Canon EOS R6 Mark II Magic in Banff

I brought the Canon EOS R6 Mark II with the RF 24 to 105 mm f4 to f7 point 1 IS STM to Banff and it made the lakes look like paintings. At Moraine Lake before sunrise I shot 24 mm at f8, ISO 100, one second from a rock shelf and the in body image stabilization working with the lens IS kept the reflections razor sharp. Later I used the vari angle touchscreen inches above the water for a low composition at Lake Louise, two second timer on, and the new 24 point two megapixel full frame sensor plus DIGIC X pulled deep turquoise and clean shadow detail with no banding. The OLED viewfinder with about three point six nine million dots made checking focus and exposure easy even with bright snow around the shoreline. As the light changed I swapped scenes and settings without fuss. At the glacier lookout I leaned into the close focus capability at 24 mm to capture ice crystals and wind carved lines, then zoomed to 105 mm for layered peaks at sunset over Vermilion Lakes, shooting electronic shutter at 40 frames per second to catch ripples and drifting clouds without any shutter sound. People Detection with Eye AF made quick family portraits against the peaks a breeze, while RAW Burst with pre shooting rescued a perfect moment when the alpenglow hit the last ridge before I fully pressed the shutter. Handheld blue hour along the Bow River was steady at about one fifth of a second thanks to up to eight stops of coordinated stabilization, and the quiet STM focus motor stayed smooth the whole time. Video was just as strong. I recorded oversampled 4K at 60 frames per second while walking the lakeside path and the footage looked steady with natural color. A few clips in Full HD at 180 frames per second turned skipping stones and falling spray into silky slow motion. Battery life from the LP E6NH covered a full day of mixed stills and clips, and sharing was simple with Wi Fi and Bluetooth to Canon Camera Connect, while USB C moves the big files fast when you are back at the room. Add the clear menus, the responsive autofocus across almost the entire frame, and the lightweight zoom that handles landscapes, portraits, and detail shots, and this kit delivered breathtaking photos of the lakes, sunrise, sunset, and the glacier. Five out of five.

Outstanding Hybrid Camera for Photo and Video!

The Canon R6 Mark II is truly an exceptional upgrade and one of the best hybrid cameras I’ve used. The image quality is superb — sharp, clean, and full of detail even in low light. The improved autofocus system is incredibly fast and accurate; it tracks eyes and subjects flawlessly, whether for portraits, wildlife, or action shots. Video performance is equally impressive. The 4K 60p footage is crisp and smooth with no overheating issues, and the color science is classic Canon — natural and beautiful right out of the camera. The in-body image stabilization is a huge plus, making handheld shooting a breeze. Battery life is noticeably better than the original R6, and the overall handling feels comfortable and intuitive. It’s the perfect balance between professional performance and portability. Highly recommend the Canon R6 Mark II for anyone serious about photography or content creation — it’s a reliable, powerful, and fun camera to use!

Canon R6 Mark II is an excellent camera. The autofocus is fast and accurate, especially when shooting people or motion. The image quality is sharp and natural, with great skin tones. It performs well in low light, and the image stabilization works very well. Video is high quality with no overheating or time limits. The menu is easy to navigate, and the battery lasts a long time. Great for both photo and video. I’m completely satisfied with this purchase.

I love my new Canon R6 MK II! I have alway shot with a canon so the ease of menu is always great. Video comes out gorgeous and the low light shooting is better than anything I have ever shot on. It is one of the main reasons I upgraded to this camera! I know the r6 had been known to over heat, but the MK II remedied that and I shot video for hours on end with no issues. I cannot wait to do my first photoshoot with it. It has literally saved me hours with edited because of the great quality it produces. You will not regret this camera or it's lenses.

This is way more camera than most of us are likely to need. Quality abounds here with this mirrorless. I cannot emphasize enough the specs they put in this camera. Look em up I don’t need to list. I shoot alot of landscape . Mostly Astro, I said I was buying this to NOT use it at night. Although it’s difficult not to it performs so well. We do some light painting while the telescope are running. Excellent low light performance. If images are unclear…… it’s you bud. Focusing is so fast it’s unreal. I hear the video is amazing though I have no used it. Pixels are big light buckets are enormous. This camera must be CeCe’s mom, cuz it’s got it going on. Seriously do you really need this much camera??? If I had to again…… I might try the cheaper full frame. This is def not for a beginner , although if you’re smart enough and have help it could be the only camera you ever buy lol yeah ok we all know there will be more . There’s a learning curve if you’re new, if not it behaves much the same as other canons. Build quality is great , a bit heavy, keep that in mind if you shoot handheld a lot. Back focus is amazing and custom modes are so great for switching on the fly between favorite settings.

I bought this camera for my daughter who already had a canon camera and she asked me this mirror camera for Christmas and I told her that I couldn’t but I did. I gave it to her early and she loves it. She’s using it to take pictures. She’s not a professional photographer, but I think she could be a professional if she gets out there and keep doing that but since she started using this camera, she loves it. The people who she’s already photograph with this camera loves their pictures and I think this is one of the best present that I ever bought for her and I’m glad I did every penny I paid is worth what I paid for is an awesome camera and my daughter loves it now she wants a new lens a bigger lens. I don’t know she’s gotta pay for that so if I win that $400 gift card I guess that’s a beginning of that lens she wants.

I've owned this camera for a couple of months. Put it into "A" mode (the green selection on the thumb wheel) and you'll have a camera a novice can use. However, this camera has much more going on, and you can buy a much less expensive camera if you want to just point and shoot. You'll need to know how to use its advanced features to manipulate the photo before post-processing. I purchased this camera for excellent photos before they ever encountered Photoshop or Lightroom. I haven't used the video feature yet. Stills look great! However, with all the features that come with this camera, you might need some more photography experience to manage them. This camera is built for intermediate to advanced users. If you want to go pro, you'll need plenty of time to learn how to use the R6 MII. This means you'll need some training in the art of photography. It's a wonderful camera and you can take less complicated shots with ease. However, the R6 MII can do so much more if you're willing to take the time to learn.

At first I had second thoughts because of the massive competition out there but if you are looking for a camera you can use professionally and for family photos, this is the one. The autofocus is so good that it’s beginner friendly. It also has all the features pros will need. I have shot photos of my family and let a buddy of mine record a professional fitness video. The results were amazing. Alternative: The Sony A7IV is the main competitor with its own upsides like downscaled 7k video but ultimately I found the rolling shutter and forced crop at 4k60 a dealbreaker. Con’s: Canon RF lenses or adapted EF lenses are the only options currently for the most popular lenses such as the 24-70mm. To be fair these lenses are amazing quality but will be an expensive investment.

I finally after 10 years set down my Canon Rebel T6 and upgraded to this bad boy. The design is great and makes for a comfortable hold considering the size. The specs on this camera are insane and well worth the purchase. I use this body with a 50 mm 1.2 lens. I’ll attach a RAW I have taken.

A beautiful camera. I had upgraded from the Canon EOS Mark II. For the longest time, my photography felt stagnant in lowlight settings but this has improved my concert and event photography skills as well as long exposures. I advise people to get this camera before it moves up in price again.

The canon r6 mark 2 is just a beauty of a camera. I get the 24 megapixels seems like a deal breaker to some but at this price point compared to other pricier models is a steal in my opinion. Also Best Buy camera buying experience is always a pleasure and I also recommend getting the two year warranty with them. I have many camera under the warranty and there is no fear in my mind knowing I have insurance with them if something happens. This camera is the perfect balance for photos even with the megapixels as well as an advanced video camera as the eye tracking and auto focus on this camera is elite and looks amazing in 4k/60p recording!
