Tom Hanks stars as the American attorney tasked with negotiating the release of a U-2 spy plane pilot who was shot down over Russia at the height of the Cold War in this historical, period-piece drama. Fantastic movie!

This starts out slow but you get drawn into the events. Donovan (Tom Hanks) was caught in a difficult situation and came out better than most would guess. Excellent portrayal of incidents. Highly recommend this to all.

Just a great story and great film. A terrific capture of the times, events and people involved in the most times very tricky diplomacy of the cold war. Especially correct set in the hub of espionage, Berlin.

My family loves this movie. We love anything that has to do with history, especially American History! This is something we didn't know anything about, so it was a great thing to learn something new.

Tom Hanks delivered another riveting performance. This storyline about American history is as intense as any humanity story ever told. Most of us take for granted the sacrifice that so many Americans. Thank you.

This movie was fantastic. Every frame is filled with detail and it's shot beautifully. Hanks is incredible as always, and the drama unfolds into a thrilling cold war story. Re-watchable and recommended!

This wonderful espionage movie, makes you think about all the things that took place during the Cold War era. I really liked Tom Hanks character and the relationship that he built with the spy he was defending.

I love courtroom dramas and suspense thrillers, and this was the best of both. Tom Hanks was in his best form and was superb at showing the depth of his character. This is a movie I would watch several times.,

True stories told right are the best Hanks is spot on as the unsuspecting pawn of the U. S. government. His acting is so real and easy to identify with. Rylance certainly deserved his Oscar nomination and win.

U2 spy plane and Gary Powers were important debate topics, but his release was unexpected- the spy traded was not as well known. Good acting and scenes of Berlin and the wall. Enjoyed the whole movie!

Great period piece centering on an intriguing mission--the exchange of a Russian Spy (played by Mark Rylance) for an American U2 Pilot. Tom Hanks delivers in another well-directed movie by Steven Spielberg.

Tom Hanks does a wonderful job as the lawyer that has to negotiate the release of a downed American U2 spy plane pilot. I use this in class at the high school to help talk about the event and the Cold War.

Tom Hanks can make any movie work. I really enjoyed the portrayal of these real life events. It is incredible to see what some are willing to risk to do the right thing. Two thumbs up for this one.

I don't think Spielberg has ever produced a bad movie and this one is no exception. It is clear why this is an Oscar winning movie and you should see for yourself why it got the best supporting actor win.

Despite Tom Hanks giving a very good performance, the real scene-stealer in this movie is the Russian spy. This movie is well acted, beautifully filmed, and (unfairly) did not seem to get the recognition it deserved from critics or audiences while in theaters. Definitely worth watching, but maybe not buying.
