Where to begin? The body is gripped and set-up for user friendly shooting. Non-slip grip and really accessible for right hand control of almost all necessary shooting features. Quick shift of focus points is at your index and thumb and don't require several up and downs away from your subject. The amazing clarity at high ISO and availability to expand images to wall size banners due to the near 24mp is great. I love the 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM. It is incredibly stable in low light and at the full 105mm. My next glass is the 26-300mm same class, and can't wait. Don't shop around between makes. Buy the Canon. Loved the Mark II, but in love with the Mark III.

First off, this is not a camera, this is a monster. For the longest time I was shooting with a combination of a Rebel t2i and 7D, and I was quite happy with their performance. This piece of equipment is simply on another level. I had been debating between the D800 and this for a very long time and decided to go with canon mainly for the high ISO performance I has been reading about. I absolutely love shooting in low light, so the first thin I did when I opened the box was enable the H2 ISO setting and shoot a few images. I kid you not, this camera looks better at ISO 102,500 than my 7D does at ISO 6,400. I threw the raw images into ACR 6.7 and applied some noise reduction, and the results are simply amazing. Even completely untouched, the detail that is retained at that high ISO is just outstanding. I would easily feel comfortable shooting some events at ISO 25,000. Maybe not weddings only because of the slight loss of detail when the noise luminance is adjusted, but then again I'm a fan of a little film grain so I would definitely experiment with it. Everything on this camera is placed where it feels just right as well, it literally slips right into your hands and is extremely comfortable to hold. It does not, however, feel as solid as the 5Dmk2, but that's something I can over look. One thing that I've never liked this style of dial though. It locks in place and you need to push the top button in order to turn it. Then again, it's just a pet peeve of mine. The image quality is just outstanding as well. I'll be honest, if you're a pixel peeper you will find that the D800 is going to be slightly sharper, but unless you are blowing your images up to the size of a wall or cropping extremely small portions of your picture, I doubt you'll ever notice a difference. In my opinion the ISO performance makes up for that plus more. My only complaint is that Canon still decided to use the H.264 compression factor for this camera in video mode. I would really, really enjoy having an AVCHD codec, or being able to record straight to ProRes, but then again, you can only ask for so much from one machine. All in all, this camera is amazing. I could not be more happy with my purchase, and I intend to use it for years to come. Hope this helps!

I've been saving for this camera for months and I am so happy to finally have it! It takes beautiful photos and I love the lens that came with it. I have a few others and they are all great! (50mm and 85mm) If you're looking for a professional camera, this is it!

Well, this is just the best DSLR camera ever made so far... No comparison. Even with the more expensive cameras from Canon, 5D lll RULES... no comparison... The only tip I would leave here for canon is to make the next model with XLR sound input ... That would make it so easier... :) Bless u all...

The 5D Mark III is a hulk of a camera. I've owned a 30D, 50D, and 60D prior to this model. This camera body proves vastly superior to those previous models and gives an experience that I believe all passionate photographers hope for. It performs incredibly well in low-light situations.
