Apparently, this is not covered under their warranty and GE recommended I contact the store. I understand Best Buy has an exchange window but I truly believe this is unacceptable for a $300+ coffee maker.

Safety concern and cheap quality

The brass rose metallic coating on the handle started pealing off. In handling, flakes of this coating fell into the carafe. This is also pretty dangerous because in handling, its possible to get a flake on your hand and then you rub your eye. Its just bad all around. I do believe there is a safety concern with this product.

Great cups of coffee with style!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Summary: I am not usually a fan of brushed metal / copper, but this thing looks amazing in any room! The build quality is outstanding and the coffee it brews sets the standard. Unboxing: The experience is premium with a box that folds open. Inside you will find the coffee maker, a scoop, a metal filter and a few sample paper filters, and instructions. Setup: Overall easy unless you want to connect to Wi-Fi. Set up of the machine is not much different than any drip coffee maker. Clean the device, put in the water filter, set the clock and any brew setting you want (temp, strength), and you are ready to go. Where I ran into issues is the Wi-Fi setup which is not a good user experience. You will need to download the "SmartHQ" app which is meant to control a multitude of appliances. The app will require you connect to wifi on the device, type in the password then you will search for your home wifi. It just didnt work for me for about 30 minutes and then magically started working. You don't gain many features via wifi other than the ability to use your phone to set up "auto brew" times but this is almost as quick to do on the device itself. I wouldn't buy this just for the wifi feature. Coffee: Yum! It has four strength settings three of them you can adjust temperature but one, the "gold" setting just makes an outstanding cup with no additional settings required. I tested it with Starbucks Breakfast blend and the coffee came out naturally sweet and at a perfect temperature. You have a large range of temperature settings in the other modes. The reservoir has enough to make many cups of coffee but keep a mind, a cup is defined at about 4oz on this device, not the common US 8oz so you might need to adjust your serving sizes. Use: Cleaning is easy, just swap out a filter or clean the grate, clean the pot and wipe down the machine. All materials are high quality and I found very little dripping once it is done. Keep in mind this uses water filters so that will require replacement in time. I prefer the taste of the coffee that comes out of paper filters but they are not required and can lower long term costs if you use the paper grates. I only took a star away due to the finicky wifi feather, otherwise, this is a near perfect brewer!

We barely even use the machine. Just keep getting “err” message when trying to brew, even though the carafe is in the correct place.

Wifi Doesnt Work

Great purchase!

I love the wifi feature and the options for different cups to brew. One lesson I had to learn is it doesn't work well with paper coffee filters. The manual says it works with either #4 or basket but that was not the case for me. I select the BOLD brew and if you like dark coffee you'll love this option.

Our apologies that you experienced issues with the temperature of the coffee and we can certainly understand why you’d like some clarification on that. -- It is important to note that there is no heater or warming plate under the thermal carafe, so once the coffee is brewed, it will slowly lose heat. The coffee stays hot due to the vacuum seal thermal carafe. The thermal carafe retains the heat of the coffee for a minimum of 1 hour after brewing. To help keep the coffee hot, it is a good idea to “warm the pot” and put hot water inside the carafe to pre-heat it. After a few minutes, dump the water from the carafe and then start brewing coffee. -- You can also learn more by checking out the “Temperature” section on page 9 of your manual. Your manual can be found in the “Overview” section on the Best Buy product page. -- We hope this is informative and please feel free to reach out anytime if there is anything we can assist with. WAY overpriced.

TERRIBLE

It’s not black

Rather it’s more of a charcoal grey. The color doesn’t affect the coffee, but if you’re gonna spend a grip on a coffee maker it should look as they market it.

Beautiful on the outside…but subpar

It looks really high class but that’s about it. To start, it’s hard to navigate between everything since there are only 3 buttons and the instructions don’t walk you through it. The water basin is stationary… this makes it impossible to clean and get any excess water out. There is no feature to make the carafe stay warm. I think it’ll stay heated for 2 hours, so if you’re one who drinks coffee throughout the day, this isn’t for you. Also noticed that the inside where the filter is doesn’t dry… I made coffee one morning and when I went to make it again the next morning there were water droplets soaking the inside. Just buy something else

It stops working i hope best buy will have some digression on this. Its good looking but doesn't keep coffee hot long at all. But i managed until it just completely died on me . Fancy Fail!

Coffee has never gotten very hot. We have made coffee according to instructions, descaled it, used a filter, and this fancy lady is a fail!

You could try adjusting your brew strength to see if this helps with a more richer flavor from your coffee. If you don't have a preference, try using the Gold setting first, which provides the highest quality brew. - To set the strength, you can follow these steps: 1. Push the Strength button. The strength options and Strength button will light up. The Strength options are Gold, Light, Medium, and Bold. 2. Rotate the Brew/Select knob to select the strength and push to select, or push the Strength button to confirm your selection. The outer ring of the Brew/Select knob will light up to confirm your selection when the knob or button is pushed. We hope that this helps!
