We love our Brim espresso maker. After a little practice we have been able to make quality cappuccinos every morning. Easy to use and easy to clean up. Makes good frothed milk.

This is a really solid, high quality espresso maker. I think you will be very happy with the quality and performance of this compared to less expensive espresso machines out there.

Finally a home expresso maker that doesn't move around when you twist the portafilter. I make myself a Latte almost everyday. SUPER easy to navigate other than the mildly confusing sets of filters.

Well, I must admit that when I saw the BRIM Espresso Maker for the first time I felt overwhelmed, because, as a novice I am preparing coffee, but I am for sure an espresso lover, I got used to buying my espresso only at coffee shops. So, at first I felt intimidated. With the nice design, Which make my kitchen looks awesome, the elegant and chrome finish, the pressure gauge at the front, the sturdy and heavy tamper and porta filter, everything was telling me that it seemed complicated to operate, kind of rocket science technology. I was wrong. I has never been easier than ever to prepare a delicious and tastier espresso coffee with the BRIM. I don’t need to return back to any coffee shop again. I think I am little by little mastering the art of being a barista espresso, and now it is one of my hobbies. The BRIM comes with a Quick start Guide, and an instruction manual. If you are a beginner as I was, start with the quick guide, and get familiarized with the unit and its accessories. Believe me, it is easy, it make take some minutes of your time, but if you are a coffee lover as I am, you will see that the time and patient you spent it is worth it. In order to make sure I can get the best result, I bought a Grinder machine that delivers the finest coffee for espresso, but you can also get the espresso grinded from a coffee shop. If you already have a grinder, but are not sure if it is grinded as fine as espresso coffee should be, I would recommend to get the coffee espresso style grinded from a coffee shop, so you can compare and see the difference. To have a coffee grinded as the level of espresso finish, is the key and one of the most important ingredients to get the best espresso. Based on what I learned, below you will see some important tips I recommend to follow closely: - Follow exactly as it is instructed in the Quick start guide, starting by purging your BRIM, the coffee brew, the Steam Wand and the hot water dispenser wand. - You will find a set of 4 filters for the porta filter. One set of two (1 shot and 2 shots), is for the Non-pressurized, and the other set of two is for the pressurized filter. The explanation for the right use of each one you will find on page 14 of the instruction manual, but basically this is what I understood from what I researched: The pressurized filter basket is the one with only one hole on the bottom side, if you have pre-ground coffee from the store, you will probably find the pressurized filter will give you better results. But if you have your own grinder, and you are certain it will deliver the finest grinded coffee for espresso, then you should use the non-pressurized filter. You may need to do some trial and error to get the setting of your grind correct (adjusting for your fine or course your grinder is). However if you can get about 60mls/2oz of espresso extracting in about 25 seconds then you are in the right path. The non-pressurized will give a better cup of coffee, if you can get your grind setting correct. Let’s say in the following way, as I understood, pressurized filters, are for beginners, and non-pressurized are for experienced, either way, I didn’t see a way to go wrong with the Brim Espresso maker. The 19 bar of pressure that BRIM is capable to produce is one of the biggest key to get the espresso quality coffee, taste and aroma. - Making the “crema”: To froth milk, make sure to keep the Stainless Steel Milk frothing Pitcher cold, fill up the pitcher until about 1/3 of the Stainless steel cup, make sure to operate the wand by the silicon handle, because it will be hot, as always follow the instructions on how to operate, it is very simple, and make sure tip of the wand is tight enough. Then with the tip of the wand touching the surface of the milk and the cup placing in an angle position, try to make the steam move the milk in circle until you will feel hot enough (around 160 degree) of the crema reach the double or more of the original amount of milk you pour in the frothing pitcher. The steam produced by BRIM Espresso maker is just right, either temperature and wonderful texture the milk and produce a great froth. - The wand of the left side is for hot water, if you want to make tea for example. - The gauge pressure, will show you if you are using the right coffee and if you have tamper the coffee correctly, and this will take us to the next important point: A good barista, applies about 30 pounds of pressure tampering the coffee ground on the filter basket. Make sure to create a little “mountain” of coffee in the porta filter, and apply enough pressure until you can see the base of the tamper is almost ¾ inside the filter. With practice you will find the right amount of pressure, with the correct grinded espresso coffee. And that is why BRIM provided a heavy tamper, so it make sure to apply the basic pressure you need to tamper the coffee rightly. The top acts as a warming plate to pre-heat your cups. To clean the unit is easy. The espresso grounds turn into a solid block after use. So, just wash the filters under warm water and use the cleaning Pin (stored underneath the water tank) to remove any leftover ground. I have to admit that at the beginning it feels like the instructions were lack of info. But the truth is that I was a totally novice on this matter, so after practicing and reading all the info that was provided, I will say everything you need to know is there, in both booklets. So far I have prepared almost 50 double espresso shots, with the cream, and I don’t think I will ever going to use my old coffee maker, I got hooked with the taste and aroma of the espresso produced by the BRIM machine, and I so pleased and happy, because I feel part of this creativity process. So far I see no issues, but only good things. No more visits to coffee shops!

I needed an upgrade from my delonghi espresso machine which literally just stopped for no reason. I’ve had this for a little over a month and absolutely love it. It pulls shots with great pressure when I use my freshly ground beans. It heats up quickly when turned on and when I need to use the steam or hot water wands. Love it and hopefully it lasts much longer than my previous machine.

These were a deal-of-the day for a good price. I ended up purchasing two - the first was defective and so was the second. Both leaked water. Never was able to get to the point of brewing coffee with either unit. Before the leaks appeared I was able to test two of the features: hot steam and the hot water dispenser. The steam feature sputtered water at first, then when the steam finally started, it was weak and sputtering as well. Pretty sure it would not do a good job foaming milk. Not the constant high pressure steam I was expecting. The hot water dispenser was even more disappointing. It was slow, shooting out small amounts of water at high speed. To prevent splashing hot water everywhere, you have to hold the jug in the air so the spout is deep in the jug. To get a usable amount of hot water you have to hold the jug in the air for a long time since so little hot water comes out. Maybe you'll have better luck than me - two defective units. But If you are thinking it will foam some milk nicely and replace your tea kettle, you'll likely be disappointed.

Unfortunately, we had to return this due to some persistent leaking from the back/bottom of the machine that happened right off the bat on the first run. I think it has to do with the design of the water tank and how it hooks up to the rest of the machine so an exchange would not solve the issue here. I have owned espresso machines in the past and also am a past barista. I was excited for this new purchase as it did seem of high quality material but unfortunately am left disappointed and will be looking into a different brand.
