I am baffled by the 5-star reviews here. They must be fake or promotional. I cannot believe a $160 coffee grinder could be this big of a piece of garbage! The fourth time I used it, it started clogging. When it clogs, it makes a high-pitched clicking and screeching sound, which, as nice as that is to wake up to in the morning, I did not enjoy the part where you have to disassemble and clean it after griding every 1/2 cup of coffee. Besides that, whatever kindergarten engineers designed this gem clearly did not understand the basic principles of static electricity. Every time you pull the hopper away from the machine to empty it, whatever coffee ended up in there and not behind it (where you have to clean out every time you use it) is static and about 10% goes all over your counter and your hands. The picture shows how much coffee ends up on the counter after one use. Garbage!

Works great for my expresso, once it’s dialed in. I’ve found a grind setting of 6, and 15.2 seconds of grind is the right spot for my expresso machine to make a double. I was looking at grinders twice or 3 times as expensive, but I’m happy with this one.

The order process via Best buy was awesome.
The machine is intuitive and simple to operate, it offers 60 step grinder setting. If you want to pull a good espresso shot you need to experiment with the grinder setting, it took me 6 tries to dial in the settings. The machine has a timer as well, you can dial the timer to get the correct amount of ground coffee (thus minimal waste).
The machine has a small conical grinder, so it is not fast (it takes ~20sec to get enough espresso ground coffee).
Overall I am happy with the purchase, good grinder at a good price point.
If you are an espresso aficionado, this machine is not for you

Honestly takes your coffee experiences from a zero to 5 stars (as long as you read up on proper grind sizes for your brew method).

Works great! I use specifically for espresso, and it gets the jobs done. Love that it’s semi digital, it does disperse clumps though, so WDT is needed

Was surprised it worked so much better than expected. Bonus was it took the portafilter directly! Makes a nice compliment to the Breville Bambino.

This is a nice looking grinder and comes with some premium features and accessories. This grinder suffers from a LOT of retention inside due to static and more importantly this grinder cant grind espresso well, it makes large clumps that cause channeling in the portafilter as evident by areas where espresso doesn't drip out. If you are using a PRESSURIZED basket (Breville, Delonghi, etc) this grinder will work perfectly for you since you dont have to grind super fine. BUT if you are using it a regular basket in a real espresso machine with a bottomless portafilter this grinder is NOT for you.

This grinder works great, plenty of settings and they correspond great when I checked them with manual measurements. I'm only using it to grind coffee for a moccamaster (Technivorm). I haven't tried it for fine grinds yet.

The Ultimate Grinder

I have used the Rancilio Rocky coffee grinder for a few years ($350+) and this absolutely destroys it in every way possible. This grinder has stepped up my coffee game. I can now easily move from espresso all the way down to cold brew. Adjusting it super easy. The only thing you will want to do is experiment a bit with the built in times so you can get your settings right. I use this the most for making pots of coffee using the Breville coffee machine. It is the ultimate pair! Fun tip if you are doing bbq or baking chocolate goods set this to the finest setting and it creates coffee so fine it dissolves into your mixes and really boosts the chocolate flavor!

I have used a Capressa burr grinder for years but it finally broke. This grinder is pretty expensive but it works very well indeed. Once set up it is convenient to use and produces a very consistent grind which can be exactly fine tuned. If you use a fine grind it tends to clog which has to be cleared. Not hard to do but it defeats the automatic measurement function. I don’t care because I always measure out my grounds anyway and it doesn’t clog at my setting which is medium.

The Smart Grinder Pro Aces the Competition!

The Breville Smart Grinder Pro that I bought to replace my ancient, failed Cuisinart coffee grinder, has been a wonderful addition to my wife’s and my kitchen. The former Grinder did grinding mostly by guesswork, because we had to stand and watch it grind until the very loud motor softened its sound indicating the grind was complete. The Smart Grinder Pro lets us choose a grind setting, then the amount of cups, start it with a simple button touch, and we can walk away while it quietly grinds and then shuts itself off. When the grind is done, once the freshly ground coffee has been moved to our French Press Carafe, the machine goes to sleep after a few minutes and the digital display shuts off until the next use. The ease of use and the ability to change the grind selection so quickly, makes this machine a superior selection, and its quietness is just a pleasant bonus. My wife and I recommend it highly, and we would purchase it again if we needed to.

Another quality product from Breville. Very easy to use. Would recommend buying a bag of cheap whole beans to “find your grind” for whatever style coffee you like - that way you can dial it in or get close to it without wasting expensive coffee beans - for example I need to grind a little finer than what they recommend to get the consistency that works best for my coffee maker.

Relatively quiet. So far operates as as advertised. It is not too large. Best feature for us is that you can adjust the amount of coffee per cup brewed and then it will automatically apply that proportion whether you brew 4 cups or 12 cups. It is pricey, but much less than professional machines. First grinder, so no prior experience. Typically we just grind straight into a paper filter which works easy enough.

There are so many choices to when it comes to burr grinders, and while this is my first one, it has been a game-changer in my coffee drinking game. I have historically bought whole-bean coffee and used a blade grinder (much like a spice-grinder), which resulted in a wide range of granule sizes in the grounds, all the way from powder to something more appropriate for a French press (>1mm diameter).
The Breville Smart Grinder Pro has adjustable grind sizes for any brewing style and method, churns out consistent granule sizes, and does it quickly. It may seem crazy to say this, but since I switched to this burr grinder, my coffee tastes better (probably because I am actually getting the grounds all the same size and infusing the water more consistently). Use use a Ninja coffee system, and right now, I pour my grinds into a #4 unbleached (brown) conical filter, and it is amazing.
So why the 4 stars? Two reasons: 1) the machine is very loud, and since I am the first one up in the morning, sometimes it does disturb my 1-year old who sleeps on the main level (even though a dining room and living room separates the spaces). 2) It is very messy, and where I get my beans from a local roaster, the little papery skins from the beans flake everywhere around the machine, the collection canister, and the counter. Perhaps I am doing something wrong or I'm missing a part, but I suggest you keep a small hand-vac nearby to collect the mess regularly.
