    When I opened the box and lifted this machine onto my counter, I was impressed by how solid and well built this espresso machine is. It has a real professional feel and comes with all the necessary accessories. I have never used an espresso machine before so naturally I was a little intimidated by this imposing machine. The excellent quick start guide made it easy to begin and soon I was familiar with all the basics. The included booklet had step by step instructions on how to create various espresso drinks. The materials used for all accessories are top quality from the frothing pitcher to the filter holder and everything in between. The water tank is removeable and very sloid as well with it’s unique lid. I first made a single shot of espresso. Perfect straight out of the gate. Next a cappuccino for my wife, also perfect. With no experience I was able to make great espresso beverages within the first 30 minutes of plugging it in. If someone like me with no espresso making experience can make perfect espresso beverages, imagine what someone with experience can do. If you love espresso machines, this is a must buy.

    This is a beautiful machine that feels solid and well-designed but operates erratically in my experience. It seems like it is VERY picky about grind size and after going though about $20 worth of coffee in different grinds and about 50 pulls of espresso, I wouldn't say I have had a satisfactory result yet. One problem I know I am having pertains to the temperature of the pressurized water - if you don't purge the line of water between each espresso extraction, there is too much steam with the water to generate a successful shot of espresso. From what I have read online, this appears to be a common thing to do with higher-end home machines but it is quite messy and time-consuming and I'm not sure why a machine can't be designed where purging every time was unnecessary. The instructions are terse and quite unhelpful and seemed written for someone who already has experience as a barista (I do not). The steam wand for steaming milk is actually amazing - I was able to create beautifully textured foam every time I used it. Overall, though, this machine probably needs a companion home grinder that allows you to control the grind precisely - without that added luxury, I believe you're in for a world of frustration like I'm having.

    Pro: 1) Price range of $270. 2) Milk frother is great. Cons: 1) No Crema on the espresso shot at all even after the pressure gauge was on the right reading 2) The pressure gauge needle only goes up if you dry run the espresso shots for about 20+ times ( or until you finish your water tank up). 3) Instructions says that you need to prime the pump up, so it will create enough pressure to create crema on your shot. To prime your pump, you need to run this machine for 20+ times which will take about 30 mins to get a great cup of espresso. Overall, if you know your coffee drink this is not the product.

    Bottom Line: The Brim 19-Bar Expresso Maker is perfect for making cappuccino and lattes at home Pros: compact design; easy to use; multiple filter heads; makes great expresso drinks Cons: steam wand needs to be longer; pump is loud; needs just a bit more clearance between drip tray and bottom of shot head; would have preferred buttons to a dial to change modes Review: I was pleasantly surprised by the compact design. The unit is about the same width and height as our coffee maker and just a little deeper. The machine is solidly built; the stainless steel design looks great and wipes down easily (especially handy for the milk splatter). Initial setup took a bit of time, because you have to purge the three water lines (shot, water, steam) with an entire tank of water. From initial purge to first cup was about 45 minutes. For someone who has never made a latte, the process was a little daunting but the instructions actually helped make it quite simple. The machine comes with four filters that let you choose between pressurized or non-pressurized and single and double shots of expresso. The included measuring scoop and tamp make it fun and easy to create the perfect brick for the shot (tamping is my favorite part). From there, it’s as simple as connecting loading the shot, and then pushing either the single or double shot button. Frothing milk with the steam wand for a latte should be simple enough. There’s a dial on the right side of the machine to turn the steam on, which you use to create micro-bubbles in the milk in the included stainless steel cup. Unfortunately, there must be an art to doing this, because every time my wife and I do it, we make a huge mess. The steam blows the milk out of the cup all over the machine and counter. Comparing the depth of my wand and cup to what I see at Starbucks makes me wonder if the machine’s steam wand should be longer. My other complaints are minor. First, the water pump is pretty loud, and I do not think you could quietly make an expresso without waking at least some people up in the house. Second, the space between the drip tray and top of the unit is pretty tight. A regular coffee cup barely fits under the shot head (must insert and remove at an angle), and both the water line and steam wand must have the cup/pitcher held/placed off of the drip tray. Finally, the dial to switch between water, shot, and steam is on the right side of the unit. I find steaming milk awkward, as I want to hold the pitcher with my right hand (since the steam wand is on the right), but then need to switch hands to turn the steam on and off. A buttonn to switch modes might have been easier for frothing milk than a dial.

    I received this espresso machine used with scratches and missing the cleaning pin. It’s a nice espresso machine, but for the price, it should be new with all the parts in the box!

    I purchased my Brim espresso maker in May of this year ! It stopped working a week ago (early August ) took it to the Geek squad and they are sending me a new one ! Not to happy about the first one breaking in two and a half months ! We will see about this one !

    Literally the second day of owning this machine, and it started smoking and nearly caught on fire. I have no idea what went wrong as usage followed per the manual but it is painfully clear that there is no overheat or temperature safety built in as this thing got so hot it burned just by touch. Absolutely do not recommend, this machine is dangerous and cannot be trusted to function safely.

    I consider this expresso machine the equivalent to a piece of garbage wrapped in a pretty package. Be forewarned if you buy this GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY! Literally 3 weeks after it was considered unreturnable this frother quit working, now we have a pretty paper weight on the kitchen counter.

    coffee is not as good as expected with this expensive machine. I have a Mr Coffee that does a better job. This one has been retired from my kitchen after a couple of uses. I hate it.

    Immediately when i got home and filled it with water it leaked everywhere. Come to find out that the tubes and flow meter inside were broken. Nice for a 400$ coffee maker. Best buy is making the exchange extremely difficult. Not impressed.

    Not only did the gauge not even come to life, but, the phone number provided inside the package and on the web does not work. I might have tried another unit if I did not think the company is going out of business. Looked heavy-duty, disappointed in the failure of the unit.

    The Brim 19-bar Espresso maker is awesome. The coffee you can get from this thing is so good. I'm 37 and have been drinking coffee since I was 13. The espresso this thing puts out is just as good as any coffee shop can make. Takes some time to perfect the techniques and get your process down but it is worth the effort. The build quality and aesthetics are top notch. Set up is easy. Just make sure you follow the quick start guide exactly to get the machine cleaned and primed properly. I also had to adjust the double shot button because it didn't quite put out as much espresso as I wanted. It came in just under 4 oz from the factory. It is easy to change. Simply hold down the button and let go when the level is to your liking. The accessories are super high quality as well and you get everything you need to make single or double espressos. The only downside I have come across is the amount of vibration. Especially after steaming. It is a bit much and it would be nice to see this reduced some how. I made the mistake of putting a freshly brewed espresso on the top warmer while I was steaming. Once I was done the machine started doing something internally and vibrated my espresso off the warmer and spilled everywhere. The cups when dispensing espresso also vibrate and shift a bit but it isn't as bad. Overall, this is a great machine and you will not be disappointed if you pick this one up.

    This machine worked well for about nine months at which point the steam pipe completely failed! I was so disappointed and did not purchase another one. I do not recommend this product.
