I'll start off by stating that I'm more partial to Nikon, but this camera might sway me. The Canon - EOS R10 Mirrorless Camera is such a great product. Much lighter than a regular DSLR, this camera is a delight to operate. I have not played around with the manual settings, the scenes and presets included are great as they are. This will almost be used exclusively by beginners with this camera. I'd like to get a macro lense and see how that performs. Set up is easy, the only thing that threw me off was adjusting the lense for the first time. You need to turn it clockwise until it disengages. I had to google how to adjust it as the instructions included weren't the best. This will become my main camera to use while traveling. It's light, very nice form factor and feels great while snapping photos. I would recommend this camera for anyone that wants to get into photography with something that is more than just point and shoot. I've been doing photography (for fun) for over 20 years and I'm very happy and impressed with this camera.

I want to start this review by saying I am a complete novice with cameras. I do consider myself tech-savvy. I have been editing videos and doing web development for nearly 13 years now. I started at 14 years old. I am not an experienced photographer that will compare this to their other cameras or nitpick every camera detail and feature. My first impression is that Canon cares about protecting its device and lens. Everything came well protected. I started by charging the battery and putting in my SD card (which I got separately). The battery charges via an adapter that plugs into the wall. You can also charge via USB-C. I left it charging for nearly an hour like this, yet nothing happened. Perhaps it was an incompatible charge or was too short. The wall charger works great. There is a light indicator letting you know it is charging and charged. The camera also comes with a neck strap. I am not a fan; it is slightly uncomfortable. The screen, by default, goes to sleep after ten seconds. I immediately changed that. That was annoying in the beginning. I would be about to get my shot, and the screen would go dark. I would assume they did this to preserve battery life. From what I can tell, you should be able to get 3-4 hours of use. I may one day grab a spare battery. I would not say it is a beginner camera. Occasionally, there are helpful tip popups, but not many. I am learning about new features and this camera's capability through YouTube. For example, one quirk about the camera, the menu is different depending on which mode you are using. I'm not sure I would notice something like that. I have taken some good photos with it. With time and knowledge, I am sure they will get better. I cannot fairly judge it since it is my first camera. I at least know it is not the best. One of my main reasons for getting this camera is the flip screen. Every camera should have that feature. When video recording, there is a slight static recorded during the video. The static easily could be silenced during editing. I do look forward to getting a microphone for this camera. It does not get loud enough with the built-in speakers. It was also annoying that the card reader light began flashing red during playback. Quite distracting and unnecessary. I tried the transfer feature. It was pretty reliable for the most part. Twice it disconnected, out of maybe the ten times I used it. It was quick to repair to my phone. Overall, it is not perfect. I would say for someone like me that wants to skip the beginner camera, this is perfect.

So mirrorless cameras basically are as it sounds. They don't use mirrors. As a result, they are simpler. This results in them able to have smaller and lighter form factors. They are also quiet. A ubiquitous example of mirrorless cameras are in everyone's pockets! Phones are mirrorless cameras. One of the biggest "cons" of mirrorless cameras is that they do worse in low-light environments but technology continues to improve! Right out of the box, I was just blown away by how light and small the Canon EOS R10 was. One might fall into the trap of it's small so it looks not professional. However, I would not count it out. In terms of real-life use, it works well. The auto-focus was great. It closes in automatically on subjects. There are different modes that you can use. There is focus stacking where it takes multiple images with variable focus and then combines them to create one picture with everything in focus.Think of it as the opposite of the "portrait" mode that seems to be so popular these days. You can do panoramas. Videos are where mirrorless cameras shine. This can handle 4K videos. Where this camera suffers is the battery life. I would carry around extra batteries when going out for a trip. All in all, for the value, the Canon EOS R10 is a good entry level camera. It can take some great photos and videos. You can easily switch between them. With all of its features, you can continue to learn how to further customize things. It does suffer from a shorter battery life than most people would like, but that is something that all mirrorless cameras struggle with. You really can't go wrong with this camera if you are looking into something more serious.

As someone interested in photography and wanted to start out on the hobby, this camera was a great choice. Paired with a good general purpose lens, you really get a feel for what kind of pictures you like to take. What is great is that you are able to go all out on the RF lens lineup and be able to reuse them in Canon's other mirrorless cameras should you need to upgrade in the future. The camera itself is pretty easy to use. The software that comes with allow you to choose different shooting scenes and let the camera do all the work in picking the best options for you. For a beginner, this gives you the best way to test different settings at a time and still get great pictures. If you decide to go full manual, the buttons for the most part are pretty user friendly. You have your shutter speed dial for the index finger, and you can control the aperture with either the dial on the power button, or a combination of holding another button with your thumb and sliding the shutter dial. There doesn't seem to be a ISO adjuster without going through some menus. The quick options menu can sometimes get in the way, you'll find your palm accidentally pressing some buttons when trying to get a good grip on the camera. You are able to lock it though, but that locks all the buttons which may not be desirable if you're trying to find the right settings. The screen is a touchscreen, and leaves little to no fingerprints when using. It is very responsive and fully adjustable to face in any direction you need it to. If you are used to using a back button, like on a smartphone, you'll really start to wish that was a dedicated button. There can be quite a few inconsistencies as to which button will let you go back when going through the menus. Reviewing your pictures is a little limited as you'll have to go picture by picture. Sometimes you'll want to have a filesystem so you can quickly review your photos. You can connect to the camera from your computer with a usb-c cable and browse your photos that way, which is convenient. This also allows you to charge your battery so you don't need to use the dedicated wall charger. It's a little disappointing that it only comes with one battery, but you can find replacement LP-E17 batteries elsewhere. The manual that comes with is very sparse in what it tells you. Canon has one on their site that goes into way more detail about each functionality. Overall, I really like this camera. You don't have to break the bank to get some quality photos, and if anything, a lot of the picture quality comes from the user's skill. The auto function does a great job and you'll find it usually gives you what you want. I am looking forward to taking this on my future trips and documenting all the memories.

The Canon - EOS R10 Mirrorless Camera with RF-S 18-45 f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens – Black is a good camera to learn photography with, after always using my Smartphone camera. Since I am just starting out with photographing objects without using my Smartphone, I needed a lightweight camera that can grow with me, and the Canon EOS R10 is a great first camera for a novice, like me, to begin with. It is small and lightweight and has an impressive autofocus tracking for a mid-range camera. The EOS R10 can track a wide range of subjects, including people, animals (dogs, cats, birds) and vehicles, and follows them around the photographing area. This is a fast camera - 15fps burst shooting is available when using the R10's mechanical shutter and 23fps when using the electronic shutter, both with continuous auto-focus and auto-exposure. On the video side, there’s 4K/60p recording for up to an hour and Full HD footage at frame rates up to 120p, which can make the Canon R10 just as desirable to videographers as to photographers just shooting stills. I can also take pictures with the Canon - EOS R10 Mirrorless Camera with RF-S 18-45 f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Lens – Black and save them to my phone through a Bluetooth connection. There's also a UHS-II SD memory card slot, built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, integrated USB Type-C, mini HDMI, microphone port and a new multi-function accessory shoe.

Before I got the Canon EOS R10 Mirror less camera, I already owned and use a Canon M50 Mark II and a Canon EOS RP camera, so I was already familiar with the operating system so to speak. There were things I liked better about the smaller M50, and things I liked better about the larger RP, and the EOS R10 kind of blends the best of both worlds together to be the best of the three. 1st thing is it's both a beginner friendly camera, and at the same time, it has lots of room to grow as you become a more skilled photographer. The nice thing is the menu system for operating the near infinite settings and adjustments is very intuitive and laid out so it's super easy to use and to learn. Weather you're taking still photographs, or filming video, there are settings that will let the camera do most of the hard work and let the artist just point and shoot, or there are a few setting modes that offload a few of the settings to the camera's AI but let the artist make the main adjustments and the camera will adjust it's settings to follow along with the artist. And of course there is full manual mode that will let you adjust everything however you want it, exactly the way you want and the camera won't change a thing, it will just capture the images how you tell it to. The built in flash works great, and the camera will even make recommendations on when it thinks you might benefit from using the flash. The included kit lens is amazing for a kit lens... it's actually really amazing for a lens period. I got some of the most highly detailed pictures using the included lens that I've ever gotten with any camera ever. I was highly impresses once I was plying them back on my monitor. The focus system on this camera is better than camera's costing 3 times as much, and it nailed focus on almost every picture I took with greater than 98% accuracy or better, and the shots it missed were probably my fault not the cameras. I could go on and on talking about how good this camera is, but I'll just say it's an amazing value, and with it being part of the R series it uses the best most up to date lenses that were specifically crafted for the mirrorless system, so you could start your photography career with this camera, buy all the lenses you want, upgrade to a more capable body and still continue to use the same lenses, and then use this camera for back up, and or shooting B roll. Being from the same family and from the same system is handy because the features and settings are similar enough that using this camera, and then switching to one of my other Canons isn't a hassle, everything is where it should be, easy to find, and easy to switch back and forth. 1 last thing is the flip and rotate screen on the back. It's a tough screen, and tough shutter can be activated, so you can flip it around when filming yourself or taking selfies, and it's easy to make adjustments on the fly, and to see what they do. No fumbling around with dials etc like some other brands.

I for one use my phone for my photography stuff because it's what I usually carry. For reference I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 and more recently a Google pixel 7 pro to compare . The computational photography the Google pixel can do is amazing but the lens and CPU can only do so much. this camera is bigger with a bigger lens of course. It's not a full frame mirror less camera but a cropped one. It's still not bad. Not an expert but I love taking photos of stuff like my cat , outside and etc. Inside the box You'll get the body, kit lens , AC adapter to charge the battery and the battery. On the body you get the LCD screen, mini HDMI port , battery and SD card compartment and USB C port. The camera is a 24 megapixel affair. Also has a Built in LED flash as well. The setup for the camera is easy enough and has buttons for everything. You got the shutter button , an Autofocus button, a button to trigger AF and manual focus as well among other buttons. The camera takes amazing photos with the right settings and easy for me . Of course with more lens you can take better advantage of the camera .

This camera is phenomenal! I am an avid photographer and have been looking for a good quality camera with a lot of options that I could get started with. This one is perfect. It lets you adjust your shots your way or you can set it on automatic then just point and shoot. It also does video which is perfect. If you’ve never used a camera like this it will take some getting used to because it’s a little heavier than you might think. I definitely recommend using the included strap. Setup was quick and easy. I do wish that a microSD card would have been included with it, but lucky for me, I had one. Initially I thought there was an issue charging the battery because the battery light blinked instead of being solid when charging. I unplugged the charger, removed the battery from the unit then inserted it again with no problem. I assume there was a connection glitch because it hasn’t happened again. There are a couple of apps you can download so you can see your pictures on your phone instead of on the camera and you can upload them to services like OneDrive. The pictures I’ve taken have been great and I can’t wait to explore and do more.

Amazing camera so far! I’m still learning everything it does, but at the moment I’m very impressed with the quality. Definitely a lot of bang for the buck!

great entry level camera easy to use and great pictures

The image quality of this camera is much better than the entry-level EOS SLRs of a few years ago. In addition, the autofocus is very precise, ensuring that you never miss a shutter chance. Continuous shooting at 15 frames per second also captures the movements of children and animals. For me, it is a revolutionary camera!

This camera is a high quality camera. Really good for sports photography. The quality is top of the line, for a very good price. I would highly recommend.

I've had this camera for two weeks. I'm pretty much a beginner photographer. I upgraded from the t6i. This camera is light, but add a 100-400 and it's perfect. This is one amazing camera for the price.

Great amateur camera that’s an in between beginner and advanced photographer. Specs are decent and quality is good for the price. The shutter sound is a bit loud, but silent mode is available. Kit lens is decent, but definitely upgrade if looking for higher quality.

Back in 2008 I decided I wanted to learn photography. Back then, and perhaps to some extent still today, Nikon and Canon were the only game in town for “serious” or “professional” photographers to buy DSLR cameras from. I wasn’t opening a photography studio and I certainly wasn’t going to be on the sidelines of a sporting event shooting for Sports Illustrated, but the geek in me thought it would be amazing to capture great photographs of nature and those Hollywood shots of people you see in movies when I was out on personal vacations. So I spent far too much money on a Nikon D90 camera, a tripod, travel bags, flashes, camera lenses…. I was all in baby! Next I bought a few “how to become a photographer” books, I signed up for a few online photography courses and I spent a few months trying to learn the art. Focal lengths and shutter speeds and ISOs…. The whole thing was just too complex for my brain to digest and when I looked at all the knobs and buttons on the D90 my brain just froze with this overwhelming sense of dread of not knowing which dial to set or which setting worked best. It went on like this for a few months but the freedom of not having to pay for film to develop allowed for far more experimentation with the photos. I was able to produce a handful of amazing photos, some which still are framed and on my bookshelf today. The turning point for me to move away from DSLR was a trip to a local waterfall where a camera club was visiting. I watched each one of them spend 10-15 minutes setting up their equipment trying to get the perfect shot while the other tourists walked up, snapped a shot in under a minute and kept walking. Sometimes all you want is a quick and simple photo of a moment. I asked one of the enthusiasts if he would mind using my D90 to take a photo of me and his reply was “well I’m not comfortable with what settings you’ve configured for your camera so I’d rather not.” I shrugged, asked a different stranger who wasn’t part of the camera club and after a quick “just point and shoot” I got a few photos of me in front of the waterfall. Would the results win any photography awards? No, but to this day I can still look at the photo and remember that moment. I also remember looking down at my heavy bag of equipment and realizing how overly complex I had made my life by not only having to think way too hard about which settings and knobs to set the camera to, but also how much extra room lugging all this equipment required. I came home from that trip, put the D90 in the closet, and let it collect dust for a few months before I decided to cut my loses and sell it on eBay. My cell phone camera would be just fine. Fourteen years later, I’m holding this Canon EOS R10 in my hand. Aside from the fact that it’s a smaller, lighter camera, and the technology moved from mirrored to mirrorless, it is still a terrible experience to take photos. There are still far too many knobs and switches, made even worse by a fold out tiling LCD screen that adds even more complexity. Perhaps some people love this mess of buttons and knobs and now a touchscreen, but it’s just not for me. So I’ve settled on using the EOS R10 for one specific purpose: recording videos using a tripod stand. And for video recording, it’s one dial setting on the knob, it’s start and stop simple and the videos the camera records are excellent quality and sharpness so I love it. To support video recording I purchased a Canon GH-100TBR Tripod Grip to use with the R10. The Tripod stand works great for my primary use case of sitting the camera on a desk. The GH-100TBR comes with the Canon BR-E1 wireless remote control but I was disappointed to learn that the wireless remote will not pair with the R10. I’m hopeful a future firmware update for the R10 will address this limitation. One other gripe: the camera comes with a USB-C cable to connect to a computer and this experience worked for me to use the camera as a webcam, but I was unable to get the USB-C cable to charge the camera in a stand alone configuration. There is a mini USB port on the device and it seems that Canon has a different USB accessary that is required in order to power this camera. This seems like a missed opportunity as USB-C is quickly becoming the single plug and cable for charging everything these days.

The Canon R 10 camera is a wonderful mirrorless mid-level camera. Offers a great selection of shooting modes and and a good selection interchangeable lenses.
