Takes a little while to get the espresso correct and some research (I am also a former barista), but once you do, this is great to have. Be prepared to waste a lot of espresso beans perfecting the shot. My only complaints are minor. I wish the water tank was on the side and not the back and that the espresso grinder output was lower. The steam wand takes some time to heat up and to froth milk, but froths well. The good parts about this machine is that I love that a grinder and steam wand is included with it. Having everything all-in-one at this price is amazing. The controls are also very easy to understand and it is very easy to clean the bottom (even has a tab that comes up when it's time to clean). I love that the tamper is magnetic and has a storage solution. This will save me so much money in the long run and I am very happy with this machine.

We're not experienced barista by any means. But this Espresso Machine is easy to use and looks good in the kitchen. We were having issue in getting the pressure up into the espresso range with the default Grind size... but after many cups of trial and error, finally we were able to with the lower end of the grind size. One downside is we've seen one or two times where the steam wand stopped blowing steam in the middle of the process. Not sure what that was about. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase.

First: this machine makes such good coffee, it probably *is* worth the retail price... but it goes on sale so often at various major retailers, you should set yourself a price alert and jump on Best Buy's price matching whenever it hits 25-30% off retail. I did that and felt better about spending the extra $$$ for Geek Squad service, which has saved my butt a few times with other semi-major appliance purchases and gives me more peace of mind with this beauty. Second: Oh my god, the coffee. I don't know why we've been suffering at home through years and years of sub-par espresso (or maybe "espresso"?) shots pulled from a series of bottom-end DeLonghi machines, when we could have been starting every day with lattes that put Starbucks and every other local coffee shop to shame. As other reviewers have noted, it takes a little experimentation to hit on the right balance of grind size and amount and tamping pressure, and every time you try different coffee beans you may have to waste a couple of shots getting everything dialed in again. But once you get the hang of it, it's pretty much foolproof and oh-so-satisfying to pull a couple of perfect shots. Cleanup does take a little effort — but I could see how cutting corners on purging the group head and cleaning the steam wand after every brew cycle could come back to haunt you later, so I'm fine with having to spend an extra few minutes on cleanup every day. Time will tell how well it holds up, but it seems like people who take good care of their machines generally get years of use out of them. And the coffee is absolutely spectacular.

I only drink 1 cup of cappuccino a day. My go to place was S’bucks. After getting the breville espresso maker, I realize how bad the quality of coffee was in Starbucks. I love the cappuccino that I can make. It’s quick to make and easy to clean. Settings are fairly intuitive and the all steel construction is classics breville. The consistency of the espresso is great.

Even if you are a newbie like me, this machine is very beginner friendly and there are many many youtube videos of people reviewing this and showing you how to make good espresso. The quality of this unit has been pretty good so far. Great packaging and the stainless steel didnt have any scratches or blemishes when unpacking. If you love espresso and want one at home, you can't go wrong with this one.

I'm still learning all the cool gadgets on this thing, but the espresso making is simple to learn and I love that its all contained in a single appliance. Really adds a fantastic option for our weekends and late nights. The machine also allows the ability to get individual with your espresso through re-programming to make the perfect cup just for you.

This Machine grinds the beans, makes single or double shot espresso coffee and even froths the milk with its steam wand. It IS pretty much automatic but, needs effort to tune it. But if you do invest the time, you will be rewarded with excellent coffee. Every part of the process is highly configurable especially the grind size and amount of coffee used. The pressure gauge provides absolute feedback as the coffee is being produced and you can make adjustments for the next cup. Very happy with it!

This has easily been the best purchase I have made in a long time. This machine has already saved me money. Yeah its a little pricey, but so is Starbucks. That stuff adds up everyday. I use this thing all the time. It is easy to use and maintain. Have your espresso drink hot or make it iced. My suggestion to anybody thinking about buying this. Do it. You won't regret it. I would also suggest getting some different flavored syrups for lattes if you're into that.

Easy to operate. You may want the touch screen version of this but this is more affordable.

At first I was so intimidated with this machine. Within a couple of uses it became so easy to use. I’m so glad I ordered this machine and I highly recommend it. It makes delicious cappuccinos. Simple to use and easy cleanup. I now look forward on making my drinks every morning!

Best purchased ever made . No more Starbucks Worth every penny

The Barista Express is well worth the price and makes a fine dining-level espresso, latte or cappuccino. I have had one for nine years now with no problems. I recommend getting the model with the coffee grinder attachment because it is best to grind the beans immediately before brewing. Enjoy!

Amazing. Easy to use. Simple setup. Love the coffee

I love this machine. It's super simple to learn how to use, is easy to clean, and makes delicious drinks. I usually make an Americano, which takes me about 4 minutes from start to finish. Grinding the coffee before every cup really does make a huge difference in the taste! The only thing I was a little bummed about is that it came with a dent on the front panel and we did not feel comfortable going into the store to exchange it. The knock box accessory is a must have!
