    more remote than i need

Bought this as a gift for my wife to replace a cheap universal remote and is used on our main living room tv. We do not subscribe to any streaming services, just cable, so this is used primarily as an hdmi switch for cable, blu ray, and a game console. The remote works the first time, every time, even through a cabinet where it sits (my primary reason for the purchase). She loves the voice control and can get help finding the remote through Google Home when my son takes it into other rooms of the house. The only drawback is that a subscription service is required to operate the device.

Thank you so much for the review and we are glad that control center has helped make your TV watching experience better. The service plan is required for many of the features to be enabled like voice searching, the "watch list" features, and interaction with Alexa/Google. If you want to just use control center as a universal remote to manually switch from device to device, then the service plan is not required. Upon initial setup, everyone gets a free 45 day trial period of the service plan and all the enabled features. caavo

I never write reviews but I am making an exception for this product. I admit that I have a tech addiction (do I really need an apple TV, roku and Amazon Fire on every TV I own) but this product is a must have. It really does everything that it claims to do...I could get rid of every remote that I have (goodbye all of my Harmony remotes) and just use this. The user interface and setup is one of the most elegant that I have seen and I had everything running in about 15 minutes. The reason that I didn't give it 4 stars is that I hated the fact that you couldn't finish the setup until you signed up for one of their service plans (even though the cheapest is only $1.99 a month and you can cancel in the first 45 days). I will try the service plan out for a month but will attempt to cancel if I don't think that it adds any value. BTW was a great price on the deal of the day last week, I only wish I had bought a few more at that price...hopefully it will go on sale again.

..worked great once the setup was complete. I have the FiOS box, Nvidia shield and a Wii U connected and so far it plays friendly with all 3. Also like the added voice search, so, so far so good. Software is a little cumbersome and takes a little long to configure but works well, hence the reason for the 4 stars.

The Caavo - 4-port HDMI Switch was the all in one solution I was looking for. After researching various universal remotes with a much higher price tag, I decided to make this purchase. Connected to the Caavo is a LG Smart TV, Bose SoundTouch 300 sound bar and bass module, Apple TV 4K and Amazon Fire Cube and DirecTV genie. The setup and connection to the devices was seamless. The only reason I did not give this product 5 stars is the preference to have a number pad to select the channel I want to view. While you can setup your favorite channels, its more of a user preference. While this product offers a pay as you go subscription or lifetime subscription, my suggestion would be to go with the lifetime subscription. Even with the price of the lifetime subscription this product will cost less than a decent universal remote and will definitely outperform them.

Very underrated product. Designed to be a search aggregator with voice support. Or you can use it as a simple universal remote and multi HDMI switcher that supports HDR. Depending on content it can sometimes get funky or out of wack but I suspect that is the nature of the HDMI handshake beast. I owned this a while before I ended up using it and even paid for lifetime service plan. I use it every day. Also makes the AppleTV bearable because you don't have to use that terrible remote but use the Caavo one :)

OK - so I really do like this box. I am currently controlling my entertainment center with a Harmony Ultimate Home remote and Harmony Hub. Unfortunately sometimes the hub will lose wi-fi connectivity (it is not all it's fault it happens not to be in the greatest location of the house) and at other times it just seems to not be responsive when pushing a remote key. However, it integrates with everything. The Caavo is wonderful that it has a wired ethernet port (listening Logitech?) so I don't have connectivity issues and its responsiveness is exceptional (the HDMI-CEC control does the trick). It was very easy to set up - I have a very simple setup which includes an LG TV, Sony AVR and a Roku Ultra. I also have a Tablo 4 tuner unit for OTA reception (I am a cord cutter) which I access through the Roku. I subscribe to Netflix, Amazon, AcornTV and Hulu. Why I docked the Caavo one star? It really comes down to much potential but it's not all the way there in integrating apps and capabilities wrt its search capabilities. For example, Caavo cannot tell me what is playing on AcornTV in its search capability. It can't access the OTA recordings I have made in Tablo in its search. I hope that as the product matures there will be additional apps supported. Finally, where the Harmony shines above the Caavo is that it is not video driven in its control capabilities. I have a Amazon Echo that I have linked with the Sony AVR via bluetooth. I can easily turn on the Sony AVR and connect it the Echo with a command from the Harmony (or through voice command with the Echo). Since the Caavo is driven solely by HDMI input I cannot see how it supports this type of operation. However, I really do love the responsiveness and the simplicity of the Caavo remote. I am hopeful that the app support in searching expands (afterall we are paying Caavo for being able to search) and that there is some thought given to non-video entertainment control. Much potential, almost there.

Owned it for 1 week. Deal was too good to pass up. I’ve got a Marantz AVR, Sony 900E, XBox One X, Fire TV and DirecTV box connected to this. My goal was to replace the Harmony remote that confuses my wife and kids. So far, it is working good. Caavo will switch between components just fine with no hiccup. It even helped to speed up the horribly slow navigation of my DTV box. Kids are getting the hang of it, by talking into the built in remote mic to ‘Watch TV’ or ‘Watch XBox’ or etc. I would give it 4 stars, but it seems to lose connectivity or become unresponsive every few days. Also, today I realized that it is not passing DTS audio from a source. Bottom- line: I’m impressed...very. I have literally moved all of my remotes into a drawer, and have only grabbed my Sony TV remote to use the Smart Apps - as Caavo does not yet recognize Smart TV apps. Good concept, hope they continue to add functionality. Frankly, they better as the subscription fee for their service to use this device is $20/year or $50/lifetime. I’m paying!...therefore fix it and make my experience better.

Great Concept And For The Most Part Works

For the Most Part this Smart, Voice Controlled, switchbox works great, and kicks Logitech Harmony to the curb. The exceptions are: 1. Still buggy, sometimes doesn’t respond correctly, and sometimes have to do a power reboot, just to get it “unstuck”; 2. List of recognized Devices is lacking. Doesn’t even support Pioneer Brand Receivers, for God Sake; 3. Their new marketing reduced the price from over $100 to $59.99 but charges you a whopping $4 a month to use the Smart voice control features. Problem is, this is a new Company with a new product. If the product doesn’t fly and the Company folds, you are stuck with a useless $60 box. I would rather pay more money for a self contained box with features and not be stuck with a cloud subscription, that relays on the Company’s Success, to make it work. I think this marketing strategy was stupid, I’ll conceived, and will kill potential sales.

Caavo works great. I connected 4 inputs (DirecTV, AppleTV, Firestick and a BluRay Player) and sync'd it to Alexa all in just under an hour. Caavo's voice remote works great and using Caavo through Alexa works well for basic functions such as turning things on and off but more advanced commands such as different types of searches are easier using the Caavo remote. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars for 2 reasons: 1) It does require a subscription fee (although $60 for lifetime service isn't too crazy considering the unit was only $50). 2) It is not backwards compatible with older versions of AppleTV. I have a 2nd generation AppleTV and Caavo is not able to search my AppleTV. The Caavo remote functions such as play, fast forward, etc... work once a program is selected on the AppleTV, but it is not able to search the device for programming, including purchased shows on the AppleTV. All in all it is a good enough value that I purchased a second one.

We are glad you're enjoying your control centers. The older AppleTVs do not have a way to download our caavo companion app which allows control center to communicate to the apps within the device. Gen 4 and newer AppleTVs are advanced enough to download our app allowing deep communication. caavo

I’ve been trying for years to find an easy to install, intuitive configuration device and reliable commands and thought I had finally found one: the Caavo Control Center!! I installed the caavo relatively quickly and had it working flawlessly for a couple weeks until the first firmware was applied to the system and that was the last time the system worked well. I’ve been experiencing slow responses to commands and incorrect responses by the system. I contacted the company tech support and the suggestion was to reprogram the system which was a tedious process and in the end, the issue was not resolved. The support team was responsive but unable to address the issue. My hope is that the next firmware update will fix the issue. I would’ve given this product a 5-star rating but its unreliable behavior post upgrade is rather concerning.

I purchased this to add more 4K HDR HDMI ports to my LG OLED TV, and it works great so far. I have my Xfinity cable box plugged into Xbox and Xbox plugged into TV along with sound bar. The Control Center is plugged in to TV also now and I plugged in my Apple TV 4K, Roku Ultra, and Nintendo Switch into it. Now I have 2 extra ports remaining on TV for PC and another gaming console in future. It responds fast and switches automatically to whichever device I turn on. I tried some of the TV / Movie guide search functions, and they work ... but I mostly plan to use it as a switch. It looks nice in person, and the remote is good also. The hardware is not cheap looking like many of the ones I saw for less, and the software is clean and simple to use. Highly recommend it if need more ports!

Purchased this for a home theater with several devices to connect. After some research, this seemed to be the easiest as some of the “remotes” were more complicated. Largely, this has done everything promised. It is easy to connect devices, which it automatically recognizes and walks you through easy set up on your own tv while doing it. The only drawback is the subscription service which is very low, but still represents a cost that other options do not have. I wouldn’t change my mind, but something everyone needs to factor into their decision.

I do have a few gripes though. 1. Caavo account setup required credit card even though I purchased a box with lifetime membership. Almost returned because of this. 2. Remote needs a rethink design wise. Volume up/down and channel up/down should be above and below each other respectively (like most other remotes). Glossy not good. Button that brings up keypad should be short press for keypad/long press to bring up button programming menu (keypad is used way more often). Need 3 more blank programmable buttons cause TiVo UI is ridiculous. I like the flat bottom but what is with the enormous bumper thingy. 3. Cable selection during setup needs updated. 4 companies comprise 80% of cable subscribers mine is 5th on list yet I had only one choice that really isn't technically accurate (seems to work but it really should have been easier to discern the correct one). 4. I would like to see a menu option that allows me to select which apps Caavo searches. I don't need it searching Netflix or Hulu if I don't subscribe to them. 5. I would also like a menu option that allows me to select whether or not to show rent or buy items in the search results. Kids can't read and I already pay enough. 6. Need more searchable apps, preferably free ones. Apps such as Sony Crackle, IMBD, Pluto TV, and others that offer free movies rather than a subscription or service based app. 7. Eliminate "Top Results" in the search feature as it is redundant. Now you might think that with a list like this that I don't enjoy Caavo. You'd be wrong. Think of it more as a wish list. Right now it is more a 6 cylinder Mustang but we all know we want the Shelby.

Got this on sale, definitely not worth the full price. You need an additional subscription for some features — which are not worth it... Plays well with Sonos. Didn’t really work with my older generation Fire TV Stick from 2018 but works with Fire TV Stick 4K 2019. Good if you want a universal remote and especially if you have more devices than your TV’s HDMI outputs. Their HDMI cables are outrageously expensive. Good support documentation online.

I have a Tivo, NVidia Shield, Blu-Ray player, and an Amazon FireTV, my TV only have 3 HDMI inputs, been using a HDMI switcher, Caavo eliminate that, voice control is a plus. Reason for only 4 stars is I set NetFlix to come on via NVidia Shield, but somehow Caavo insists on showing it via FireTV instead. Reassigned it 3 times, still no luck. Also, several times when I tried to turn system to Shield, no sound, no pic even though Shield is on, had to reboot Caavo unit.

Really wanted this to be the end all be all for universal remotes. Used all the Logitech remotes and hated them. Difficult setup, issues with them not working all the time. This makes it's easier to switch between devices but still not that full hub to allow you to access all your devices with complete ease. Have had numerous times where I have had to restart the device the next morning. TiVo causes some type of HDMI crash

I bought this unit knowing that I'd be using it solely as a HDMI switch and a basic universal remote. The subscription platform is bloated and overpriced; with the smart features available in most TVs and all TV devices, I didn't need another service making content suggestions. Now, as a HDMI switcher with HDR capability and a sweet little remote that works in a pinch with most of my devices, it's worth the $60.
