The grip is solid but the battery tray seems a little cheap...

Externally the grip looks very much like the BG-11 grip (i.e., the grip for the Canon 5diii body) but the battery tray is cheaper and the overall quality doesn't seem as good... And at $350 this grip is EXPENSIVE, too -- much more than the better designed BG-11. On the other hand, the grip serves its purpose, however, and up to now it has not fallen apart, though time will tell if my concern about the quality degradation is justified...

Past battery grips were better. The battery case on this one is really thin plastic and the batteries fit strangely inside.

It comes with the Mark IV as a part of your shopping opportunity but not that useful in my case

I can’t stand the way this model is made. The one that fit the 7D was 100% better. You have to completely take out the battery holder on the side to remove the batteries. The battery holder is very cheaply made. Very disappointed.

The Canon BG-E20 Battery Grip is very nicely built, matching the camera's build quality. I feel much less fatigue in my arms and shoulders when using the battery grip for even moderately long shoots.
