It was a new movie that my wife wanted to see. We missed it in the theater.

particularly outstanding, but a nice way to spend an evening snuggling

Not bad, but not as great as it is made out to be.

Maybe just not my kind of movie. Movie was well filmed but the whole plot point about her hiding her marriage which is what caused all her problems in Ireland seemed a little silly. Guess the point was that is what happens when you keep secrets.

Not bad, but I have seen better, acting is average, story line is contrite and predictable. Good for small minds to numb the night away and escape from your own depression.

Definitely a chic flick all the way. I bought this for my GF and Mom to watch, I left after a few minutes ...

A FOX Studio opening followed by pans of a “quaint” Irish town of the early 1950’s leads the audience into a beautiful story of a young Irish woman’s emergence and into the light of eventual happiness she finds in America. It’s nice to reacquaint yourself with the clothing styles, cars and even the postage stamps of the early 1950’s period. Eilis(ch)[Saoirse Ronan] is amenable, smart, quick-witted and complaisant, and this sunny story of love is competently directed, beautifully-acted and tastefully accompanied by a gorgeous sound-track that’s perfectly fitted to each scene. The story easily seduces and draws the viewer emotionally into its narrative. Perfectly casted, the films acting performance was extra-ordinary – there is an incredible air of calmness, sincerity and a special wit that’s brought to the screen and the story draws out the character of intimacy in a very meaningful way. The films camera crew and cinematographer made beautiful use of natural and practical lighting which really connects with the viewer. It is a splendid, touching and memorable view that will easily draw you back for more just a 2nd view.

An irish immigrant moves to America during the 1950's to pursue the american dream and falls in love in the process. That's just the beginning of this beautiful, poetic, and moving romantic drama that features a breathtaking, Academy Award nominated performance from Saoirse Ronan that will move you to tears.

This is a really touching story about an immigrant making a life for herself in America and how she deals with homesickness. It's also a novel, which I recommend reading. The music score for the film is also very good.

one of 2015's best films Beautifully shot in Ireland and New York captures the coming of age tale of a girl making her way to America and how her life unfolds. Endearing love story and isn't just a chick flick.

This movie was just plain great. It was an awesome diversion from a lot of the current movies hollywood is cranking out, and I was not disappointed. Have highly recommended it to a lot of friends.

"BROOKLYN" IS ONE OF THE VERY BEST FILMS OF 2015. A TRULY TOUCHING STORY OF A YOUNG IRISH GIRL WHO IMMIGRATES TO NEW YORK CITY IN THE 1950'S. GREAT SET DESIGNS, COSTUMES AND LOCATIONS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Beautiful costumes, excellent production design and great acting make for a wonderful film.
