This thing is amazing. Having our kitchen remodeled and have no appliances. Was able to bake dressing for Thanksgiving. Can use the Combi feature to cook a frozen pot pie in 10 minutes with a perfectly baked crust. The air fry function works great too. Can't wait to try more things in this oven.

This is an amazing addition to my kitchen! We found this gem while using it in a condo an a recent vacation. It toasted a croissant perfectly and I exclaimed - I have to have this! Not that I eat a ton of croissants, but you get what I mean. Doing a light kitchen refurb I decided the over the range ugly Microwave was out. I only use it to melt butter, chocolate and to make Mac & Cheese for the grandkids. The Breville would replace the microwave & Air-fryer I would put away after each use and the Microwave. Not only does it replace those appliances it is a mini-oven! Why heat up the kitchen with your big oven. This does it all. For those with small kitchens, cooking for one or two, RVs, boats, dorm rooms, etc. this oven is amazing!
The few issues I have …. The moisture build up when using the microwave function, the air-fryer function doesn’t crisp quite as great as my traditional air fryer and cleaning it is a little harder than the traditional microwave.

Excellent product, combines convection oven with air fry and microwave. All functions are performed more quickly and efficiently because of the ability to combine cooking functions in each activity. You should know going in that this product does NOT do toast functions.

Love this little unit. I needed the versatility since we moved to a new house with limited space. Though I haven’t yet used the air fry option, the oven and microwave functions are working splendidly, so I have no doubt that air fry will be terrific.

This microwave is great!!! I have made my fries with the air frying feature they come out delicious especially when I don’t have to use any oil. I’ve also made a cake and I can say the oven feature is also great a bit small but it’s good. I would definitely recommend this especially when it replaces 3 appliances.

We have of course microwaved in this Breville as well as Air Fried and Cooked. Awesome machine and so glad we purchased it. A little pricey, but will make you feel better about the price when you start using it. Don't put anything on top when cooking or air frying for an extended period of time because it does get hot to the touch.

We purchased this for more counter space. Ads and pkg put the words Covection Oven first lead most to think it will work just like their convection oven that can broil and toast. The reality is that it's just a very expensive microwave. The first 12 pgs of the manual call it a Microwave with 12 pgs of warnings that we already know about microwaves. No aluminum pizza pans, def no foil or any pans used in your convection/broiler/toaster oven. The convection feature does not work as well as a real convection oven bc it only uses air - its a microwave air oven at best. Messaged Breville before buying specifically asking if we could use alum. pan when we use convection oven settings and they never replied. False ads

THE GOOD
-Combines multiple cooking devices into one, saves counter and storage space
-Lots of worthwhile cooking presets
-Nicely guided interface for presets
-Soft closing door
-Quiet operation
THE BAD
-Somewhat pricey
-The many cooking mode options can be confusing
-Documentation is lacking
-Backlight ( clock ) doesn't stay on
-No kitchen timer feature
-Controls split between front panel and inside door
-Air fryer won't go below 400 F
-External surfaces get hot
THE DETAILS
The Combi Wave's big selling point is its multiple cooking methods. Aside from just cost, a kitchen appliance's versatility compared against how much counter or cupboard space I give up to store it is a big factor for me. A standalone air fryer is a perfect example: I can't justify buying and storing something that large that has such a limited application and can only cook in small batches. But an air-fryer packed into a microwave that can also operate as a convection oven is rather appealing. The question is, does it still function as well as a standalone microwave, air-fryer, and convection oven? Mostly yes, but not completely.
As a microwave, it's, well, a microwave. Instead of an illuminated numeral display and a membrane switch pad you get two knobs, a few hard buttons, and a large orange backlit LCD panel. Some of the control buttons are inside the door frame, making a split control panel, which is odd. I suppose Breville thought putting the less-used buttons there would make the front panel cleaner. The display is great for displaying full menus to navigate the MANY presets for cooking and reheating ( some even mix the multiple cooking modes ). The door uses an interesting quiet close feature, much like an automatic car trunk latch, and actual microwave operation is a few dB softer than my last microwave. The two big feature drawbacks are a lack of a kitchen timer and inability to set the backlight to stay on for a clock mode. Understandably, a large glowing orange panel instead of small green illuminated numbers might be more light than you want at night.
As for the air-fryer and convection modes, they work as advertised but are limited by the unit's size. The Combi Wave is much smaller than a regular convection oven so you can't cook near as much food. It's great for reheating leftovers or baking a small pan of brownies, but you won't want it for a large batch of cookies or a casserole. Also, it's not an air-fryer in a strict sense. Instead of heated air being blown through a mesh basket, the Combi Wave uses a heating element up top with the included fry tray to make a quasi grill with circulated air, though it works well. Unfortunately you can't set the temperature lower than 400 F in air-fryer mode. The active heating elements also means the exterior surfaces get warm. The manual recommends 8 inches of clearance on the top and two sides ( most important on the left side for the air vent ). The manual also does a great job of explaining the different cooking modes and presets available, but isn't great at explaining how best to use them or the included cooking tray and trivet.
All in all, it's a good microwave that includes some nice extra features for the cost that you may not have access to otherwise. While on the pricey side for a microwave itself, it's much cheaper than a dedicated convection oven and much more versatile than a standalone air-fryer. And it doesn't take up any more space in your kitchen than you'd already use for a microwave alone. The cost makes it more a luxury item than a necessity, but it's one you'll appreciate and use quite a bit.

I have had this for a little over a month and it is excellent. I still have to learn all the feature but I have used it as a microwave and an air fryer - in both manual and it’s pre programmed settings. So much more to try. But it’s well made and highly recommended.

When it comes to microwaves of this size. This is the end of the road, the big prize, the One Piece. You won’t need or desire anything else. This is all you will need.
