This was two hours of my life that I can't get back. Innovative - yes. Interesting - no. Several of my friends liked it, but I sure didn't. I kept waiting for something to happen, and nothing ever did.

It takes twelve years for them to figure out that they don't have a plot and the kid can't act.

    Moving Slice of Life Picture

This is a very personal film, made by Richard Linklater, about the universal experience of growing up in modern America. Shot over 12 years in small vignettes every year to illustrate the ups and downs of being a boy at different points in the life of the main character. We as viewers get to see his loving but separated nuclear family grow up along with him along with some other tertiary characters. It all somehow comes together into a cohesive and moving film that isn't about anything in particular but becomes a study in life.

The movie overall was pretty good. I love how it was a project that took 15 or more years of filming. They would film a little bit every year. By doing that, you get to see the boy, and sister, grow up & it being the same exact character instead of trying to get actors that would possibly look kind of similar by predicting what they will look as they grow up. To me, that is very cool that they did it that way. It's a long movie, but does not seem like it at all.

Boyhood is the BEST movie i've seen in many years. I have never seen anything like it. Highly recommend for this amazing slice of life for over 12 years. Richard Linklater may be the best American director.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of film that you can't miss! Since it was filmed over the course of one boy's childhood, you really feel like you are watching him grow up. It will remind you of the struggles of becoming an adult. It's really unique and heartwarming.

not worth the praise i've seen it receive. it isn't a bad film, but not great. shows what it's like to grow up. best thing about it is the nostalgia it brings up with things from childhood and real moments in life. don't expect a great drama, you just jump in and out of moments of a boy growing up. i really enjoy indie movies, so it's not like i didn't "get" this movie. not the worse movie to see, but nothing that you need to

A very interesting concept and way of execution for making a film chronologically showing the life of a child as he grows up. Highly recommended.

"Boyhood" is exquisite. By creating the film over 12 years, he captures the soul of growing up.
