I don't have a smooth dashboard as it's somewhat textured so that may be the reason. I don't like mounts that adhere to windshields. This may work for someone else but it did not for me. I like the extra fold out supports at the bottom as it helps to secure the device.

Posted .You may encounter an issue if your dash is heavily textured. Otherwise, make sure the mounting location on the dash is wiped clean of dirt and oils. If the bottom of the suction cup is dirty, wash that with warm water as well and allow to dry. Then, try firmly pressing the cup down and locking the lever to secure.
