It is a good camera for beginners but I would recommend going ahead and upgrading to the t5i. You get more bang for your buck

The first camera I bought had a problem with running down the battery. It had to be recharged after just a few minutes. I took it back to Best Buy and they gave me a new camera, which works just fine. I'm still learning all of the settings. That's a drag because it takes sort of a long time to figure out the best setting for each picture, but you can always use the Auto setting. There's a learning curve if you want to use all the features of the camera.

My entry-level DSLR and what a great choice! Absolutely love using, only complaint is that the battery dies after being used for a few days.

Bought Canon T3i, it was a decent camera but then about 9 months into using it there were focus issues....took camera in to be fixed, geek squad said they cannot fix and they could not replace because they discontinued the camera...even though they sold me the replacement insurance for it 9 months before!!!

Okay, a little over a month ago I did countless hours of research to find the perfect camera for everyday, amateur, casual use. I looked at the t2i, t3i, 60d, d3100 and d5100 and I settled on the t3i and never looked back! This camera is great, but I will go over a couple features that I found really nice and reasons I picked this guy. 1080p HD video with the flip out scree is VERY helpful for any kind of video. You might not think the flip out is important but it is so much easier when you want that cinematic shot at a local festival or capturing the moment when your child blows out candles for his/her birthday. Point of view is key, with the flip out, you can put the camera anywhere and still see what you are shooting with out straining your neck. Fast capture rate, important when getting kids playing sports or moving animals at the zoo. Light weight feel to it (compared to higher end dslrs), I wanted something lighter for all day carrying around on my neck or backpack. Smaller feel (compared to the d60 or any other higher end dslrs). The difference is noticeable in your hand and although the d60 feels like you have a better grip, I have smaller hands so works perfect. I'd recommend heading to the store and trying for yourself. That being said, those were some of the important features to me when I decided to go with this camera. Sure the image quality, video quality and build quality were great, but with cameras at this price, they are all really nice! I'd urge you to really look in to what you like in a camera before choosing. It will be the minor differences that will sway you!

I have had a Canon before and that influenced me to buy another. Still see it as a preferred brand by many novice photographers.

I love this camera, just wish I had someone to guide me through on alot of the features. What I have learned I really enjoy it.
