Customers regard the 12x External USB 3.0 Blu-ray Disc Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive as a fast-working device. However, its bulky size is a common complaint.

I purchased this because my laptop did not have a dick drive. It has worked in all of the test that I did with no flaws.

The blu-ray burner is exceptionally good, and a necessary purchase these days, since laptops no longer come with players or burners. Love the way it works. Completely satisfied with this purchase.

Very pleased with this CD burner. I purchased 2 of them and one had an issue with ripping CD's but returned it and ordered another and it worked perfect. Highly recommend. One of the best I have used over the past 20 years.

I do over 200 DVD's per year and this works great. Much better than the lightweight units that snap on and off the DVD or CD.

But I do not think that it can play ultra 4k blu-rays though. Will need to research but awesome nonetheless

Bought it about a week ago - it arrived on Wednesday. I unpacked it on Thursday and hooked it up to my HP Probook running Windows 10 Professional. The included software was difficult to install as the installer exited with the message "incompatible OS" . I visited the manufacturer's website and sent an email to the tech support address provided. They did respond telling me to respond to the appropriate region where I bought the drive. The software was a suite of programs and I installed them one by one from the CD just fine. The unit worked great. I had it hooked up to a USB3 port but could not say that it was any faster than my old USB2 external drive. I ripped some CD's on Thursday. Shut down the computer. Fired up the computer on Friday and this Buffalo drive was dead. No power. I checked the cord - I had other things plugged into a power strip and they all were still working. I plugged the drive directly into a wall socket - still no power. I will be sending this back. I had high hopes for this drive. I didn't want to buy something cheap and this drive looked like it was well made.

I like the way it plays video’s. I thought it was also a writer and I had to use my old LG to make a cd for my home system.

I got this to use on my laptop, since there's no place to install an internal drive. My PC has an internal drive that also does M-DISC, and I was wishing I had ordered something for the laptop to do those, too. The specs say this drive doesn't support M-DISC, but I tried burning a 25GB Verbatim M-DISC. To my surprise, it worked! It burned it at 4x speed, same as my internal drive. From what I've read, the "DVD" type M-Discs require a drive that supports M-DISCs, and I haven't tried one of those on this yet, so no idea if it will burn one of those. This drive works on Linux (OpenSUSE LEAP 15.0) using K3B.

Great External Optical drive!

I purchased this external optical drive because my gaming pc didn't come with an optical drive or have the room to add anything other than a DVD-R/RW slim drive. So far the drive is working great, it reads discs extremely fast. I've burned several blu-ray discs with it and haven't experienced any issues thus far. Also want to confirm that even though the system requirements only list up to Windows 8, it is fully compatible with Windows 10. I plugged the drive into my USB 3.0 port and it was instantly recognized and installed by Windows 10. Grab one while you can, the options are becoming less and less for Blu-ray optical drives as we further advance into the digital era.

So, So Glad I opted for this Model!!

I had been asking questions of the Blue Geek Squad Folks regarding what Blu-Ray Burner might be best suited for My needs as an average to moderate Multimedia Home based user: most said that the less expensive models, say the LG or Pioneer would do just fine, and so I ordered one.
Oh, Boy! The product was as light as 5-6 blank DVD discs, and felt very flimsy, to the point that I thought they must have shipped Me the wrong unit… But alas, upon returning the lightweight model I paid a bit more for the Buffalo desktop version “BRXL-16U3” and have been quite happy ever since.
I thought it strange that Best Buy does not offer any additional Warranties with this product, but am hoping for the best in the future.
