I'm happy with my camera, can't complain, but I wish I could trade all my gear in for Nikon, I've come to learn Nikon is better in Low Light situations and for me that is where I needed most for doing night photography ... oh well can't have it all with Canon

Anyone upgrading from a Cannon would be pleased with the ability of the Mark III. It will, however, take some time to comprehend the settings and programming this camera is capable of. Once this has been achieved you will be very pleased with results.

If this is your first time with an advanced camera it can feel a bit overwhelming at first but do your research and you'll be fine. The camera is, of course, top notch for the price. Everywhere you look you'll see great reviews.

I have been looking to use this camera for some time now, especially since I am getting more work in portraiture and headshots, and so far it has lived up to its rating!!

This is the best bang for buck camera out right now as of 3/16/2017. Its perfect for shooting everything. The camera only being 20mp is awesome because it takes less of a workhouse computer to handle the files.

Way overpriced, but you do get what you pay for. For those of you who are turned off by the price, it is a full frame 35 mm DSLR, not a partial frame like most of the rest of the cameras out there. There are cheaper cameras that uses a smaller sensor but they cause everything to appear farther away and you have to buy very low mm range lenses to do close up shots. USM lenses will work, but the L series gives you the sharpest images. I recommend getting a 50 mm f 1.4 or 1.8 (a real bargain), and a 24-105 mm f 4 L IS or a 24-70 f2.8 L, and the 70-200 f2.8 L IS. Finally I can use my f4 L lenses to shoot indoors in low light without using a flash! Shooting at an ISO below 30,000 seems to be noise free, above that you start getting noise in the dark parts but that is easily taken out. Was shooting pictures in pre-dawn light that look like they were lit by the sun. Picture quality is outstanding. I haven’t analyzed the noise spectrum but so far the level of detail is impressive. Below 25000 ISO the images look noise free and above the noise is controllable. The controls and functions have completely moved around and new ones have been added. The menu structure has also changed which makes it harder to find the different settings. A good deal of the settings can be mapped to different buttons and you can now map three custom configurations directly to the mode button so you don’t have to set them up every time you shoot. Manual is a must read through before using the camera to see the new settings and features. Movies are very good but it does not auto-focus. Camera is heavy which makes for good photos, but is hard to hold steady for any length of time. I found myself constantly adjusting the focus to keep moving objects in focus. If I had used a larger aperture would have helped with this. For rapidly moving objects drop down to 1280x720 60p mode to reduce artifacts. I’m still reading the manual to find out what the lowest ISO you can use in movie mode but I think it’s 12800. That is good enough where you can take movies at very low light levels with acceptable amounts of noise. I shot a movie in pre-dawn light as a test and it was very good and looked like it was lit by the sun, but there was noise in the dark sections and a little chromatic aberration at the edges. Still I was impressed I could do it at all. This won’t replace a dedicated HD camcorder, but it still takes impressive video and great still images. To get the best of movie recording use fast SD or CF cards and low level format them on the camera. Use the camera with a monopod or tripod for best results.

This was an upgrade from a Canon 40D, and has been a great camera so far. I am very pleased with the light sensitivity at high ISO settings, and can shoot in dark situations without a lot of noise.
