Make sure you rotate the circular ridged piece at the base of the mount in order to widen the base. This should allow your mount to fit. The only way to stop it from rattling is put the phone in it or remove it. I am not sure if I have a defective one or they all do it. I would return it but unfortunately I didn’t keep the box

Make sure you twist the ridged ring on the bottom of the mount in order to extend the diameter of the base, so that it can fit snugly in your cup holder.
