I actually purchased this 5D mark 3 as my second 5D Mark 3 backup! I'm a wedding and portrait photographer and there are many things about this camera that makes it great! Being a full frame camera, you're able to get super clean images in low light situations. Any working professional or enthusiast who does weddings or portraits will love this camera. www.andrewdophoto.com Pros: Dual card slots for instant backup of your images Advanced auto focus system Built quality Bright viewfinder Clean images at high ISO Cons: Camera came out in 2012 (but it still performs like a champ today! Otherwise I wouldn't of purchased a second one for my business)

I buy canon because of the great quality and service. 90% of the time when I call service just for info. I get friendly American voices. this camera is a not exactly a starter camera. it is for the more experienced photographer or hobbyist. great camera all around. great at the higher iso up to around 5000 the noise is tolerable. not as fast shooting for sports but will do.

I bought this camera about a month ago and have been extremely happy with it. I also purchased the Canon - EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM Telephoto Zoom Lens as well. The only downside to the camera is it's weight paired with the lens. Picture quality is top notch.

I'm a wedding and portrait photographer, and I use this camera body 100% of the time. This is my 2nd Mark III, and they are both excellent cameras.

I have a big following on Instagram at 356k followers as TonyDetroit. I would use nothing but the best. That is Canon. The 5D Mark III lives up to the hype. I would not recommend anything else.

I wanted to advance to a full-frame DSLR from my first DSLR the Canon Rebel SL1 which I still love and use a great deal. I drove over to the only BB store that had this camera in stock after work in a mini-blizzard, that's how bad I wanted to make sure I had it in my hands before someone else bought it. The shots you will get from the camera are amazing, it is a little heavy but you just deal with that because it's worth it.

Upgraded from my 5D Mk II to the Mk III and it was worth the money. I thought of maybe going with the 6D which is about about half of the price, but the advanced AF system made me go all in. Shooting dark wedding receptions made it tough on my MK II so the 61 AF points was the my main deciding factor. The sturdier build and the built in PC Sync port were also things that made me choose it over the 6D as well. The option for a silent shutter was a nice touch too.

Outstanding upgrade from the 5D Mark II

The 5D Mark III is evolutionary more than revolutionary. The biggest upgrade is with the autofocus system. Canon upgraded the 1 cross-type center AF point to a 61 point array which contains 41 cross-type points. Now the AF system is comparable to Canon's professional 1D series. High ISO noise is improved significantly. While the luminance noise has only been improved by approximately 1 stop when evaluating the raw files. the color noise has been improved greatly. As a result, one can apply noise reduction yet maintain fine details. ISO 6400 is the maximum I would use on the Mark II. With the Mark III, ISO 12800 is very usable and 25,600 if properly exposed. The high ISO capabilities is now on par with the Nikon D3s! This is a solid upgrade with fantastic image quality. The only screw up is canon changed how one zooms in and evaluates pictures on the camera. It is not intuitive and usability is decreased from other canon bodies.

I upgraded to the 5D Mark III about a month ago. I spent a year shooting with a Canon T3i. For my review I'll focus on my experience of going from my entry level camera to the more professional Mark III. I mostly shoot in low light and shoot in bursts of 5-10 shots. So the most important changes for me were the sensor and speed of writing to my memory cards. The sensor is amazing! I can confidently shoot in low light at 6400 ISO. On the T3i i started getting noise at 3200 and by 6400 it was really visible. On the Mark III this is not an issue. I did some shooting at 8000 ISO and the noise was still pretty low at that level. The other most important change is changing to a faster body and writing to compact flash. With the T3i I could wait up to 30 seconds for a series of shots to write to the SD card. With the Mark III I can shoot as fast as i want and the images are written to the compact flash card in a couple of seconds. The major benefit of this is that i'm not stuck with a flashing 'busy' as I wait and miss shooting opportunities. This is the camera for shooting fast in low light. Another nice feature is the silent shooting mode. It's not silent, but it is definitely a softer and quieter sound. It's also very well made. You can feel the quality. The small back lit screen is nice to see your settings in the dark without blinding yourself with the large LCD. If i had to pick some negatives, I would only really mention the weight and large number of features. It's pretty heavy. Doesn't really bother me, but I'm sure some might find it a bit cumbersome. Or if you have small hands, it might cause some issues. But try it out in the store, see how you like it. As for features, there are a ton! This isn't really a negative, except that you need to expect quite a bit of time to learn them all.

This is my 2nd Canon 5D MK III. Now both my 2nd shooter and I are using 5D MK III's and have a 5D MK II as a backup. The 61pt autofocus is probably one the best improvements over the 5D MK II's 12pt focusing system. Better high ISO performance than the MKII, and more FPS. I'm looking forward to see what the 5D MK IV will have to offer.

My Main reason for purchasing this Mark III was the 61 focal points that they added to this camera . It has a wide variety of focal point settings depending what you are shooting which in the menu itself is pretty detailed even if you were unsure of yourself . They also added a push and turn type of lock on the photo style selector wheel on top . Where if you wear a after market shoulder sling / strap you would find your camera on a different shooting style because of the camera hanging on your side and the mode changing while you were walking . They added some Automatic HDR Features with many settings so you are not limited to the default setting like before .You can produce a wider range in AEB from -3 to +3 . It will even process the images in a finalized Jpeg if you choose to do so . There is a new selector for Pictures and Video on the body which makes from switching from one to another very easy. There is also a new silent mode for the shutter , Which is extremely quiet . I have been out using it as much as I can , I shoot mostly Landscapes , Automotive events and HDR . I haven't yet begun to use all the features this camera has . I am extremely happy with it and would recommend any one who was thinking about it to go ahead and get it , You won't be upset . Its a totally different camera with huge improvements , I love it .

I did a ton of research on my next camera, weighing features and price. Talking with other users that use a camera both professionally and as a hobby, I decided on this because of the focusing upgrade and larger screen. I shoot wedding, portraits and some commercial product. This camera has performed even better than I thought it would. Image quality is amazing and photo editing seems much easier with these large raw files. What was important to me was the feel of the camera, awesome tactile feel, non-slip, being able to customize setting, menus that make sence, low noise at high iso.

I am crunched on time. That being said, the 5D Mark III is the gun I needed. My favorite shoots are low light action. My main lens is a Tamron 24-70 2.8. With this combination I can shoot at max ISO and hardly any noise is present. Although, I upgraded from a Canon 50D. I know, BIG step... But, the pros give it 5 stars as well.

I debated for a long time before upgrading from my 7D. I love this camera. I will not tell you that it is a dramatic change but I was ready. If you are shooting for sports primarily, I would stick with the 7D. If you are making art, or taking portraits, or shooting in low light, this is the camera for you. Like anything, there is a bit of a learning curve. I'm still learning the features myself but I couldn't be happier. See examples at www.flickr.com/krwatsonphotography

There are many reviews online already so I will keep this short. I've been using 60d for the past 4 years and this is a big upgrade for me. I love the full frame and the ability to set a lot higher iso in a low lighting situation. I do miss the articulated LCD screen. Is it worth the money? I'd say it depends on how you use it. If you're getting paid shooting pictures or video then go for it. If you're just shooting pictures for fun then you don't want to spend over 2 grands for this camera.
