Spielberg once again delivers a taut historical drama with an all-star cast, headed by Tom Hanks and Oscar winner Mark Rylance. It's both a period piece and a spy thriller, as Hanks must broker an exchange of political prisoners in the height of the Cold War. The transfer is clean and sharp, with informative and engrossing extra features on the period and on the production itself.

Wanted to see it in the theater and missed it - absolutely spell-binding for a kid who remembers the incident but never knew the details of the story - recently heard Francis Gary Power's son speak - movie was based on facts but did have some "Hollywood embellishments" for theatrics - excellent "Cold War" story !!

Tom Hanks does an outstanding job portraying an insurance lawyer thrust into very challenging post WWII political role of defending an accused Russian spy. Holding strongly to his personal values in the midst of some very challenging situations makes for an excellent film. Well done and worth watching several times.

We missed this movie at the theaters when it came out. The movie is a good representation of what went on at that time. Good spy vs spy. Tom Hanks, as usual, does not disappoint in this movie. Intense at times. It is worth watching again in the future. I would share with a friend to view if they had not seen the movie.

An excellent entry into the Spielberg canon. Not his best or most influential work, but easily his best film since Munich. The performances are top notch and the direction is slick, spellbinding and rich. The music well done as well, even if it seems Thomas Newman was told to do his best John Williams impression.

In Bridge of Spies, Hanks nails it in another Spielberg Masterpiece, true story. Hanks excels in this role. This film is well written, produced, directed and is quite a masterpiece. Great true story. Yes, more than thumbs up.

This is Truly a Great Movie !! It stars Tom Hanks and he can add another Tremendous Movie to his credits. All History lovers will enjoy remembering the events that led to this movie. It recants a time in history that shaped our world today. The acting is Great and the subject matter is timely. Pick up a copy !!

You have to love Tom Hanks and his performances. This is no exception to the quality acting that he performs. The story, itself, will hold your attention from beginning to end, plus, it gives a perspective of self-important government officials and how they can muddle up what could be a simple negotiation.

This movie holds a special place for me because I saw it with my Grandfather. But even without that memory, this is a great movie. Tom Hanks is always great. Mark Rylance is amazing! This is a bit of history that doesn't often get focused on, and it's done so well.

Tom Hanks is great as usual in this real life spy story. The movie gives us an inside look at the craziness that can happen in international dealings over covert operatives hiding in foreign countries. You would never have thought that these things actually occur. Enjoy watching what happens!

Say what you will about him, but Steven Spielberg has produced or directed some of the more patriotic productions of our time. Using chunks of actual historical events and heros, Bridge of Spies falls right in line with the "modern classic" moniker effortlessly. A film worth multiple viewings.

Co-written by the Coen brothers, directed by Spielberg and starring Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance (Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for playing spy Rudolf Abel)...coming in at 141 minutes makes for a gripping historical drama surrounding Francis Gary Powers exchange for KGB spy Rudolf Abel, negotiated by lawyer James Donovan (Hanks).

An absolutely absorbing and enlightening story about the captured-spy swap from back in the 1950s. Beautifully acted, especially by the always-reliable Tom Hanks and Oscar-winner (supporting actor) Mark Rylance, and expertly directed. One of the best movies of its kind I've seen in years.

Mark Rylance certainly deserved the Oscar he won for "Bridge of Spies," but the award given with one hand was a slap in the face with the other in the Academy's failure to nominate Steven Spielberg as best director. The movie is remarkable in it's telling of cold war shenanigans between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. in that it shows the duplicity of both nations' in playing the spy game that put the rest of the world in danger.

The historical background for some of us was very little known up to that point. The direction of spielberg, the cast, hanks, rylance and the rest magnificent. The costume design, the details and stage are noteworthy. The right amount of suspense, realism and historicity.

It's a feel-good Cold War movie, where the complex structure of the plot serves to illuminate the resolve of the characters rather simple further the story. As expansive as the film is the characters are always the story, and why even on repeated viewings you still get caught up in it.

Very slow start. Matter of fact, after about 45 minutes I shut the movie off thinking it wasn't good enough to sit through the whole thing. Though; after reading some reviews to see if others agreed - seeing that many thought opposite, I decide to watch again from the start. I was drawn in and for sure the movie got better and better as it went. I do recommend this movie, just be patient at the beginning.

Takes you back to a period of time when the Cold War was at an all time high. Academy Award winning performances accompanied by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks translates into a really great film that gives us a behind the scenes glimpse at a pivotal period in U.S./Soviet politics.

I finally got a chance to watch this movie it was absolutely fantastic thank you Best Buy and always a great price
