Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the excellent camera quality and ease of use of the EOS Rebel T5 DSLR Camera. Many also appreciate its affordable price and lightweight design. While some users noted minor issues with autofocus performance and the lack of an included memory card, the positive feedback on image quality and user-friendliness outweighs these concerns.

A bit confusing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this camera and I hit one little thing and now I don't know how to make it focus better. It's a little confusing to understand, but I feel like if you can get the right setting it will take good pictures.

OK, but my last point-n-shoot seemed better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I know I'm asking too much from the cheapest available DSLR, but there are a few things that compared less favorably during my two weeks with a T5 than my "old" Nikon Coolpix P600: - obviously, the zoom (60x optical with no lens change); even "adding" the T5's 18-55mm (3.1x) to the 75-300mm (4x) only makes it 18-300mm (16.7x) - I feel like the optical image stabilization was not as good - I feel like the autofocus was not as precise and significantly worse while shooting video - I feel like the flash washed things out a bit more than I’m used to in an automated mode - the frames/second was slower (although it saved them much faster...so ready to shoot again more quickly) - the automatic scene selections were much more limited - the image seen is not exactly what will be recorded (but I could have turned on the monitor) - no Wi-Fi (although I didn’t particularly use it anyway…hence why I didn’t bother paying more for the T6) On the other hand: - you can buy better lenses (but would you really put them on the T5 or T6 anyway?) - the zoom is immediate and sensitive…not based on a motor’s speed - the ready-to-shoot speed was great: just zoom to where you want instantly and then quickly auto-focus - I have soooo missed the optical viewfinder (don’t be fooled by the Coolpix eyepiece: you are just looking at a miniature screen) - I was only comparing JPEG output (the P600 doesn’t even provide raw) Another surprise for me was the aspect ratio difference: I was now taking 5184x3456 (3:2…like an old 35mm…perfect for a 4” x 6” print) rather than 4608x3456 (4:3...like an old TV…which splits the difference between a 4” x 6” and an 8” x 10”). After debating far too long, I'm planning to return the T5 tomorrow and give Nikon's D3400 DSLR a try. I miss my old 35mm SLR, but it went into disuse when I got my first digital camera…which happens to be a still functioning 16-year-old Coolpix 880…with a whopping 3.3 MP and 2.5x zoom! Perhaps I'm just sucked into the Nikon mindset since I've done pretty well by them. A point-n-shoot is still an easy choice for keeping it simple. There’s a chance that the huge zoom alone may be enough to draw me back. But while an 83x zoom seems attractive, the Coolpix P900 seems a bit excessive since you lose the lens if the camera fries. The P600 still seems like an attractive option, but I don’t really see it around without an explicit search online. The new B500 (40x optical zoom) looks like it might be a great option too, but I've not tried it. And I’ve really not researched much past Canon and Nikon. I wouldn't say "don't buy a T5", but if I'm moving from a great point-n-shoot, I want a slightly better DSLR. -- M --
