When I first bought this camera I was a little nervous because the price was a little low, but it was worth it. The video quality is amazing. I'm still trying to figure out how to take a photo, but when I do I will get back to this. It comes with the body of the camera, a 18-45mm lense, a battery, the battery charger, and a camera strap. It's not too big and chunky so it's perfect for travel or wherever you go. The sound quality is amazing too. The only thing is you can't film or take pictures unless you have a Sandisk card, so I would recommend you buy an sd card when you buy this camera. Sooooooo overall would I recommend this camera..........Definitely! Also I'm still trying to figure out some of the settings.

So this is my first DSLR camera, the learning curve going from my smart phone camera to this took a bit of time. My first and most glaring observation is, why wouldn't Canon add even a small GB card just to get me going. And next, I keep finding myself swiping the screen...it's not a touch screen LOL. So after charging the battery and going to purchase an SD card I turned on the camera by the switch located on the right side on top near the dial. The initial screen is setting up the date and time, etc. After that, it let me know that I wasn't ready to take pictures with the message saying 'Set the lens to the shooting position'. I'd forgotten to remove the lens cap, told you I'm spoiled by my cell camera. So far I've done everything using Auto, but will be venturing to different or manual formats soon. My early observations are; first using the eyepiece is awesome, I'm nearsighted but because I can adjust it using the slider under the eyepiece I don't have to wear glasses while shoting. The shutter sound when taking pictures is nostalgic. I'm still working on the video part of the camera but until then the shots I've taken so far are very vivid and focused perfectly also printing them on my Canon printer is a breeze. I can't wait to master this puppy, and may even get a telephoto lens at some point. Overall I am very happy to have this camera, I'm not sure if it will replace my phone but who knows, stranger things have happened!

Awesome camera... a HUGE upgrade from my old Sony!

I bought this camera a month ago, after doing extensive research on similar models and other brands. I had to replace my camera that I had owned since 2006. I bought it new, but it was an '05 model... so we are talking about a 19-year-old camera (was a Sony, by the way, and it lasted many years before it finally crapped out). This is a HUGE change from that Sony Cybershot. SO MUCH has changed in the couple of decades since. technology just keeps advancing at a record pace. I am still trying to catch up. It is taking me a long time to learn all about this camera, but I will get there eventually. Each time I use it, I learn a little more. I do miss just having my old camera, which was basically always ready... just turn on and shoot. This one takes a while to just get it out of the carrying case I bought for it, then to get all the various caps off and the lenses attached. All of which took me a while to learn. And I move slowly with this because it is bigger than I am used to, and I don't want to damage anything. By the time I do all that and take a picture, it takes twice as long or longer as my old camera. But that is just me learning and being careful. I do like that I do not need a cord to transfer the pics to my PC... but yep, that too took a little time to figure out and takes longer than just cording it. But again... it is me learning and this is a MUCH better camera than my old one. There is no comparison. I just have a lot to learn, but I am not in a hurry. I am enjoying it so far. Good quality camera and the pics I have taken thus far are phenomenal.

This camera makes me feel like a professional photographer. And while it makes me feel this way, it is far from the truth because there’s so much I have to learn about photography. But with this camera I feel I will be able to grow. From what I can tell mirrorless cameras are the way to go now anyway. This camera does so much it that it has kept me very busy learning the features. It really does a great job providing me the with the function of what each modes does. There’s a dial conveniently located on the top of the camera to choose a variety of shooting modes. Depending on what you’re trying to capture this camera allow you to select the filter. From scene intelligent to shutter priority to movie recording there are different modes to choose to suit your preference. The lens that comes with the camera(RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM) is pretty good. The zoom is incredible. It does have a screen on the back for convenience but one of the best things on this camera is the electronic viewfinder. It feels like you’re looking into a small theater screen to take photos. So you can use either(the led screen on the back or the viewfinder) to snap pics but it feels so cool to snap them with the electronic viewfinder. Canon also provides an app to use as a companion to the camera. This is where the magic happens for me. You can connect the camera to your phone via wifi or bluetooth. If a wifi connection is available the camera prefers wifi. But if not you can always connect via bluetooth. I connected via wifi and it really unlocks the potential and convenience of the camera. What this does is allow you to snap at your heart’s desire and transfer everything to your smartphone. So cool. And this process didn’t take but a few seconds. Maybe it’s because I don’t have a lot of photos yet but I still like the fact that this feature is available. Also, the app will allow you to use the phone as a remote to take pictures or record content. This is very useful because you would have no need to have someone else take a picture or shoot video.T here's also a connection on the bottom of the camera for a tripod. The feel of the camera is great. Nice and compact. Won’t slip out of your hand. For someone just starting out with photography I recommend this as a great entry level camera. The camera comes very well packaged with dust covers for the lens, battery and charger, neck strap, and camera cover. The only thing you'll need is an SD card for storage.

I've been an amateur photographer for 15+ years and it's really great how much entry level cameras have improved over the years. Canon has fully fleshed out their RF mirrorless line and this camera makes a great beginner camera or secondary body/travel camera. These R series cameras use the new RF mount and new mirrorless technology as opposed to the legacy SLR cameras of the past which were slower and more primitive, especially at the entry level price point. Do yourself a favor and skip over the Rebel SLR and T series SLR's and get an R100 or R50 to get the new mirrorless tech and more future oriented system and much more user friendly photo taking experience. The photo quality out of this R100 is virtually identical to more expensive cameras. It also has many of the same advanced autofocus functions of the more expensive cameras, but the speed and controls are slimmed down for the lower price. Out of the box the menu system of the R100 is designed for beginners with friendly tutorials on various functions. You can also configure it to a more traditional canon style menu system if you'd like to skip the tutorials. The biggest leap forward of the R100 vs the entry level SLR's such as the T7 is the vastly improved autofocus for live-view and video. With this camera you are getting eye detection and object tracking as well as smooth focusing in video. The included 18-45 kit lens is also nice for the size and price. It collapses in for smaller travel as well. The OLED viewfinder is nice on this camera, similar to the (now discontinued) M50. To keep the price point down, the R100 forgoes a touch screen and a flip screen, higher speed continuous shooting as well as 4k video and more advanced physical controls on more advanced cameras. It also cannot be charged via USB-C which is unfortunate. You have to use the external battery charger. The more expensive cameras therefore may be worth considering if you're into 4k video, action shooting and want more physical controls. But for a beginner looking to learn photography the R100 is a great starting point and if you buy full frame RF lenses they would be compatible with any upgrade you might move to should you become more invested in the hobby or profession later. If you want to use EF lenses on this, just get the canon EF-RF lens adapter.

This little mirrorless Canon is near perfect for a beginning hobby photographer, or someone who wants a real camera vs their phone. Being a beginner myself, I would say that the amount of customization options and tweakable settings without guidance can be daunting, but with a bit of practice+youtube videos, you can figure out what does what, and how easy/.useful the auto mode is for most photos. I have taken some pretty great shots just with the auto, but the fact that you can tweak something like the ISO to 12800 is pretty wild. Video is limited to 4K 24fps, but you can run up to 24mp photos, and with RAW you can obviously really tweak them to your hearts content. The included 18-45mm lens is probably fine for 70+% of home photos you'll take, but anything even semi-professional will want some nicer glass, which brings me to my next point... Where you can really run wild is the available and compatible lenses! Most aren't going to buy an entry/lower end camera and drop thousands on lenses, but you totally can! (one accessory I really recommend getting is a higher end v30 or faster SD card, I tested with a 64gb microSD with an adapter and it seemed to display pictures and scroll through much slower than the higher end 128GB v60 card I grabbed)

It's been a while since I've used a camera that was more than a "point and shoot", and back then it was a film-style 35mm camera. This is my first dip of the toe into the waters of a full-fledged digital camera, and to be honest I was a little intimidated as I opened the packaging. All my testing was done on Auto settings until I get more comfortable with the more granular settings, but that's a good thing as from what I understand, this camera is geared more towards beginners and those just learning to use a digital camera. I took a number of photos around the house and at work, again, all on Auto settings. They turned out GREAT! I did notice that I'll need to get a flash for indoor/dark shots, but for outdoor daylight shots the details were crisp, the colors were vibrant, and battery life was respectable. On the battery topic- there is no internal charging of the battery - you need to remove it and put it in the included charger. That's the only thing I found that I wished it had, as carrying a couple of batteries with me as well as the charger can get a little annoying. Outside of the battery charging, I feel that students and beginners would do well with this camera and not left feeling that they are missing out on anything ! A very nice camera!
