Great camera for first time DSLR user

My wife and I are point and shoot digital camera people. We recently had a newborn and realized it was time to step up our photography in order to preserve the journey of parenthood, and save the memories in images. We compared a Nikon with the above canon and quickly realized that the canon is for first time DSLR users. The Nikon is steered toward the photography professionals who understand all the photography jargon. The canon produces the same quality photos as the Nikon but allows for a point and shoot experience with a lot of settings that are "auto" that will correct user errors. I would highly recommend this camera and my wife is now pursuing a hobby in photography!

The T3i is a great camera for beginners or those looking to increase the quality of the photos they take. For the features that are included, the camera offers a lot of bang for your buck. As usual, the included kit lens isn't the best and will most likely be replaced in the not too distant future. Video quality is great, but the built-in microphone is horrible. If you want to produce great video, you will have to invest in a better external microphone ($200+). Overall, the T3i is an amazing bargain and I couldn't recommend it more for those in this price range.

I have been putting off purchasing a good DSLR for several years now. Every time I got ready to buy one the next better and cheaper model would come out. Well as life goes my kids were growing up and I was missing out on all those good pictures so I finally purchased the Rebel T3si. I have been more than satisfied. Once, I learned how to actually use the camera I found I could take 3 and 4 action pics without even realizing or intending to. Upon review they all turn out to be great action shots. I am completely satisfied.

easy for beginners to DSLR (like me), fantastic picture quality, easy to review and customize on the "beginner" settings. I haven't mastered the more advanced user options yet, but I experiment with just for fun pictures and am sure that for a pro there are plenty of options.

I bought this camera on a whim; I wasn't a photo major nor do I know all the ins and outs of all of the nomenclature of the "proper way" to take a picture. Just looking for a new hobby on a trip that was planned. The T3i was self explanatory out of the box and, when in manual mode - where you have to adjust shutter speed, ISO, etc, EVERY function is explained on the screen. I'm one of those guys that doesn't know how to read a manual and I had this figured out within a day; Alaska was great and I have amazing pictures that captured every day of the trip. This camera is super easy to operate and each function is explained at the touch of a button so there is really no guesswork involved in getting that perfect shot. The only thing that was missing was a tripod...

The camera is great, tons of features and lenses that you can use. The problem comes in the learning of those features. The book it comes with is so-so in regards to learning anything, had to buy a DvD and watch a lot of the training videos on their website to begin getting off the preset settings and actually use the camera. Presets give great pictures but it is not until you begin programming the settings you want and learning how to adjust the settings in manual do you begin to actually see the camera bloom. Pros: Value, Features, ability to have a wide selection of lenses to choose from later so I can keep the camera for a long time. Cons: Need to invest time actually using the camera to get it of the point and shoot type environment.

Simply put, the Canon T3i takes great shots. The 18 megapixels of resolution is outstanding. Focus is fast. Camera settings offers creative ways to take quality shots any time, day or night, indoors or outdoors. Well worth the investment.

I love this camera! It takes great quality photos and the fully articulating LCD screen is so handy! It has plenty of features for the more accomplished photographer and yet is easy to manage for the beginner. I would definitely buy it again!

I am an amateur photographer who enjoys taking photos of wildlife. This little camera does the job. It was reasonably priced and came with a carrying case and strap. It was easy to set up and easy to use. It takes nice photos. Would recommend it to anyone.

My wonderful husband purchased this camera for my birthday gift. I am a beginner at this and I must say the camera looks very intimidating but once you watch the DVD and keep practicing it becomes second nature! The photos are breathtaking! I'm not one that comment all the specs and specifics because I'm not all up to speed on it, but I do know I've always had a cannon and love this brand! I recommend this camera to all beginners, it's great!

Purchased this camera to take sports action shots of my daughter's sporting events as my point and shoot camera was horrible. So far, it has been a great camera and I have taken some great shots even though this is my first DSLR camara. I do plan on taking a class to learn more about it, but so far it has been well worth the price.

This DSLR is super easy to use. I use it at our nonprofit and I am not a professional. It can be set to auto and then you are good to go. I did buy an external flash which really improves the picture quality. People do not look washed out. The flash on the camera is good but buying an extra flash is worth it.

This is my first DSLR and its amazing. I have the stock lens that comes with it and i'v learned a lot of different techniques on how to take amazing pictures watching some online tutorials. I'm learning the manual settings and it frustrates me sometimes as a beginner but its am amazing camera. Takes really sharp pictures and the features are just endless. You can take a wide variety of pictures with the different settings on the camera. If you are trying to transition from a point and shoot to a DSLR, this T3i is definitely worth it. And if you are a novice photographer like myself, this is the perfect camera for you too. Its just amazing.

I like the camera. It can serve to both amateur or professionals. There is an automatic set point shoot and manual set shoot options. There are lots of options of shooting that can get you confused.Very adjustable and modifiable.great low light sensor let's you shoot in a room with dimm light or evening outdoor shoots. The flash is a very limited range flash that can be used in close ranges for up to 10 feet.Additional flash will make it a monster camera. Shotter speed is good enough unless you are shooting pics in a horse track.I had difficulty on taking pics with auto sttings because of 9 point image sensor don't allow me to take pics.It makes buzz sound when I tried. It must be another feature that I don't like I guess. If you can find it under $500 I can say that it's a nice price tag.Earlier versions with older sensors can mislead you.Watch the version T3i,not T3.

    Perfect Choice

This camera came highly recommended and had good reviews. It proved to be the perfect choice for capturing memories on a recent trip to Italy. I knew that I wanted something with more capabilities than my cell phone or point and shoot. But point and shoot was about all that I needed to do. Except for having to haul it around and looking like an obvious tourist, I couldn't be happier. The T3I did a remarkable job capturing shots in any lighting. I shot mostly in landscape mode so the night shots don't quite look like night, but the insides of cathedrals, with there ornate sculptures and frescoes, look outstanding. I was reluctant to add another $600. to the cost of the vacation, but I'm glad I did. This is the first time I've been excited about photography since I stopped shooting with my old AE-1.

I love this camera, the price may be out there but I took the risk and got it. I wish it would have more zoom but I need a macro lens for that. Anyways, I would recommend it if you want great quality photos especially for children!

Purchased this camera to take large family re-union pictures, and it exceeded my expectations for picture quality. Everyone was amazed at the skin tones and the flexibilty of settings. I highly recomend that you try all or most of the settings. Be patiant if you have never owned an slr its a steep learning curve compared to point and shoot cameras. The AUTO function probably took the worst pictures...so I recomend you read the manual and watch videos online. Battery will last you well over 1000 pictures. Did I mention its eye-fi ready. Just buy an eye-fi sd card and send pictures instantly to your phone or laptop!
