Good machine. No extra features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The machine does exactly what you're looking for no more, no less. Still a bit pricey but much better than some of us equivalent models from other companies

Decent product. Bad lifespan/Customer Service.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As zero stars isn't an option- I'm forced to give 1 star. I purchased the Breville in 2014 for home use- 2 espresso drinkers in the household. Good machine while it lasted. I started to have problems with it in mid-2015. The pressure/extraction wouldn't get into espresso range and then the machine would hum and click but nothing more. I was then able to 'trick' it into proper extraction using manual mode. That bought me some time while I called Breville to inquire as to what they could do. I received and email that suggested a pressure test- which I conducted with obvious results. The machine was faulty. I again contacted Breville by phone and talked to Monica. Without asking any follow up information - she told me that it would be $240 dollars for them to service the machine; nearly half the price of a new unit. I asked her if that was the only option. She then offered to sell me a new unit for $500 - which she claimed was a great deal as I was already a Breville customer. That's true- but I am an unhappy Breville customer. There is a difference in that distinction. I politely asked for any other solutions to this problem and she flatly stated, "There isn't any. You can half us service the unit for $240, or you can buy a new unit for $500." I then asked about local, authorized service centers. She informed me that there are no longer any local locations and that Breville now only has one repair location in the entire country (Illinois I believe is what she said). She then asked which route I'd like to go - repair or a new unit. Horrible. For the $500+ I paid when brand new I expected far better product life and much better customer service. I recognize that espresso machines - due to the boilers and pressure required - will not last forever. I roast coffee for a small roaster so I'm familiar with the industry, machine operation and only ever fed my unit the freshest of beans. There is no excuse for such shoddy quality and short lifespan. I can't emphasize enough how disappointed I am in Breville... Their product- and terrible customer service. I recommend any considering this unit to look elsewhere. Find a De Longhi, Gaggia or Ascaso in your price range and go with it. Avoid Breville at nearly any cost.

Not what they used to be
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Far too expensive for what it is. Cheap plastic body that used to be stainless steel and a nightmare to calibrate. We used to own the older version of this without the integrated grinder and had our separate pro smart grinder perfectly synced with it, then it died after 12+ years of hard work. This integrated grinder is primitive in comparison to the smart pro, so to get this thing calibrated you'll go through a ton of coffee and mess. Easy puck removal doesn't work. Tamping requires eyeballing it to see if its level, which it never is, so you're expected to use the "razor" to scrape of the higher parts, which is messy and extremely wasteful. Absolutely going to return this expensive yet cheap monstrosity. No thought was put into this thing at all and they're clearly cutting costs while charging more. Breville used to be THE go to appliance brand for mid-range value. Trust gone :(

Solid Option
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great machine. I wonder if I should've spent the extra money to get the automatic tamp down but otherwise I'm happy with it.

Home Luxary
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product because I love drinking fancy espressos every morning. It works well, however the steamer is not as powerful as it should be. It is perfect for warming milk but if you are a fan of espresso art the steamer will not work well.

Cheap plastic
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Makes a wonderful espresso but is cheaply made . After rinsing the grinds out of the basket I went to put it back in the “ plastic cradle and one of the arms snapped off. I tried to superglue it, but couldn’t. So now when the coffee is grinding, I have to hold it instead of letting the coffee grounds fall into it. Not sure if there’s a replacement or not.

Great when you are able to get it right maybe once
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this machine from Bestbuy in Wausau wisconsin. I am not sure if the machine was faulty or if i was doing something wrong. I would keep getting very little volume of Esperesso or simply the pressure would not reach 15 bars and would hover around only 5 bars and i would get a few drops of espresso. I tried changing the bean grinding making it more coarse, not packing it tight, i tried everything finally gave up.

Not built to last
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful machine when it works, but ours started losing pressure and developed leaks less than two years after purchase. We replaced an O-ring but the pressure failure occurred further inside the machine, requiring major surgery to get at it. Eventually, we had a catastrophic blowout of steam and hot coffee grinds everywhere. Not good for a machine that was used to produce at most two cups a day, and which comes with only a one-year warranty. We cleaned and maintained ours meticulously with OEM products. It is difficult to find repair shops willing to work on these, too. Many issues are documented on YouTube.

Grinder failed right after warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I thought I was getting a nice machine. I guess when you pay $700 it should be nice. The grinder failed soon after a year and I capled the service center. First they had me disassemble the grinder and vacuum the all remaining grinds then reassemble it just to dump expensive coffee it it to prove it doesn’t work. It was an embarrassing process using the same vacuum I use on my car floor mats. They were kind enough to send me postage and a box to safely ship it in for service. The bill I received made my jaw drop. $6.50 for a seal, $24.00 for a new gringer with handle and $219 for labor. I called them and said keep it. I would rather spend $700 more dollars on a brand that will last and stand behind their product than pay for the service of that crap. I feel molested. It’s a real dirty victim feeling that I just dont need early in the morning as I drink my espresso.
