What usually works is placing the vent clips into the bottom-most vent bar, so that the mount is supported at its base. This should secure the mount and prevent it from falling at all. The AutoGrip Clamp mount has a maximum width of 3.75 inches, so any device wider than that will not fit unfortunately, although most devices are smaller than that. I'd consider looking into Bracketron's MagnetXT mounts and the AutoGrip Magnet mount at Best Buy as they do not have a width restriction. Hand free eyes on the road

In case your vehicle is not compatible with vent mounts, please also consider Bracketron's other mount applications such as dashboard, windshield, cup holder and CD Slot mounts which can be great replacements.
