Great upgrade from DSLR. First autofocus test was walking around and snapping photos of small birds. Since they move so quickly in and out, I wanted to see how fast I could grab focus. The eye AF did not disappoint, grabbing focus on the eyes of small birds immediately allowing me to get many more shots than I had with my DSLR.

I have used this camera R6 for a couple of weeks for my sessions and so far it’s been great! The sharpness is better than on my Canon Mark D IV. There is a softens on the images compared to my Canon Mark D IV. Still getting used to that. Overall it’s a great camera!

This camera is incredible. I recently upgraded from my eos R to the R6 and I am so glad I did. The processor is amazing with the new sensor. Even though you’re losing 10.0 megapixels. You gain such HDR.

Not the best quality and color banding issues.

Camera produces excessive color banding at low ISO (in RAW files). Banding becomes noticeable where there are smooth gradients such as sunset / sunrise sky shots. You have to crank up ISO (noise level) to get rid of banding. My back panel screen also has a few dead pixels on it. QA is not the best.

I’ve barely scratched the surface, but this camera blows my old T3i out of the water to infinity and beyond.... Never overheated on me except once when I tried to run the Eos Utility for remote sorting from my laptop. Crazy thing is, the same task initiated from the Canon CameraConnect App caused no such issues. I was recording 4K 24FPS, so haven’t had a chance to verify the overheating claims on faster FPS. I think the Sunny still has an upper hand on “heatless” 4K recording, but the color science of Canon is hard to beat. If you can afford the extra 99$ spent on RF adapters, the R6 is a great hybrid camera that can work with all your older lenses. My 18-55 IS and 50MM just got a new lease of life and work great on the R6. No regrets yet.

So if you're thinking about this camera, just buy it. I thought it would be an incremental upgrade to my Canon EOS 6D mark 2, but it was almost a game changer. The autofocus is light years better. The low light performance is noticeably better. The dynamic range is better. With pandemic, we're indoors more. I primarily photograph my small children. My 6D would miss shots all the time. The R6 very reliably catches my kids' eyes. It also works really really fast. They don't cooperate or pose. It still gets great action shots. The EVF is a game changer for me. I often screw up shots on my DSLR by not noticing a window in the background or low light fixture that kills the exposure. EVFs really help me catch exposure and white balance mistakes. It works great with all my EF lenses. I will admit I am underwhelmed with a lot of extra features, like the joystick that doesn't work in eye mode or the dual card slots that seem pretty wonky to me. I also was hopeful they'd improve the image upload capability. However, these are minor concerns. My photos are now tangibly better. I now only use a Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 prime lens inside. My flash is collecting dust. I can get good indoor shots that look so much better than before, both due to the Camera's improved sensor and the EVF helping me catch my mistakes before I press the shutter. I was nervous about buying this due to the cost, but definitely don't regret it now that I have it. It changed how I take photographs...making it easier and improving the end-result.
