Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the excellent camera quality and ease of use of the EOS Rebel T5 DSLR Camera. Many also appreciate its affordable price and lightweight design. While some users noted minor issues with autofocus performance and the lack of an included memory card, the positive feedback on image quality and user-friendliness outweighs these concerns.

I expected to be able to use this camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera was a gift for my wife at Christmas. There is something missing in the camera (like a digital recorder) that we never got. The camera is not being used. We are disappointed in this purchase.

More difficult than anticipated
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to go buy a book to be able to understand all the bells and whistles on this camera. I've had it now for some time and still can't accomplish what I had hoped. Time will tell!

Nice Camera. Not as nice as described by sales.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this outfit so that I might take some long distance shots here in Wimberley where I live. In my view, the camera does not perform as advertised because that the detail on the 50+ yard shots are substandard & the multishot feature does not function well. Not sure what to do with it.

Great value and camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This camera is a great buy. I am very pleased with the pictures it takes and the ease in taking the pictures. I had an old Canon digital camera, and the buttons on this one are similar making it easier for me to transition to the DLSR. This was a great deal with an extra lens and camera bag. My only complaint is that I wish that the lens cover had some kind of way to attach to the camera when the camera is in use, For now, when you remove the lens cover, you have to keep track of where you put it.

Very happy with my first DSLR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was wanting to get a dslr camera for years. I went out and got both a Canon and Nikon so I could compare and choose which one I liked better. I loved the Canon and still do a year later. The picture quality is just amazing, way better than my point and shoot or cell phone. Great investment with several accessories out on the market that I would still like to get. Perfect for a first time user like myself and selling at a decent price. Go get one!!

Excellent Beginners Bundle
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera bundle based on the fact that it came with lenses and a bag to carry it all. We were about to go on vacation and was interested in taking some top quality photos. I bought this the day before we left and the only thing I wished I had done was buying it sooner. Trying to learn on the fly like I did was hard, especially not knowing anything about photography. But if you just read up a little on beginners DSLR photography and you can catch on quickly. The image quality is just amazing compared to the Canon SX 130 IS point and shoot I was using. There are times that we will be out and I see something off in the distance and the SX 130 just doesn't have the distance to capture it quite like I would want. With this bundle I have fixed that problem. I just attach the 75-300 mm zoom and I can get near what I want, unless its more than a 1/2 mile out. I consider this an excellent improvement over the SX 130 IS and I am extremely pleased with the image quality. Very clear and crisp photos. However I do recommend investing in a decent tripod for the 75-300 mm zoom lens due to it not having Image Stabilization built into the lens. This will help with your long range photos a lot. I am very pleased with my purchase and will use it until I feel the need to upgrade down the road years later.

Great first camera
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera, because I have always like photography and I was considering buying a DSLR. I bought this specific one, because my store was actually out of the base model, the Canon T5 w/ 18-55mm lens. I am GLAD I got this the extra lens in great, especially if you are looking to take nature photography. This camera is great and easy to operate and takes amazing pictures!

Great for a Newbie, but I'd get the T5i or 70/7D
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used a few Canon and Nikon cameras and both manufacturers make great cameras, so you can't really go wrong when you get one. Canon cameras get better depending on how new it is and the model #. Entry Level: 1000's (1000D-1300D) Entry Level Plus: 100's (450D-760D) Semi-Pro: 10's (10D-80D) Premium: 1's (7D, 6D, & 5D) Professional: 1's (1D) The Rebel T5 is actually the Canon 1200D, so it's the lowest on the totem pole of how good Canon cameras are. But it's also pretty new so that makes it better than even some of the Semi-Pro cameras in my opinion. The T5i is actually the Canon 700D, so you can see by being in the 100's it's a higher class of camera with more & better features. (the touch screen is awesome. The T4i may even be better than the T5). I used a T5 to shoot a wedding recently as a secondary camera and the best thing about it is that it's lightweight compared to my 7D. But with less buttons, it can be a little slower to change settings on the T5. And it can be harder to find the settings to change. Now if you don't shoot in manual, it may not really matter to you. Also, one reason the camera is so light is because it's plastic. A good plastic, but Canon users call it "Fantastic Plastic". The 7D has a metal body and it just feels better. Picture Quality: 9/10 (18MP is great, 22 or 24MP would be better) Ease of Use: 7/10 (not too hard, but less buttons make it harder) Price: 7/10 (decent, but I'd rather buy a used Canon w more options) Features: 4/10 (does what you need, but not too fancy) Value: 6/10 (it's good, but experienced users can get more for $200 extra) Autofocus: 8/10 (does well) Focus: 7/10 (not good in low light) Shutter Speed: 7/10 Speed: 6/10 Low Light Capability: 6/10 (you're going to need the flash or $700 lens) I would only recommend this camera if you don't intend to use the manual settings.
