Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the excellent camera quality and ease of use of the EOS Rebel T5 DSLR Camera. Many also appreciate its affordable price and lightweight design. While some users noted minor issues with autofocus performance and the lack of an included memory card, the positive feedback on image quality and user-friendliness outweighs these concerns.

Great entry-level DSLR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my wife as a replacement for our fourth point-and-shoot; we chose this over the Sony Alpha 5000 due to the full features and viewfinder. She is still learning the features, and I have had a few minutes here and there with it. so far this is a sturdy, durable workhorse.

Good entry-level DSLR package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was in the market for a DSLR and picked this camera up on sale. I have to say I am very pleased with it so far. I am new to DSLR photography, having only had point-and-shoot and bridge cameras in the past. It has plenty of features and automatic functions that make it simple for anyone to use, but like any camera of this type, it also has the capability to take full control of exposure, aperture and focus. There is a built-in flash as well as a "hot shoe" with the associated capability to add an external flash. There's a bit of learning curve on this for someone coming from simpler point-and-shoot cameras and using smartphones to take snapshots. Number one is that the zoom in both included lenses is not motorized, and you instead turn a ring on the lens to set the zoom. Focus is motorized though, but while it quickly snaps into focus when you are in autofocus mode and half-press the shutter, it does make noise and it is not completely instantaneous. It does seem to focus much more exactly than a phone, though. Plus, it has something that the phone does not- the capability to focus manually. By flipping a little switch on the lens body and turning the "nose", you can focus on something behind the thing in front, making it possible to take pictures of birds partially hidden by leaves, for example. The included lenses in this "Premium Kit" are the standard 18-55mm (3x zoom) kit lens, along with an additional 75-300mm (4x zoom) telephoto lens. The kit lens is good for most uses of this camera, and it has an image-stability system in order to compensate for camera shake, for example while taking video. The longer telephoto lens doesn't have this stability system, which means that any videos taken with it will be wobbly, like handheld cameras of old. It works good for still pictures in bright sunlight though, such as sports or wildlife pictures. The included bag fits everything that comes in the box and then some. It is quite roomy. There is a single divider inside, adjustable by way of velcro, to keep things from sliding around in there. I put the camera body on one side of the divider and the lenses on the other, and it works great. It also has a front pocket to store things like extra memory cards, extra batteries, the USB cord, and so on. One thing this camera does NOT come with is a memory card, so keep in mind you'll have to pick one up or you will not be able to take any pictures or shoot any video. A high-speed SD card is necessary for shooting full HD video. Overall I am happy with my purchase, and am looking forward to spending time getting to know all of its features. This camera is definitely recommended for anyone who wants to take better pictures than they ever possibly could with their smartphone.

Awesome starter camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A great starter camera. I see getting at least a decade out of this before I feel the need to move on. I wish it came with better instructions or a "How to" guide that was better. It's a lot to figure out at first so a dummy guide would have sealed a 5 of 5.
