Lacks Consistency

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my Breville BES820XL of 10 years with the newer Barista Express Machine. I'm 6 weeks in and I'm not impressed. My issues are mainly around inconsistencies. For instance, the grind never gives me even close to a consistent amount of coffee. Also, I can never get a double shot from the machine. Sometimes I'll get 1/2 an ounce, other times 1 ounce, but never 2 ounces. I always have to press the double shot twice to get even close to 2 ounces. I've even reprogrammed the double shot to the maximum amount of time it will let me program it to. I've reached out to support, who are very slow to respond and there only comment to me was to check the power in my house. I never had an issue with my old Breville. I will say, I do love the built-in grinder, but I wish it was consistent.

I love the fact that this machine has a hopper so you want have to buy a grinder (to take up more space in your kitchen). I use to be a barista/coffee master at Starbucks and for me to say its amazing is a good thing.

You need to play around with all of the setting depending on the type of bean you select, since all beans are different. I used this for espresso, cappuccino, americano, or just the grinder and it works great. The only thing is that it wastes a bit of water.

Don’t settle for inexpensive alternatives, this is a quality machine, built well. Highly recommended. Lastly, don’t skimp on the coffee, buy premium, high end beans.
