Best Crop size camera out that Canon offers. I own the Canon SL1 which is a great camera, however switching lenses for wedding shoots or capturing moments on the fly is nerve wrecking. So I decided to get another camera. After researching I found the 80D to have superior video qualities than alot of the other choices, dozens of focusing point to select and many other options. The 80D is just wonderful and excellent camera body to have. I have recorded video and its stunning. The megapixel increase above Canon SL1 and Rebel is obvious when looking at pics. For photos I used the 24mm f/1.4L USM Wide angle and 100mm f/2.8L macro IS USM . Excellent photos. Antiflickering in the body is nice for photos. Slight increase in the creamery of boekh (blurring background). For Videos I use Canon - EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM , this is by far the best lens I have ever used for videos. STM and USM is technogy that suppose to limit the noise and help with faster autofocus. I many lenses with this this technology and the lenses still make noise. This lens make no noise. Meaning you hear no focusing noise in video playback. If you dont have this lens i suggest you get 1. Video features in the 80 D are wonderful.

    Canon 80D Takes Spectacular Photos!!

Purchased body only to use with existing lens. Wow... the 80D takes spectacular photos!! I photograph birds, mainly hummingbirds as a hobby. Traded up from a EOS T5 body. Using my 75-300 IS USM lens... what a difference in picture quality at a distance!! Easy to learn, handle, use, slight learning curve but after an afternoon shooting got the basics down. Very happy with Canon quality and very, very happy with Best Buy service. I had purchased a 70D last month and used it only a couple days when I read about the newer 80D version. Thankfully I had all packaging and Best Buy was easy to work with on the return and subsequent pre-order of the 80-D. It shipped to my door and I was using it the second the battery charged! Love it!!

Some nice updates to a real workhorse prosumer DSLR. I’m doing real estate photography and wanted to upgrade my EOS 40D (which still is used daily by the way!) I love that I can set up everything and compose the shot using live view through my iPad Pro. Auto bracketing for HDR is really nice too. I was at first really torn between the 80D and the 5D for a couple hundred more. I really wanted to have the full frame sensor, and I have several EF lenses, but the specs were just so much better on the 80 that I ended up going with it instead. If you’re looking for a new camera, or want to upgrade your Rebel and already have a crop sensor (EF-S) lens, you won’t be disappointed!

I upgraded from a Canon SL1 to an 80D and I must say this was a great purchase! The reason why I wanted upgrade badly was: -I wanted a shutter speed that can go up to 1/8000 -100% coverage in the viewfinder rather than the 95% I had. The view finder is also brighter and clearer due to the pentaprism. -More manual controls. I wanted something that felt closer to what the professionals use without breaking the bank. This camera is really built well, and can really deliver image quality. I know a lot of people will be purchasing this camera for video rather than for stills. I do not do videos, but from what I have seen in other review that this is definitely a great upgrade from the 70D.

I purchased this camera as an upgrade to my Canon 60D. I've been very pleased with the image quality, especially in low light. I chose this camera, after reading reviews from people that shoot similar settings. I am predominately an action photographer (HS & Junior High football/Volleyball/Basketball... Etc..) The low light issues in gyms, as well as outdoor night games is a challenge. This camera provides the speed (Fps) to keep up with the action, as well as limiting the noise in my shots. Since it's a crop sensor, my lens can reach out farther, & the Fps is faster.. If I were predominately a "Portrait" photographer, I would entertain a full sensor camera.

Everyone loves this camera and I am still on the fence for the price. Pros: it is fast, shutter speed is really great, little lag, in sun picture quality is excellent, video is fantastic Cons: I still feel some issues with quality with low shutter speed on auto settings and some manual. I am pretty savvy and have a film degree so not stupid to cameras. Pretty well versed. Still figuring this out, but most shots are worth it. YOu need a great lens with this, i use the 55-250mm cannon most of the time. Overall great camera, upgraded from T2i and previous 20D. But the $1199 felt like a little much for what i got. $999 would have felt more worth it. I have to return it though as too many times with the battery in the camera would just freeze. I would turn off and it still would be frozen on, until I took the camera battery out. Annoying and happened right out of the box. For $1199 not acceptable. Got warranty and will repair.

I was so torn between a full frame DSLR, the 7D and the 80D. After looking at reviews, I decided that this was the best all around camera for the money. I'd say it's geared more towards video, but the 24mp sensor is still giving you great quality pics. If you're looking to upgrade to a mid-tier DSLR I'd definitely go with the 80D. It's a great camera for Vlogging or just taking video in general. My favorite video feature is the touch display focus. You can touch any part of the display and the camera will focus on that section. Another great thing I love about this camera is the WiFi capability. I use this a lot, coupled with the Lightroom and Canon apps on my iPhone. This allows me to edit photos on the fly and upload them to social media or whatever platform I need. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase. It'll be my main body until I'm ready to move up to a Full Frame.

I primarily shoot street photography but had an increasing need for a solid camera to do video work. This camera achieves that and so much more! I have coupled it with the versatile L series 24-105mm lens. After years of using my iPhone and borrowing other friends DSLRs, I decided to make the leap and purchase a camera of my own. I have not been disappointed. Low light sensitivity is great and comparable to my experiences with the 7D. Functionality is fast and intuitive. I love the touch screen, tap to focus is incredibly useful especially when shooting video in a crowded setting. While the crop sensor may not be ideal for future photography projects, I plan on compensating with a 35mm lens. At the price point, this is an excellent entry level camera and after all, the most important qualities for good art in this medium are a good lens and a great eye!

Received this as a b-day gift (Was on my wish list). Couldn't be happier. It is replacing my T5i as a second body to my 6D. The increased resolution and multi focal points make my pictures pop. I mainly do landscape, nature and wildlife, and the focal points help me compose the pics better. It has more features than I've been able to use, but the touch screen shutter release is very nice and easy to use. Best of all it is compatible with all my lenses, especially my EF long lenses and my EF-S wide angle lenses. The WiFi is an awesome option. Sync it to you phone or tablet set the camera on a tripod sit back, and wait for the perfect moment the click the shutter with the phone, and the pic is saved to the phone, tablet and SD card.

I haven't used the video function but use this for pictures regularly. I had several canon lenses so in looking for a replacement body, I saw this coming out so I preordered it. There were only a few video reviews available that were decently done but didn't give me the details I like to read since I knew they somehow received a preproduction model. I'm glad I waited and purchsed this. It makes me and my lenses look better than I am. The colors are great and the autofocus works well and fast. There are times when I have to try to focus several times to get my target in focus but with the fast focusing, it can still be done quickly. I am not a very good photographer but this body helps out tremendously and helps make me good.

The lcd (touch!) screen, auto focus capabilities, and overall versatility of this camera are impressive. It’s honestly unnerving how quiet and fast the autofocus is. Instead of twitching back and forth to get the subject in focus, it just kind of washes over like a wave. I bought a 10-18mm lens with this, and it is a fantastic setup for vlogging. The only minor issue I have is the low light performance (particularly with photos), but I think most of the noise I’ve experienced is due to the lens I have. Just invest in a lens with an f stop of 2.8 or lower and you should be fine in low light shooting.

I upgraded from an EOS rebel to the 80D. I took pictures of my sons at the State Swim Meet. We were quite a ways up in the bleachers so wasn't sure if it would capture action shots from that far away. I shouldn't have worried. With a 300MM lens, I was able to take pictures that were so clear, you could see water droplets falling off of them as they swam. They were not blurry or anything. A professional photographer was next to me taking shots with his camera and he was very impressed with the quality. He started talking ISO this and ISO that and was even more impressed when he saw mine adjusted the ISO automatically based on the lighting. Can't upload a photo because the size for each photo is large, but the detail is worth it!!!

For those looking to step their game up from the Rebel series, this is a great choice. A sturdier build, excellent still photo and movie featured camera. I made a mistake and sold this camera a year ago but recently looked back into my picture collection I had shot with different cameras. Each time I would look at the metadata for the pictures that I loved all over again, each picture ended up coming from the 80D. Very easy camera to learn how to use. Just don’t read the manual. Stick with YouTube for that.

Having owned an original Canon Rebel DSLR for close to 10 years, it was time to upgrade the camera body. Looking for both still and video capabilities, with the objective of taking only one camera during my travels, the new Canon DSLRs made the most sense. But which one? One requirement was a headphone jack, allowing monitoring the quality of audio in customer interviews. Full automatic and manual shooting too. After much research the 80D seemed like the perfect fit and has shown to be a great choice. Only one shortcoming - the small APS-C image sensor. I just wish there was a full-frame version with all the other features in the same price range.

Worth every penny!after extensively researching many cameras, I found this camera to be the best fit for me. When using this camera, coming from a T5, The difference could be seen immediately! When filming the videos (YouTube) The auto focus is nothing short of amazing. The auto focus is almost instant and you do not hear the camera struggled to focus when doing so. It's a smooth transition. Worth every penny! I would highly recommend this!!!

The Canon 80D essentially is a revamped & overhauled 70D with major improvements under the hood. The focusing system is clearly one of the major advances I've noticed during this first week of use, particularly with native Canon EF & EF-S lenses. In comparison with the previous model it simply feels all-around like a "revolution rather than an evolution" but I consider this to be its greatest asset- it perfected the 70D by addressing its major shortcomings. For those upgrading from an entry-level DSLR, or making that first step, the 80D is a very solid choice.

Great camera body for hobbyist, photography, and video. I had upgraded from a Canon 60D to the 70D and after a week I decided I needed to upgrade to the 80D for the additional auto focus capabilities. Everything about this camera is amazing from the wifi smart app access, lcd touchscreen controls to the amazing quality of prints. I have had oversized prints made and they look stunning. Only thing I would change is to add 4K video and have a full frame sensor but for 1199, you can't beat it!

Great camera, I needed a replacement in a pinch while on vacation. I wish the Cascade's store could have been a little more helpful - Since I was travelling, I needed to be sure the camera worked before leaving and there was no charged battery available for that purpose. Recommend stores keep spare charged batteries for the DSLR cameras on hand for people that want to ensure the item works before leaving the store. The sales person seemed more interested in stressing the 20% restocking fee on returns.

I was originally looking to upgrade my camera to a fullframe but decided to go with the 80D because of the aps-c lenses thatvwas already invested. From an old T2i to this new 80D is a much needed upgrade. The images come out great and with the new 45 auto focusing points to help capture the areas needed to be in focus. The bigger grip makes the camera more comfortable to hold, ergonomic handle. Quicker autofocus and greater iso range.

Camera does and excellent job, fast, accurate, lots of metering spots, nice capabilities. BUT Its an absolute pain for me to use NFC to communicate with my Samsung Edge S7. The NFC spot seems also to be on the other side of the camera from where the diagram indicates. I WASTE so much time transferring photos and my Nikon P 900 transfers immediately with no fanfare. I WOULD buy it again but I hate that that particular feature apparently stinks.
