Breville Barista Express
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Breville Barista Express for several months now, and it’s easily one of the best purchases I’ve made for my kitchen. This machine gives you café-quality espresso at home without needing to be a professional barista. The built-in grinder is a huge plus—freshly ground beans make a noticeable difference in flavor, and the grind size adjustment is very precise. The pressure gauge is super helpful for dialing in the perfect shot, especially if you’re still learning. Once you get the hang of it, the espresso comes out rich, smooth, and full of crema. The steam wand is powerful and lets me make great microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos. I also appreciate the solid build quality—this machine feels premium and durable, not cheap or plasticky. There is a small learning curve at first, but Breville clearly designed this machine for people who want to learn and improve. After a little practice, it becomes second nature. If you’re serious about coffee and want to save money on café drinks long-term, this machine is 100% worth it. Highly recommend to any coffee lover.

Decent Machine but Overhyped
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using this espresso machine for a bit now, and overall it performs well. It looks great on the counter, the built-in grinder is convenient, and it can make a solid cup of espresso once everything is dialed in. The steamer works fine too, though it takes some practice to get consistent results. That said, I don’t think it fully lives up to the price or the hype around it. While I like the machine, the performance doesn’t feel significantly better than some less expensive options. It takes time to fine-tune and maintain, and for the cost, I expected a more premium experience. Overall, it’s a good espresso maker, just not the exceptional value many reviews make it seem.

Best Coffee Machine Ever!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently had the pleasure of trying out a coffee machine that was without a doubt, the most awesome coffee machine I have ever used. The machine had a range of features that I had never seen before, including a milk frother that produced perfectly frothed milk for my cappuccinos and lattes, and a built-in grinder that ground my coffee beans to just the right consistency. The machine was incredibly easy to use, with a simple touch screen that allowed me to select my desired coffee strength and size at the touch of a button. The final product was a perfectly brewed, rich and flavourful coffee that tasted as if it had been made by a barista in a high-end coffee shop. The coffee machine was also incredibly easy to clean, with removable parts that could be washed in the dishwasher. Overall, this coffee machine is an absolute game-changer and a must-have for anyone who wants to enjoy high-quality coffee at home.

A beauty!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s a beautiful little piece of machinery. Being an espresso making novice, I almost let myself get overwhelmed and give up in the first couple of hours, but patience paid off (as did quite a few YouTube videos) and I was pulling delicious shots in no time. I almost went the super automatic route but I have to say it has been very satisfying to learn the process and develop the ritual of doing this myself…and breville gives you everything you need to do just that—I did invest in a few minor accessories after the fact but everything you need is in the box. Highly rrecommended!

The Breville BES870XL in Action
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Investing in the Breville Barista BES870XL is like inviting a professional barista into your kitchen—but without the attitude. This espresso machine strikes a rare balance between ease of use and genuine craftsmanship, making it a standout choice for both beginners and coffee enthusiasts looking to elevate their morning routine. The built-in conical burr grinder is a game-changer. It delivers freshly ground coffee on demand, and the adjustable grind size ensures you can tailor your espresso to suit your exact preferences. The grind dial might seem intimidating at first, but it quickly becomes an intuitive tool for fine-tuning your shots. Speaking of shots, the extraction process is where this machine truly shines. The pressure gauge acts like a coach, helping you perfect your tamp and dose for consistently rich crema. For me, the difference was noticeable within just a few tries. There’s a sense of pride that comes with nailing the perfect shot, and the BES870XL makes it feel like an achievable art rather than a frustrating science. The steam wand is equally impressive. It provides ample power to create microfoam for latte art or rich froth for cappuccinos. While mastering the wand takes a bit of practice, the results are more than worth it—silky, café-quality milk every time. If I had to nitpick, cleaning can feel a bit involved, especially with all the removable parts. However, the included cleaning tools and reminders make the process manageable, and it’s a small price to pay for the quality of espresso you’re getting. The Breville BES870XL isn’t just a machine; it’s an experience. It invites you to slow down, experiment, and savor every cup. For anyone serious about coffee, this is less an appliance and more a gateway to an entirely new level of appreciation.

Loud and waste water but a good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does make a great espresso or cappuccino. It does measure water very accurately however, it does expell and waste a lot of water. Water waste may not mean a lot to many people but we use spring water and the machine expells water into the tray below. It is a noisy machine but it is heavy and seams to be made well. It is difficult to tune in at first and a challenge to use until you understand it. I worked as barista for a high end , high ouput restaurant for years. I feel i am qualified to accurately judge this machine. I hope you find this helpful.

Love coffee
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m very happy with the Breville Barista Express. The stainless steel design looks elegant and feels high-quality. The built-in grinder is super convenient and allows me to adjust the grind to the exact level I want, which makes a big difference in the espresso flavor. The 15-bar pressure ensures consistent extraction, and the milk frother works great for cappuccinos and lattes with creamy foam. It does take a little practice to dial in the grind and shot, but once you get the hang of it, the results are coffee-shop quality. Overall, this is the perfect machine for anyone looking to upgrade from a basic coffee maker to a more professional experience at home. Definitely worth the investment!

Breville Barista: A coffee shop in your home
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the Breville Barista Express, and it’s been a total game-changer for my coffee routine. This machine is perfect for anyone who loves high-quality espresso but doesn’t want to rely on coffee shops every day. It has everything you need to make professional-grade coffee at home: a built-in grinder, precise temperature control, and a powerful steam wand for frothing milk. The built-in grinder is fantastic—freshly ground coffee makes such a difference in flavor. Plus, you can adjust the grind size to suit your taste. The brewing process is super customizable, which allows you to perfect your shot exactly how you like it. The steam wand is easy to use and creates a creamy microfoam that’s ideal for lattes and cappuccinos. I’ve even started experimenting with latte art! What surprised me most was how user-friendly the machine is, even for beginners. The setup is straightforward, and the instructions are clear. After just a few tries, I was pulling espresso shots like a pro. The build quality is excellent, with a sleek stainless steel design that looks great on my kitchen counter. It feels sturdy and well-made, so I’m confident it will last for years. The only small downside is that cleaning takes a bit of effort, but that’s to be expected with any espresso machine. Once you get into the habit, it’s not a big deal. Overall, the Breville Barista Express is worth every penny. If you’re serious about coffee and want to elevate your home brewing game, this is the machine to get!

Love the Process!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, I have not written a review in a long time but I wanted to take the opportunity to write it this time because I am loving the Breville Barista Express: - Yes, it was a learning curve to understand the different variables to get an excellent Espresso, but once you learn how to do it, every cup of coffee is perfect! - This Machine is NOT for Coffee consumers that do not appreciate a good cup of coffee or if you are not willing to put the time on it. Meaning that it really is an art. - It took me around 2 weeks to get it right and understand the “Pressure”, “Tapping”, Coffee Grinding, etc… But today I love the process. I highly recommend this Espresso Machine, coffee is delicicious and the process, once you get it down, is simple. Hope this helps at least one person. = )

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Breville Barista Express has completely transformed our coffee game at home. From the moment we unboxed it, everything about this machine felt premium. The stainless steel design looks sleek and professional on the counter, and the build quality is outstanding. The integrated grinder is a total game-changer — being able to grind fresh beans directly into the portafilter means unbeatable freshness and flavor in every cup. The 15-bar pressure delivers consistently rich, café-quality espresso with beautiful crema. Plus, the steam wand gives you full control for silky, frothy milk — perfect for lattes and cappuccinos. It does take a bit of a learning curve to dial everything in just right (grind size, tamping, etc.), but that’s part of the fun — and once you do, the results are amazing. It’s truly like having a coffee shop at home. Highly recommend for anyone who wants quality, control, and a great espresso experience every morning!

Professional Quality Espresso
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has taken me some time to become proficient using this product for sure. Keeping certain components clean is a must. I'm really surprised that there is not a low water alert of some sort. The machine will still attempt to dispense water even when the water gets low. Seems essential for such an expensive machine. Finding the right grind size and keeping the entire process identical each time is key (grind setting, weight of coffee, compacting coffee, etc). Once you gain consistency in the process, it becomes easier. Overall it's a good product but there maybe a more cost efficient way of getting quality espresso. The built in grinder is nice but I still have to use a scale and tamper purchased else where.

Great Cappuccino at Home
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been researching expresso machines for 3-4 years and was reluctant to make a commitment since pricing ranged anywhere from $200 to $5000. As an amateur barista (that means I love my cappuccino but not Starbucks prices) I took the plunge on the Breville Express machine after reading extensive reviews and watching several videos. The ~$700 price was reasonable but the real tipping point was the integrated grinder. To be fair I also own a Breville toaster which is the best I've ever had so the brand is viewed very favorably. I can already see getting the double boiler machine in the future but not ready for that price tag yet. Milk foaming had a little learning curve, but overall very easy to use. Warning -- this machine will spoil you. Oh did I mention this it also looks good in the kitchen .... LOVE MY MORNING CAPPUCCINO...!

Good entry level machine for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, excellent features and a solid machine for this price point. If you are serious about your coffee, pre-ground is off the table. The grinder is highly adjustable, even top bur can be removed and adjusted for finer or coarser grind if grind size doesn't yield a good shot. The grounds get staticy, but hey, you just got a machine with a built in grinder for about $700, so be grateful it works. The dosing (amount of coffee programmed to release for a single or double shot) is adjustable as well. I played with both of these settings and still had extraction trouble. Luckily, YouTube came to my rescue with tons of videos available to problem solve any issue I was having. Ultimately, I had to adjust my top bur because my shots were pouring too quickly (aiming for 25 seconds) and the pressure gauge wasn't reaching the espresso range. Once I adjusted the top bur using a video from Seattle Coffee Gear, I got great results using the single wall filter baskets. The shot volume is programmable by time, not volume, but it does allow you to get close to 1oz for a single shot and 2oz for a double. The tamper is magnetic and is stored elegantly in the machine. It works well. There is a razor included to help you measure dosing, but it really isn't necessary. Use the tamper and as long as the silver is mostly below the rim of the portafilter, you're there. It really is a bit of an art, and just takes time to figure out. I stick with the same beans because to me, Kaladi Trieste are perfection, but if you like to experiment, you will likely need to do some fine tuning with each new batch. All of these things matter because if your shot pours too quickly it will be sour. If it pours too slowly it will taste burned and bitter. Now for the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars. So much of the machine is plastic and just screams "I will break within three years!" Perhaps even more irksome than the amount of plastic is that the steam wand is powered by a non-adjustable knob with three settings-steam, hot water, and off. I would strongly prefer adjustable steam pressure. Steaming takes about 45 seconds for each milk based drink. With some practice and a decent sized milk frothing pitcher, you can get some good micro-foam. The pitcher that comes with the machine is very high quality, though a bit small if you'd like a larger latte. This is a single boiler machine which means you can't brew coffee and steam milk at the same time. I let the machine heat up for 20 minutes before using with the portafilter in place (without coffee) before using it and that seems to help with a faster transition to steam from coffee brewing. If I were to do it over again I would go for a higher end but less fancy machine like the Gaggia Classic Pro and a separate grinder like the Eureka Silenzio. That's about an $1100 investment, though. I will say that once I get into something, I tend to go overboard and am now looking at much higher end prosumer level machines, so if you think you can keep your head about you once you dive into the magical world of espresso, this might be the perfect machine for you. For the features, you really can't beat what you get for this price.

Great buy, bad steam wand.
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, the Breville Express is a fantastic espresso machine. It pulls accurate shots almost every time, and looks great in the kitchen. The only downside is that the steam wand doesn’t work well. It takes forever for it to steam, and half the time doesn’t really work the way you’d want it to. Luckily, we mainly drink iced.
