fit and connectivity of them. Once they were connected I feel that these are good for my office calls or when driving, but for me, not when I am exercising or doing strenuous activities.

Bowers and Wilkins Pi8: High End Wireless!

For music lovers and audiophiles, sound quality is often at the forefront of our purchasing decisions; in most instances, budgets will be a bit higher than what most would want to spend. Nevertheless, audio quality, specifically lossless quality support, should be an absolute priority regardless of the device. However, we must recognize that quality will undoubtedly mean something different from person to person. For me personally, over the last decade I have dedicated myself to the joys of extensively collecting physical music and analyzing the technical intricacies of lossless audio; quality for me is controlling the listening experience at every possible variable from the source file, the main device, and the end speaker. Naturally, for some this may sound like quite an undertaking, but life would be incomplete without hearing music as it was intended. Thus, I was extremely excited to test the latest high end wireless headphones from Bowers and Wilkins: the reference Pi8! For most people, the Pi8 setup should be very familiar as it is essentially the same with every other wireless earbuds. As typical of every manufacturer, the first step would be to download their specific application; unfortunately an account is required to use the application, a seemingly recent trend that I am not fond of at all. On the one hand, the good news is that at least they will still work and pair without the application. However, once you get your device paired with the Pi8’s, and you are signed in, you will then be able to access the various settings such as the tap behavior, noise cancelling, and the 5 band EQ setting (there are no sound presets). In addition, you can also see the battery levels of the case and the earbuds. For accessories, the Pi8 comes with a USB Type C charging cable and also a USB Type C to 3.5mm cable so you can connect another device via the 3.5mm to the charging case and transmit audio wirelessly to the earbuds. In addition, the other USB Type C cable will also let you transmit audio to the charging case for wireless transmission. On my Xperia 5 III, both the 3.5mm and USB connection worked flawlessly, but obviously Bluetooth should be disabled first. I was quite pleased with this feature as you don’t usually see that on wireless earbuds. Lastly, the Pi8s come with a set of ear tips; medium sized ones are pre-installed. I would also like to recommend you take a look at the full manual found on the website, as it goes into more detail with respect to the color LED statuses found on the charging case as well as paring information. Before I discuss the sound quality, I first would like to mention the noise cancelling as I was honestly surprised at the implementation. With noisy environments, the Pi8s did a fabulous job in sealing in the sound. In my living room with the TV volume set 25, I could not hear anything coming from the TV. With my music paused, I was quite surprised at how good of a seal these provided; perhaps even more surprising was that even with the noise cancelling off, outside noise was still relatively muffled! Even walking outside at a shopping center next to a busy intersection, with noise cancelling on, I could barely hear the traffic. Simply put, I was quite impressed with the Pi8s and its sound insulation. Furthermore, they are quite comfortable; long listening sessions never caused any discomfort. As for call quality, I was also quite impressed with the sound. Voices were nice and clear and there was a noticeable difference from the cheaper earbuds that these replaced. Most should be please with regards to the noise cancelling perspective. As with sound quality, I first want to mention a couple of preliminary points before I discuss my observations; most importantly the Bluetooth protocols. As most are probably aware, the Pi8s support the newest APTX lossless protocol (or Snapdragon Sound with APX Lossless). Unfortunately, depending on your device, the implementation of codecs may or may not be supported. Initially, I was under the impression that my Sony Xperia 5 III would be new enough to support the latest codec, but unfortunately it wasn’t added until the next generation (aside from the fact that my phone on Qualcomm’s website is listed as Snapdragon Sound compatible but not lossless). Upon opening the developer options, my only choices was SBC, AAC, APTX (presumably APTX Classic as listed on the Pi8 spec sheet), and APTX adaptive audio. Now keep in mind that APTX adaptive audio is listed as 276 kbps to 420 kbps and it will shift depending on the connection environment so unfortunately this is limiting the Pi8’s in that regard. It is also a shame that the Pi8’s do not support LDAC as that would have at least allowed an increase in the transfer rate up to 990kbps on my device, though the bit rate on some of my FLAC files do exceed over 1,000 Kbps. Undoubtedly, this naturally raises the question can you fully have lossless quality over Bluetooth? Personally, with such a question I have always tried to argue that it is best to assume the worst and say no. Given the nature of wireless transmission (packet loss), even if the smallest fraction of a byte is lost during its transfer at any point regardless if its audible or not, the end result cannot be called not lossless. As such, perception is not the same thing as reality. In that regard, it is why I have always preferred wired connections with any audio device, stereo, or home theater system. However, I certainly do not want to diminish the Pi8’s and their fairly high quality sound; it is merely difficult to minimize the technical context that accompanies such products and audio in general. As noted earlier, my lossless collection has blossomed over that past decade; currently, my library consists of 3,573 songs with my FLAC backup at around 265 GB across over 13 genres. As such, the majority of my songs are 44.1 KHz/16 Bit sourced from my physical CDs. All songs were ripped by EAC 1.3 using the secure rip feature and are encoded to FLAC 1.30. I have also personally scanned each file and analyzed every single song using a spectrogram (Spek 0.8.5) to make sure it is of proper quality (just because it’s on CD doesn’t guarantee someone knew what they were doing; music sourced from lossy sources have made it on to official CDs which will also make it on to streaming platforms and digital stores. I do not stream for this reason nor do I own the music). All songs were played from my Sony Xperia 5 III over APTX adaptive audio. As for sound quality, the quality of the Pi8’s is quite exceptional given their size. It is a clear upgrade over my old Bose Soundsport headphones. Starting with my metal and rock genres, I was quite surprised here as I noticed instrument separation was quite good. A couple of standout tracks worth noting was on Crypta's "Stronghold" starting at 5:16 the guitar solo has some really good separation from the low end. On "Lullaby For The Forsaken" the bass at 0:50 is extremely clear. On Trivium's "Torn Between Scylla And Charybdis" the bass line intro comes in perfectly. Shockingly, you can hear the whole thing; for comparison, most laptops I own can barely replicate this part. Next on Epica's "Victims Of Contingency" from 0:45-1:20 the drastic vocal changes were handled quite well; towards the end of the song, I heard more choir and background vocals than on my other earbuds. Lastly I was quite pleased with Elysion's "What Lies Beneath" and "Break Free" as vocals were nice and centered. Next, I wanted to test a few other genres, specifically with a focus on more instrumental tracks. On Fat Jon's "Risk It All" there is a bass line that starts at 0:43 that runs on top of smaller bass notches; the Pi8 held its own here and completely produced the line throughout. On "Your Purpose" at 0:39, the middle tapping sound is centered perfectly over the bass line along with the ambient string like sound that plays throughout. Lastly, on "How You Feel" is an absolute joy to listen to; the tapping and bass line are just perfect. Next, I moved on to Septicflesh's "Dogma Of Prometheus (Orchestra Version)" one in which has a good balance of choir and orchestra. At 2:10, the brass sections really come alive; at 4:09 there is a nice clap with choir vocals over it. The Pi8 is quite the performer. Next, I moved on to Si-Sé's "Mariposa En Havana" in which the crisp middle frequency percussion taps and viola at 0:20 are quite delightful with distinct separation. As for the low end, there is a slight occasional rumble but nothing too crazy. On "Slip Away" there is a nice bass line that picks up at around 2:00 mark, and the song finishes with a nice piano arrangement at the end; when it merges with the low end, the Pi8 really shines here. Lastly on "Steppin' Out" the intro bass line is quite low; to even produce a fraction of this rumble is quite extraordinary. At around 1:04, the higher chime like notes are crystal clear. Lastly, on Nujabes "The Space Between Two World" is just pure gold. Every section of the song from lows to middles are rendered perfectly clear. Overall, the Pi8's is perfectly natural across all genres and most should be completely satisfied. In conclusion, the Pi8s are perhaps the best wireless headphones I have personally used; even more impressive was given their relatively small size and weight, they were still able to replicate parts of my music that I wasn't expecting. In addition, the noise cancelling is spectacular and I was able to drown out most of all the external noise during my testing. Furthermore, they are extremely comfortable. Aside from the codec situation, the Pi8s are still worth a strong look as they do sound that good; understand that the lossless claim should be taken with a grain of salt and that your device will also determine if you can use the proper codec. Despite this, if the budget allows, the Pi8's still come highly recommended.

The Bowers & Wilkins earbuds are a fantastic product and I love them! For the short time that I’ve owned them, they have quickly become my go-to earbuds. I have used these buds for extended listening hours and their comfort level is fantastic. They fit well and don't cause ear-fatigue. I usually use them while cycling or walking during my exercise routines and they feel great. One awesome feature which I love is the active noise cancellation. They are really effective in canceling out extraneous noises during my listening sessions. The call quality during my conversations is clear, concise and crisp . The earbuds have clean highs, really nice bass and nice mid ranges. My music comes alive and my listening pleasure is amazing. Battery life is solid, providing 8 hours of earbud life and if stored in its charging case affords a total of 24 hours of playback on a single charge. The fast charging feature is definitely something I particularly enjoy and having 24 hours of playback time ensures you have enough juice to last through the entire day. A quick 15 minute charge gives you 2 hours of listening pleasure. Noteworthy is this product is backed by a full 2 year parts and labor warranty. In this day and age, it’s wonderful to see a manufacturer that warrants their product for more than a year! Overall, I love these earbuds! In my opinion , they are top-of-line and posses superior listening qualities which are hard to beat. Love them, buy them and enjoy pure listening pleasure

      Hello Sebas,

We are sorry to hear about your experience with the Pi8. The Pi8 offer 6.5 hours of earbud life with additional battery via the charging case. If this is not the case, we would recommend that you contact our support team directly for assistance in this matter as 2 hours is very low for what our earbuds typically hold in charge. These are probably the best in ear headphones I've ever heard/owned and they are beautiful and classy looking. I am definitely keeping these. Let me explain why I gave it 3 stars. It has nothing to do with the sound, but more with the connectivity and app performance. When I first paired these to my iPhone, I was prompted to update the firmware. Make sure you leave the earbuds in the case with the lid open so that it maintains connectivity. The used the default ear tips. Now, I'm coming from an AirPod Pro 2, so these are a bit big in my ear and I thought it would take time to get used to. Well, they sit so comfortably in my ear and I did not notice any added weight. I have not tried running with these so I can't comment on how well they stay in my ear, but I did not feel like they were slipping out like I've experienced with other earbuds. I did have an issue with sound coming out even though it shows that it's paired on my iPhone and on the app. I had to remove it from both and re-pair it again. With the first song that played, I can hear how clear and warm these are right out of the box. It has a 5 band EQ slider that I was able to play around with to get the sound I wanted. Over the 3 weeks that I've owned them, I've had issues where when I take 1 earbud out, the music is still playing. There have been times where I don't hear anything out of them. I've also had issues where the it shows connected on my bluetooth screen, but when I go to the app, it's not connected. I've had to remove and pair them again on multiple occasions. And just this last week, there was an update available that seems to have made it worse than before. I hope B&W resolves this quick, because I love the sound out of these and would hate to have to return them Now as far as the sound goes, with the 5 band EQ, you can customize it to your liking. The soundstage on them are fantastic and everything is so clear. These are good for all types of music, but you will see how well these fair with acoustic or songs in the rock/grunge category. For me, I've listened to the same songs on multiple occasions, but with these, I started to notice other sounds in that song that I've never heard before.

After using the Bowers & Wilkins Pi6 True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds for a week, I can say that they are a solid choice for those looking for high-quality wireless audio earbuds. I’ve tried and had a few earbuds in the past 6 years. Every year there are small improvements in technology that make it worth buying a new set. First, the fit is noticeably more secure compared to others. Whether I'm at the gym or just walking around, I never had to worry about them falling out, which is a big plus for me. It’s a really good balance of sound and fit. In terms of audio quality, these earbuds are definitely on the better side. (I’ve tried many) The sound is rich and detailed, with good bass and clarity. Whether I’m listening to music or watching videos, the audio experience is solid. Noise-cancellation works quite well too, making it easier to block out distractions. After wearing them for 2 to 3 hours my ears don’t feel sore or tired. Bluetooth pairing was easy and simple. The earbuds connected seamlessly to my devices right out of the box, and I haven’t experienced any disconnections or dropouts while using the earbuds. I left my laptop up stairs and was able to walk around my house with some distortion but over all pretty solid distance. Battery life say on the box 8 hours. I haven’t “tested” to 8 hours but can confidently say its over 6 hours. Overall, the Bowers & Wilkins Pi6 is a high-quality, well-rounded set of earbuds, combining secure fit, and great audio quality

Initial Impressions: The Bowers & Wilkins Pi6 earbuds are great with music, good with phone, about average with noise cancelation, have terrible wireless range, and are the most comfortable B&W earbuds I have had the pleasure of using. The touch controls take a little getting used to but are fully functional and easy to learn. The B&W app is disappointingly basic for such a capable product. The battery life is excellent. And the charging case fits easily and comfortably into my pocket. Overall, I think these are excellent ear buds for the money. Music: Musically, these earbuds are excellent! It is what the Pi6’s does the best. Bass is clear, sharp, and not bloated. Mids and highs are detailed and balanced. I started with Indigo Girl’s “Closer to Fine”. I was listening for the strums on the guitars, the decay of the notes, and guitar separation. I could even pick out some knocking on the side of one of the guitars towards the end of the song. Each string, the decay of the chords, and the separation of each guitar was excellent, clear, present in the sound stage, and much better than what I hear from most ear buds. I moved onto Air Supplies, “Every Woman in the World” for their wonderful male vocals. And the Pi6’s delivered the goods. Male vocals were clear, crips, well balanced, and simply fun to listen to. I then moved onto Megan Trainer’s, “Made you Look” the acapella version and not that gross, watered down version she released a while back. What a vocal delight. The Pi6’s did an excellent with the male and female harmonies while also doing an excellent job of properly resolving each voice. For example, there are moments when the male voices join the female voices in harmony. They sound amazing together while at the same time resolved enough that you can still pick out each voice in the sound scape. And they sound wonderful. From here I moved onto the title piece on the original soundtrack for Pacific Rim. This is one of my new audio testing tracks. This piece has everything from screaming guitars, brass horns, drums, synthesizers, violines, and layers upon layers of musical themes all weaving in and out of each other. This is what a movie soundtrack should sound like! And it sounded every bit like the movie with the Pi6’s. This was not as big of a sound as what over ear headphones or a proper stereo or home theater system can replicate. But it’s still really good and engaging. “Drift” by Blake Periman featuring RZA is the closing credits song from the same movie. The female vocals are full of ghostly yearning and pain. The bass beat is so heavy that I could feel it in my head. Again, the Pi6’s can really deliver the bass. For fun, I threw on Boney M’s Rasputin. What a fun song this is. It starts out with an amazing drum solo. Then is joined by what I am guessing are Turkish guitars. Followed by male and female vocals. Then by chanting men followed by a rocking 70’s rock track. I have used this track for many headphones and earbuds. Fantastic! I finally wrapped up my musical audition with some classical music, heavy-fisted club music, and even some organ music. The Pi6’s supplied enough bass to both build a foundation and then support the rest of the music. And this was demonstrated beautifully with Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor, BWV 565. The Pi6’s handled everything wonderfully. Voice and phone calls: Phone calls were handled very well by the Pi6’s. Receiving voices were clear and without any audible artifacts. Transmission was a bit of a mixed bag. One caller described me as sounding far away. Other callers described me as sounding natural. Overall, I got more compliments than complaints. Noise Canceling: Noise canceling is also a mixed bag but seems on par with most earbuds I have owned. Steady, white noise kinds of sounds were handled the best. I work from home most days. My home office is just off the kitchen. One afternoon I had the dish washer running, a air purifier running at medium speed next to me, and my laptop’s fan blowing at full speed. The noise was slightly muted with just having the earbuds in with no noise canceling on. The noise was mostly muted with noise canceling turned on. And I heard nothing with the music on. The Pi6’s had a more difficult time in a less steady environment such as a school bus. The noise of people talking, bumps in the road, the general groaning of the bus it bounced down the road were only slightly muted with noise cancellation turned on. I noticed that the Pi6’s overcompensated with hard hitting sounds such as the bus hitting a pothole. I eventually turned off the noise cancellation because the effect was very uncomfortable. Pass through: The audio pass through is good. Everything around me sounds natural. However, my own voice does take on a slight, “fingers in my ears” quality that has the effect of making me speak slightly louder than I should. Otherwise, I find it quite good. I can hear everything going on in the house with the music and voice off. Some sounds, like fan noise, are a bit off and sometimes over exaggerated. But, for the most part, I can hear what I need to hear. The pass through will allow sounds to penetrate the ear while listening to music. The Pi6’s can play loud enough to drown out the pass through. There is no function in the B&W app to adjust the volume of the pass through. Final note. Noise cancellation increases the sound pressure in the ear. This is something that I can feel. Turning off Noise Cancellation takes me from pressure to plugged ears. Turning on the pass through strangely provides some relief to my ears from the other two settings. It is like I took my fingers out of my ears. Wireless Range. Wireless range is the perhaps the worst I have ever experienced with ear buds. I normally use the Pi8’s in my home office. My kitchen is the next room over. Not even 20 feet. I can risk disrupting my connection to my phone while refilling my water glass at the refrigerator. I will have disruptions if there is a wall between the Pi6’s and the phone. And I will lose connection if I move outside of 20 feet with an obstruction between us. I do not live in a big house. With clear line of site, I cannot stand at one end of my home with my phone on the other end without experiencing some audible connectivity issue. The solution to this issue is simple. Keep the phone on my person, or with me at my desk, while using the Pi6’s. However, grabbing my phone to take with me is not always top of mind or practical. Touch Controls: Touch controls are limited but work well. It takes no pressure to activate the touch control. Tap on either ear bud will start/pause music or answer/hang up a voice call. Tap and hold is programable between Noise Cancellation/digital assistant and volume controls. For some reason the Pi6 cannot handle both. Double trap will skip ahead on the play list and triple tap will drop back to the previous musical track. Comfort: I personally cannot wear earbuds, regardless of shape or comfort, for more than two hours. I get ear fatigue from most earbuds at the thirty-minute mark. I can wear the Pi6’s for the full two hours before I need to take a break. The Pi6’s also does an excellent job of staying in my ears. I wore these for housework, moving furniture, and doing yard work for two days without any slips. They didn’t even get loose in my ears, which I find amazing since they do not have little flanges or stabilizers to speak of. The little rubber tips are just the rights size to keep these in my ears. Chewing is one action that often pushes earbuds right out of my ears. They stayed in my ears and maintained a great seal. At no time did I need to re-adjust or tighten the Pi6’s to remain in my ears. I’m not sure what Voodoo magic B&W pulled off here but it’s working. Conclusion: I could probably go on another few pages about the Pi6’s but I don’t have the room. Bottom line: fantastic, full range audio at all volumes and with all genres, great fit, solid noise canceling though situation dependent, solid sound pass through, clear calls, poor wireless range, and anemic but serviceable app. For ear buds, these are a lot of fun to own.

As they say, you get what you pay for, and these headphones/earbuds is worth every penny. Set up is a snap. Load the app and it is all self guided. Both buds are touch responsive and they are exactly that. You can customize that as you see fit. Starting with phone connection, the sound is crystal clear. I have not had any distortion of sound and the noise cancellation only enhances. Simple to connect and disconnect from calls. These are also ideal to use when working out, cutting the grass, whatever. The sound is crisp and clear. The adaptive noise cancellation works I'd say a 9.5 out of 10. The ambient pass through is also a winner as you can listen to whatever it is you enjoy, yet you are still able to hear the world around you. My phone connects flawlessly to these and as soon as you put them in your ears, they are active and ready to go. The case has a newer design to it. The case can provide up to an additional 13.5 hours so they continue to charge once put back into the case. I also find I can get 5.5 to 6.5 hours of use when fully charged, which a solid feature. The case is very sleek and build solid. The buds are also not heavy of course but feel well put together and fit snugly in your ears. It comes with additional silicone tips that vary in size for a more custom fit and feel.

This is my entry into the products of Bowers & Wilkins and I've gotta say the Pi8 wireless buds are ridiculously good. I've had mutliple sets of buds and headphones from brands like Jabra, Beats, Jaybird, Samsung, and Sony, and this Pi8 set is on par if not better than most of the ones I've previously owned. For starters the sound quality on the Pi8 buds are amazing definitely a premium sound/listening expereince. I'd say its on par with a WF-1000XM5 set but its gonna blow away most of the other competition. The fit of these buds is great, I always had an issue with buds not fitting right in my ears or slipping off with even the slightest sweat. These however fit perfectly in my ear and dont easily fall out. Set up is easy and the UI app makes it easy to connect and link up some premium audio streaming apps or make adjustments to the EQ. The Noise Canceling on these buds is great. I wear my bufs at work alot and I use some noisy equipment, but when I'm wearing my buds and working I can't hear a thing but my music. The touch controls are easy learn and if you want to remap what the touch controls should be then the UI app will make it easy to do. The battery life is pretty standard for most Bluetooth buds, like 6+ hrs. Overall I'd recommend Bowers & Wilkins Pi8 buds.

I recently got these earbuds, and I can say that I am happy with my purchase. First of all the color is appealing and the item color matches exactly with the product description on the website. I like its cloud grey since I can match it easily with my phone case or watch band. Second, It is light weight and I really do not feel anything when it is in my ears. Third, the sound quality is acceptable. I have had so many earbuds from different brands then I cannot tell that this one was the best that I has ever had, however I cannot point any negative point about its sound quality as the voice is clear and easy to hear. I mostly like its noise cancelling feature which works well. Fourth, the touch control works well. So far, I have never had any issue with connecting or disconnecting my phone calls. Fifth, Battery life is acceptable. I have to recharge it every 10 hours, but it gets recharged quickly. Sixth, the earbuds are comfortable and easy to use. Their size is perfect as it fits well in my ears and never falls off. All in all I am happy with this product and I can recommend it to people based on experience with its durability, sound quality and battery life.

These noise-canceling ear buds are overall fantastic. The sound is amazing for true wireless earbuds-basically on par with my Bowers and Wilkins headphones. The Bowers and Wilkins app allows changes to settings so you can customize sounds and tap functions. They are a little larger than my last set of other brand earbuds, but the sound is better and worth the trade-off. Tapping the earbuds in various ways allows you to change songs, answer phone calls, and alter noise-canceling functions. Phone calls come through clearly, and the person on the other end can hear you just as well. The noise-canceling mode works really well for earbuds. I compare it to my last set when mowing and weed-eating my yard. It doesn't totally block out loud noises like that, but it does better than any other earbuds I've used. There are 4 sizes of ear pieces to choose from, and they are comfortable and stay in well. I'm not sure exactly how long a charge lasts, but I used them for over three hours straight without any issues. I would definitely recommend these earbuds.

Love the look of these. The case is oval and sleek. Also it charges wireless too. First things first, they fit perfectly. They actually feel like a suction cup when u take them out, thats how snug they feel. I did test them on my walk and they don’t move at all so these are good with working out. They do not stick out either, they are sleek and very comfortable. Sound - it’s very clear and it has good bass. The noise cancellation works as it should. There is an app and once you are setup, there is an equalizer to adjust your sound. These are pretty loud but these have a balance with clarity and bass. There are a lot of features, the one that is unique, it comes with a retransmission cable, basically u can listen to audio thru the charging case without bluetooth. So if you are on that treadmill and want to listen to what is on that tv in the gym?, just plug that retransmission cable in, and boom, u got audio. Battery life, for my experience, lasted 4 days before i had to charge them again. I average 2hrs a day using these.

    Disruptor in Wireless Loud Speakers

I've had my eye on these speakers for months and decided to pull the trigger on them when Best Buy ran a sale for 20% off. These are probably the best sounding speakers I've ever heard to date, especially when paired with a HiFi streaming service such as Tidal or Roon. Simply incredible. I've demoed the Bowers & Wilkins 700 series tower speakers in the magnolia room at Best Buy, and these blow them out of the water with three less speakers per side! They're also THE EASIEST set of speakers I've ever set up. Why waste your time running running, cutting & hiding speaker wire, when you can have as good or a better experience with these!? You download the app, update each speaker to the latest version, and you're off to the races. Spotify integration works flawlessly, and Tidal works just as well, but SOUNDS immensely better. (Note: the Tidal app is slightly clunkier than Spotify but makes up for it with the benefit of HiFi & maser files). I do want to note I only use these for music purposes, and have not used them for TV / Movies, nor do I ever plan to. I also purchased the Formation Bass for a complete 2.1 setup. The Formation Bass definitely gives them that extra punch, for a better overall experience, but it's not entirely necessary. These Duo's put out a significant amount of base on their own, so you can get away without having the Formation Bass depending on what your music style is. The mid's are crisp & everything that you would expect out of a speaker of this caliber, and the highs are tight & clean. All of the other reviews you see on BB complaining about connectivity issues are likely due to user error. I have Verizon Fios 1GB internet with the new router, and I haven't run into any connectivity issues while listening to them. My primary setup for listening is through an iPhone or my MacBook Pro to stream music to them. Both have had zero issues, and total set up time took 5 minutes. My experience with these speakers have been nothing short of superb. If you're looking for a quality set of loud speakers don't want the headache of running speaker wire, I can't recommend them enough. Based on the performance of these speakers, I'm all in on wireless technology for speakers. Absolutely floored about this purchase.

Decent Quality Sound, however some concerns

The Bowers and Wilkins Pi6 Earbuds fit in the ear comfortably (for me, anyway) and seem to hold in well. I had an older pair of over the ear headphones I loved from Bowers & Wilkins, so my expectations were high for these based on that. The sound quality on the Pi6 is very good, however, at the same price (as of this writing) you can find better quality (to my personal taste) sound earbuds from other companies. In comparison, I played back a few songs repeatedly through both the Pi6 and a similar priced alternate earbud, even repeatedly playing like the same 10 seconds of songs--- and both the bass and treble sounded better on the other ones. On the Pi6, I did go into the user equalizer settings and experimented with the treble and bass settings while music was playing, and while they had an effect, these earbuds seemed optimized for the middle (0 on treble and bass). Separate from sound quality, when I first set them up, they paired on both Bluetooth and the app connected them on Bluetooth Low Energy, and this resulted in repeated reconnection attempts between the two separate connections (Yes, Settings->Bluetooth on the phone showed two separate connection devices for the Pi6, which it was switching between). This meant that while I was listening to music, I'd continually hear the connection tones in the earbuds. Unpairing and repairing them manually seemed to fix that. After resolving that, one earbud continually cut out for a while. I then left them overnight in the charging case (being frustrated) in case the earbuds themselves had low batteries somehow. The next day they were fine, however after about 30 minutes use the right earbud did start to cut in and out again (they were fine for 20-30 minutes before that). I was somewhat disappointed in these, both because I had better expectations for the brand (based on previous use), and because of the difficulties with set-up and the earbuds cutting out a little too often.

Bowers & Wilkins is known for exceptional sounding speakers and headphones, and the Pi6 earbuds are no exception. The Pi6 come in a relatively small form factor, with no protruding teardrop microphones or large speaker housing. This allows for a streamlined esthetic, a look which continues with a choice of four colors and a subtle “Bowers & Wilkins” in small letters. Well balanced and lightweight, the Pi6 fit securely and comfortably in the ear. At no time have I felt as if they would come loose in every day use (moving about inside, hiking outside). They’re easy to wear for hours at a time with no fatigue. They’re the most comfortable earbuds I own. Active noise cancellation is quite good, although there are just three settings rather than a sliding dial. Still, three settings is plenty for most of us. I found that on the ANC setting the Pi6 effectively blocked out street noises while outside and the sound of a vacuum cleaner while working. With support for the aptX Adaptive codec, the Bluetooth connection is crystal clear with no transmission delays. aptX Classic, AAC, and SBC codecs are also supported. Multipoint connectivity is available for two concurrent devices. The issue with the Pi6 Bluetooth is range. It cuts out at distances that my other Bluetooth headsets easily support, and does not automatically reconnect when back in range. Other than Bluetooth range, the app is the other area where things do fall down a bit. While I’m not one for complicated controls, there simply aren’t a lot of options. As noted above, there are only three ANC settings, on, pass-through, and off. And the graphic equalizer supports just two tone adjustments, bass and treble. At this price point I would expect a parametric equalizer with a minimum of five settings. You cannot store multiple profiles for different say, music, audio books, and movies, or multiple environments, such as airplane, train, home, or walking. Now, to the most important part of the review. The reason anyone buys Bowers & Wilkins is the audio quality. The Pi6 do not disappoint. The default setting is bass-heavy. This can be adjusted to a more neutral tone in the app, something you will probably want to do right away. The sound is crisp and individual notes are extremely well defined. With a remarkably wide sound stage, instrument separation is excellent. You can hear the pick hitting the string on guitar pieces, and every note in a bass run is clear and distinct. You’ll pick out parts of a song that were hidden with less accurate headphones. Overall, these are beautiful sounding earbuds with long-lasting comfort. If the Bluetooth range and app restrictions get fixed with a software update they will easily warrant five stars.

In the box: • Pi8 earphones • 3.5mm single-ended (SE) to USB-C cable (32-inch) • USB-C to C cable (24-inch) • Charging case • L, M (installed), S, XS ear tips Setup: Initial pairing with Windows 11 laptop was straightforward without the B&W Music app. Multi-point pairing was clunky. Pairing with a second device resulted in frequent unexpected beeps when the first device was nearby. The first device had to be unpaired for the beeping to stop. Firmware updates require pairing to a device with the B&W Music app installed. A firmware update was required before first use. Design: The earphones and case are well made from molded plastic. The rounded sides on all but the front and back of the case prevent it from standing vertically. The earphones are small and the medium tips provided a good seal and comfortable fit for me. I wouldn’t wear them while jogging but they feel relatively secure. The 3.5mm SE to USB-C and USB-C to USB-C cables allow the case to serve as the Bluetooth transmitter (a nice feature for connecting DAPs without Bluetooth capabilities). I paired with a digital audio player (DAP) with Bluetooth and 3.5mm output. After testing the Bluetooth connectivity, I switched to the 3.5mm connection. I had to open and close the case once before the 3.5mm connection to the Pi8 case worked properly. However, I had to perform a factory reset on the Pi8 before Bluetooth worked properly again. Operation: B&W Music app includes some advanced controls: • Noise cancellation: On, Pass Through, and Off (Note: turning ANC off can only be done with the app.) • 5-band equalizer. +6 to -6 in increments of 0.5 • “True Sound™”. Temporarily disables EQ settings (if applied). • Paired devices. Allows pairing of new devices and removal of previously paired (and disconnected) devices. • Touch controls. Switches tap & hold interactions between ANC/Voice Assistant and Volume Control. The app does not permit assignment of functions to specific actions. • Wear sensor. When enabled, playback is paused when either earbud is removed. Touch Controls: Touch controls work the same on either earbud. Playback can be controlled with single (play/pause or answer incoming call), double (next track), or triple (previous track) taps on either earbud. Two short + 1 long tap disconnects a call in progress. Touch and hold functionality depends on the setting selected in the B&W Music app. Telephony: Phone calls were excellent on both ends. The Pi8 is a great choice for teleconferences and video-conferences. Audio Quality: Frequency response and sound stage were assessed with a Hi-Res DAP with aptX codec, flat equalization, and sharp roll-off filter (on the DAP). B&W literature contains no reference to the frequency response range except to note that response in the high frequencies is improved over earlier models. This is my first pair of B&W earbuds so I can only speak to their performance. It is excellent! Bass notes were balanced but a bit extended despite the sharp roll-off filter (featured tracks 1, 2, 7, 11, 15, & 21). Mid-range and vocals are clear and only slightly overshadowed by the bass (featured tracks 3, 4, 5, 6, & 14). Hi-hats and cymbal brushes were well represented and easy to hear (featured tracks 11, 12, 13, 15, & 18). The Pi8 is a solid performer without equalization. I prefer a flat frequency response without thumping bass or sibilant highs. The Pi8 delivers for me but may not suit users with a preference for a bass-forward sound signature. The sound stage was very good. Binaural recordings, jazz, and orchestral recordings were well-presented and spacious with good instrument separation (featured tracks 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22, 23, & 24). Battery: Battery life is good given the inherent demands of noise canceling and Bluetooth. Two and a half hours of play with ANC took the battery from 98% to 60%, perfectly tracking with the stated 6.5h battery life. Overall: For their comfort, excellent telephony, and sound quality over a wide dynamic range, the Pi8 will be in my short list for wireless ANC earbuds. I have used other TWS earbuds with better ANC performance but few with the staging, sound quality, and excellent telephony of the Pi8. Featured tracks: 1. Better fit and sound

I have a set of B&W Pi7 that don't get as much use as I'd like to have given them. The angle of the fit causes discomfort after a few hours so I ended keeping them as back ups to another pair. Yet I love the sound quality, but wish they fit better for me ears. The Pi8's fix the biggest issue I had with the Pi7's and I had no problems wearing them for three hours doing yard work. But setup didn't go without issue. First I had to go through multiple attempts to get them paired to my Fold 5. The next issue was that my left bud didn't seem to cancel as much noise as might. Pair, repair, on/off, etc... nothing would work. So I tested to make sure each bud was actually cancelling noise. Pulled one bud on the case and toggled NC. Put that one back in, check the other and toggled. Both did fine and this time the left started cancelling equally to the right bud. Success! The noise cancelling isn't it's strongest suit but it does a good job of reducing the amount of outside noise interrupting your session. The sound was terrific. The lows are well pronounced without being muddy and the highs didn't pierce - this is with a flat EQ on both the app and my phone's setting. The only thing I did do was to profile the headphones to my ears with Samsung's calibration. Without the profile the soundstage seemed a bit narrow and too bright. Post calibration it was near perfect. One feature that turns the Pi8's into a set of gaming buds is the case itself. It acts like a dongle or transmitter. If you've ever gamed using BT headsets on a PC you'd notice the lag, even with low latency it would drive me crazy. Having a dedicated dongle eliminates the delay and makes the Pi8's a terrific choice for gaming. Echolocation is a bit off, but most buds I've tried aren't as good at mimicking location as open backed headphones are. But buds do a good job of isolating sound and not wearing your neck down (I have pinched nerve in my neck that aggravates from wearing a headphone for too long). The only negative I have is the app. You have to submit personal details and make an account just to be able to tweak the EQ and have limited options to "customize" your touch inputs - there are only two options. It's basically a worthless app and not on my phone any more. Most headphone apps are ridiculously unnecessary. To sum it up - darn good audio quality with an bonus of being a great set of gaming buds. No need to for the app, so don't bother installing it.
