Canon EOS R50
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera is very light but the definition/quality of the pictures are not so good. I was expecting more as it is a canon (I have 2 others).

Great all around camera for video logs and more!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In a single sentence the Canon EOS R50 is an excellent feature packed camera for your everyday shooter, vlogs, and a lot more. In the box you get the following: EOS R50 camera body RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Standard Zoom Lens Camera cover Neck strap Lens cap Battery charger LC-E17 and pack LP-E17 Battery cover Various papers The camera itself is very well built, compact, and a lot lighter than expected even with the lens. It feels very solid and premium in the hand even with the plastic parts. The flip screen is very easy to read with all the necessary info needed to get your shot or video just right without information overload. The touch screen is very responsive and despite being fairly small I never had an issue where I was pressing something I wasnt intending to activate. Feature wide it has everything you will need if intend to use it as your go to shooter, or if your planning on video logging with uploads to Youtube, etc. It has multiple shooting modes if you want to just shoot and upload, or if you like to tweak things afterwards. Even with the auto modes selected pics and video came out amazing. Everything from auto, to food mode, to HDR, and everything in between its fun to try all the different modes to see exactly how each changes your pics and vids. Uploading to my phone for extra storage or to view content for quality, or directly to my laptop to edit the the final cut was simple and just worked. The battery life was great for pics and I would say adequate for videos. I plan on getting an extra battery for those times where you dont have a charge port available. But if anything I would run out of room on my SD card before the battery was done. It also comes with a nice selection of free programs as well. And the Canon app was easy to use with all the features I need so getting set up and going was a lot easier than with previous cameras. Overall like I said in the beginning this is the perfect all around camera if you just want to take excellent pics and videos. But if you need more it has all the features needed for high quality video logging as well. So if you to be able to just have one camera to do it all this is a great choice. Looking forward to trying even more of its settings and features to improve my shooting!

Great lightweight camera!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Canon EOS R50… This is an entry level camera? Not quite… The pricing indicates it is, however once it’s in your hands you will feel otherwise. TLDR - If you are looking to get into photography or vlogging, look no further than the EOS R50. Pros: > This camera is super lightweight. Makes for taking it anywhere almost a no brainer as you can easily pull it out to begin pointing & shooting. > Autofocus is very good. Like very good!!! Given the price point, i was surprised at how it was able to keep up with moving targets & targets coming into view (whether snapping a shot or recording a video). > The vari-angle touchscreen allows for versatility whether point & shooting or vlogging. Anyone looking to get into content creation will definitely be happy with this camera. > The A+ Assist is actually not too bad, especially when you hand off the camera to inexperienced hands such as my 8 year old son. Would say 3 out of 4 photos came out with decent to great quality shots with occasional ones which were not. > Burst shot capabilities were very good. Was afraid the camera would overheat, however I was able to get many sequential shots without any issues. > Battery life is good, considering i had sessions where i took 100+ photos and still had enough juice to keep going. Cons: > The location of the USB C charging port is less than ideal. May get in my way one day if i forget to bring spare batteries and have to use the battery pack to charge it while shooting. > Lens selection is limited… Overall, this is a great little camera with a lot of versatility. Highly recommend especially for those looking to get their feet wet with content creation!

Great all around camera!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Canon camera is a great camera with lots of capabilities. It is a lower end model and does a decent job with whatever paces input it through! It has tons of capabilities. It comes standard with a RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM Standard Zoom Lens, shoots 24.2 megapixel shots with up to 15 frames per second, a nice liquid crystal display which is viewable from many angles, and more. Having a moveable screen is really nice in those tight situations or when you have the need to raise the camera over heads that are blocking your view. This is a real easy camera to learn to operate and take great pictures and videos with. You will need to purchase a memory card as one is not included with this product. For those people who have never used a digital camera, a memory card stores all of your pictures and videos. Remember that videos utilize quite a bit of memory, so if you are planning on making or taking videos, I highly recommend a large capacity memory card. I fooled around with the video capabilities of this camera and was impressed with the cameras video quality as well as it’s picture taking capabilities. Videos were smooth, not jittery, and had awesome color definitions. As compared to my other camera which is triple in price, video quality was equal or better with my Canon. I give the Canon manufacturers a lot of credit with this camera! I think it important that users that might be interested in this product understand exactly what a mirrorless camera is. A mirrorless camera lacks a “reflex mirror”. Light passes directly through your cameras lens onto the systems digital sensor. During this step your image is then displayed onto the camera’s screen. At this point you can tweak and adjust the cameras settings prior to the actual shot! You can fix the pictures composition and lots of other things. The Canon camera has less moving parts and less items to wear out and break. I have an older DSLR (digital single lens reflex) camera which has a reflex mirror. It is a high end camera and when I do a side by side comparison of photographs there is not much of a difference between them. The Canon takes awesome pictures and videos, is much more compact in nature, and much lighter and smaller. You really can’t distinguish differences between the two unless photographs are enlarged substantially and printed. For all intents and purposes, I rarely print anything larger than an 8” by 10” photo meaning that there is no discernible difference in a printed photograph. This camera is a lot of fun to use and take videos with. On a trip to the Everglades I took some awesome videos of all sorts of wildlife. Video was absolutely stunning and I’m very happy with the results. Learning all of the capabilities of this camera will take you a little time and practice. This is a great all around camera so take it on vacation and put your phone camera down. I highly recommend this product.
