Breville Barista Express
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Breville Barista Express for several months now, and it’s easily one of the best purchases I’ve made for my kitchen. This machine gives you café-quality espresso at home without needing to be a professional barista. The built-in grinder is a huge plus—freshly ground beans make a noticeable difference in flavor, and the grind size adjustment is very precise. The pressure gauge is super helpful for dialing in the perfect shot, especially if you’re still learning. Once you get the hang of it, the espresso comes out rich, smooth, and full of crema. The steam wand is powerful and lets me make great microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos. I also appreciate the solid build quality—this machine feels premium and durable, not cheap or plasticky. There is a small learning curve at first, but Breville clearly designed this machine for people who want to learn and improve. After a little practice, it becomes second nature. If you’re serious about coffee and want to save money on café drinks long-term, this machine is 100% worth it. Highly recommend to any coffee lover.

Don't waste your money
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Start leaking after 6 months of using. When emailing Breville they suggest to take it back and assist the issue instead of replacing their broken machine. They expect that it is normal to set for few weeks without coffee until they figure out what is wrong with it.

Excellent Espresso Machine – Worth Every Penny!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using the Barista Espresso Machine for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly impressed. The build quality feels solid and premium, and it heats up fast—perfect for busy mornings. The espresso it produces is rich, smooth, and full of flavor with great crema every time. What I love most is how easy it is to use and clean. The steam wand froths milk perfectly for cappuccinos and lattes, and the controls are simple enough even for someone who isn’t a pro barista. It’s compact enough to fit nicely on my counter but still looks stylish and professional. If you’re serious about coffee or just want to upgrade from a basic coffee maker, this machine delivers café-quality drinks at home. Highly recommend it!

Decent Machine but Overhyped
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been using this espresso machine for a bit now, and overall it performs well. It looks great on the counter, the built-in grinder is convenient, and it can make a solid cup of espresso once everything is dialed in. The steamer works fine too, though it takes some practice to get consistent results. That said, I don’t think it fully lives up to the price or the hype around it. While I like the machine, the performance doesn’t feel significantly better than some less expensive options. It takes time to fine-tune and maintain, and for the cost, I expected a more premium experience. Overall, it’s a good espresso maker, just not the exceptional value many reviews make it seem.

Fantastic, fully featured espresso machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After debating on whether to take the plunge on a full featured espresso machine like this one or go for something cheaper/simpler, I could not have had my expectations blown away any more than they are after using this machine. I am a novice when it comes to making coffee (went from a nespresso to a couple of french press/pour over methods but never felt like I got the taste to match or surpass getting something made at a coffee shop). This Breville machine made it feel like after a single pour, I was an expert. Setup was straightforward enough - they include a handy quick setup/reference sheet that helps you get through the initial steps and perform your first extraction. The box includes all of the pieces you should ever need to clean/maintain your machine (except for disposable products like filters and descaling tablets). Operating the machine is super straightforward, and what helped me the most is that on the back of the quick setup guide is a nice tuning guide that helps understand what to do to get the best extraction you can get. In total the machine has so many customizations that you can get super crazy dialing the machine to a specific bean that you are trying to brew. After reading through the manual, cleaning/maintenance of the machine also seems doable. After dialing the machine in to get a good extraction, both my girlfriend and I were able to enjoy our favorite starbucks orders from the comfort of our own home, and they actually tasted better than when we order sometimes! tl;dr - A fantastic fully featured espresso machine currently $200 less than anything comparable. While I don't have the most refined palate, this machine has reviewed really well in terms of its taste. I'm incredibly happy with the price of this product, the quality it produces, the money I'm going to save by not going to starbucks every morning, and the fun I'm going to have learning how to make world class espresso.

A gift purchase.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up as an xmas gift for my partner. Setup was simple, although the app it wanted us to download for setup instructions was un-intuitive at best, looking up one of the myriad of YouTube videos was easier. It's a sleek and nice machine, makes great espresso(the internal burrs need to be adjusted, the dial on the side isn't good enough). The loud rhythmic thumping it produces when you use the steam wand makes the cats go nuts, which is a plus. Mornings are chaotic and delicious.

Great machine for reasonable price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Breville Barista Express is a manual espresso machine that provides a good shot if you spend the time to dial in the grind and the tamp. The grinder is adjustable and easy to initially calibrate by moving the top burr inside. It comes with 2 sets of baskets, single and double shot both pressurized and non-pressurized. The non-pressurized baskets will render a much better shot, but they require more trial and error to get the grind right. The steam wand is a thermo-block and as such will take a few seconds to warm up before generating steam. The frothing wand is standard and if anything a tad slower than some that I have used which is good if you are just starting out and not quite comfortable getting good foam quickly. For the price this is one of the best units available and the grinder is an added bonus. Pros: Good Quality Espresso (especially non-presure basket) High Capacity Reservoir Built in Grinder High Quality Build Cons: Price (if you are not looking for this level of machine get something cheaper) Not Automatic (you need to fiddle with the grind settings and change based on what coffee you use) Takes up fair amount of counter space

Worth the purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to use, takes some time understanding the steam wand, it takes a few minutes to get the hang of it, it also helps to read the manual. Otherwise, great machine, easy to use and makes a great cup of coffee. For those who like to make espresso-based drinks, this is a great choice.

The Breville BES870XL in Action
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Investing in the Breville Barista BES870XL is like inviting a professional barista into your kitchen—but without the attitude. This espresso machine strikes a rare balance between ease of use and genuine craftsmanship, making it a standout choice for both beginners and coffee enthusiasts looking to elevate their morning routine. The built-in conical burr grinder is a game-changer. It delivers freshly ground coffee on demand, and the adjustable grind size ensures you can tailor your espresso to suit your exact preferences. The grind dial might seem intimidating at first, but it quickly becomes an intuitive tool for fine-tuning your shots. Speaking of shots, the extraction process is where this machine truly shines. The pressure gauge acts like a coach, helping you perfect your tamp and dose for consistently rich crema. For me, the difference was noticeable within just a few tries. There’s a sense of pride that comes with nailing the perfect shot, and the BES870XL makes it feel like an achievable art rather than a frustrating science. The steam wand is equally impressive. It provides ample power to create microfoam for latte art or rich froth for cappuccinos. While mastering the wand takes a bit of practice, the results are more than worth it—silky, café-quality milk every time. If I had to nitpick, cleaning can feel a bit involved, especially with all the removable parts. However, the included cleaning tools and reminders make the process manageable, and it’s a small price to pay for the quality of espresso you’re getting. The Breville BES870XL isn’t just a machine; it’s an experience. It invites you to slow down, experiment, and savor every cup. For anyone serious about coffee, this is less an appliance and more a gateway to an entirely new level of appreciation.

Everything you'd expect from Breville!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not only does this machine look nice, but it is also very nice! I was sceptical with it being so expensive and after reading reviews on other espresso machines breaking down after a few months or people being disappointed with them not making REAL espresso. I decided to go with this machine and have NO regrets whatsoever! I have been able to make mocha and vanilla frappucino's just like you'd get at Starbucks - and it's a LOT easier than I thought with minimal cleanup. All you need is this machine, good medium roast coffee beans, chocolate or vanilla syrup, milk/sweet cream, ice, and a Ninja Bullet or other blender that can FINELY blend ice. Once you load the beans into the hopper, the machine does the rest. You can configure how much it grinds and from there it's a simple tap and it grinds just the right amount to brew. Initially, you might have to tweak this as you go to get it just the way you want it but in a week or two of using it you'll know right where the settings should be for single or double wall filters and single or double shots. The documentation that's included makes this easy to undertand and learn. From there you compress the grinds with the tamper tool and then brew. The pressure gauge helps show you the pressure that is applied to the brew so you can gauge what your espresso will come out like. Again, documentation covers this and there are many Youtube videos out there that'll help you learn. The frother works perfectly and far better than any I've used on cheaper machines. Being that it's stainless steel, it's also easy to clean and keep looking new. Overall, I'd highly recommend this machine to anyone who might be looking at other machines to make good espresso. Once you get it out and use it the first time you'll see why it costs what it does as it's truly built to last and is a high quality machine.

Breville Barista: A coffee shop in your home
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently purchased the Breville Barista Express, and it’s been a total game-changer for my coffee routine. This machine is perfect for anyone who loves high-quality espresso but doesn’t want to rely on coffee shops every day. It has everything you need to make professional-grade coffee at home: a built-in grinder, precise temperature control, and a powerful steam wand for frothing milk. The built-in grinder is fantastic—freshly ground coffee makes such a difference in flavor. Plus, you can adjust the grind size to suit your taste. The brewing process is super customizable, which allows you to perfect your shot exactly how you like it. The steam wand is easy to use and creates a creamy microfoam that’s ideal for lattes and cappuccinos. I’ve even started experimenting with latte art! What surprised me most was how user-friendly the machine is, even for beginners. The setup is straightforward, and the instructions are clear. After just a few tries, I was pulling espresso shots like a pro. The build quality is excellent, with a sleek stainless steel design that looks great on my kitchen counter. It feels sturdy and well-made, so I’m confident it will last for years. The only small downside is that cleaning takes a bit of effort, but that’s to be expected with any espresso machine. Once you get into the habit, it’s not a big deal. Overall, the Breville Barista Express is worth every penny. If you’re serious about coffee and want to elevate your home brewing game, this is the machine to get!

BEST MACHINE EVER!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We decided to purchase this Espresso Maker in December 2017 as a Christmas present for my husband and me. I waited to leave a review since I wanted to get to know the machine, experience various types of coffee beans and various beverages, like lattes, cappuccinos, double espresso, plain coffee, etc. We are now starting September and I feel pretty comfortable to leave an excellent review since this machine has absolutely changed our mornings. It's very easy to use, simple commands, and we always get PERFECT cappuccinos and espressos every time. Make sure to keep the little "quick start and troubleshooting" paper handy in the kitchen since sometimes (depending on the coffee beans) you'll have to make two little adjustments: The grind amount and the grind size. Which is done by simply turning the little wheel right or left (super easy). One thing I had to figure out by myself and it took me about a month (since I didn't know) was how to deal with the noisy frother... which can get very loud but I realized that by simply lifting the wand a bit out of the milk at the beginning of the process (just a tiny bit, until it makes a bubble on the top), that quiets the sounds instantly. I have no complaints about it at all, we love it, our friends love it and I know is expensive but it pays for itself if you stop buying these beverages outside. For cleaning, when the light reminds me, I use aftermarket tablets, which I bought on Amazon for much much less than the original Breville and they work just fine ( I called Breville and they told me that the aftermarket tablets are ok and they won't harm the machine). I've only had to do it twice in 9 months. Overall, EXCELLENT!

For Would Be Baristas
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are looking for a machine that easily produces an excellent latte first time out of the box then look further. There are better alternatives if you don't want to bother learning how to use this machine. On the other hand if you are serious about making excellent coffee and are willing to take the time to learn how to use this machine it will produce espresso and latte drinks that are every bit as good or better that what you can get at a top-end coffee bar. The problem with this machine is that it seems to not make this clear and the instructions are accurate but not helpful. I suggest ChatGPT which can walk you through step by step how to dial-in all of what you have to dial-in to get a perfect product. Once dialed in though it really is quick and easy to do and the built-in grinder saves so much time. The hot water dispenser is great for those Americanos. The tamper holder is a nice touch. So really the perfect feature set. Well thought out. In your journey through understanding expresso you have to distinguish between double walled and single walled filter baskets. Many machines come default with a double wall basket which will always produce a perfect extraction with crema. But it does not taste the same as using the single wall filter with good fresh beans. The crema on this machine using the single walled filter when dialed in is big and rich and much thicker than the double walled "cheater" filter. This only happens when you get the pressure meter to move right to the middle of the expresso range by getting exactly the right grind and tamping pressure. The wand takes practice to get proper micro-foam integrated into the milk but once you get it not hard at all to repeat. My one beef is that the wand is harder to clean than the wider wants on other brands but again once you figure it out you are good to go. So prepare for some initial frustration, some time spent learning to be a Barista and then enjoy and impress your friends.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love it!! My partner & I were spending so much money buying coffee from the store or at local shops so I decided to buy this as I had heard it was great quality for the price. I purchased it because it was on sale for $550 and after watching a few videos to get it right, we are loving it! The espresso is great and my coffee is cleaner and tastier. Definitely recommend- but make sure to test out different settings and ground beans fresh.
